Prequel To Welcome To The Dollhouse Family (an Imagination Movers/Gabby's Dollhouse story)

Author's Note: This story takes place before Welcome To The Dollhouse Family, and I love Gabby's friendship with Smitty in this! I also missed writing about Gabby and her adventures on 123 Cherry Tree Lane! Hope you enjoy! No pressure tags: @redgearsmovin @123countwithme @nostalgiclittlespace

Ever since Gabby and her Grandma Gigi came to 123 Cherry Tree Lane, The Idea Warehouse became Gabby's third home (besides her Dollhouse and Grandma Gigi's house).

So it was no surprise that she was over there today, helping Dave with an invention, and out of the corner of her eye, she could see Smitty walking up to them.

"Hey, Gabby, I was wondering if you wanted to help me in The Farm Room today." Smitty said.

The Farm Room was a room she hasn't seen yet (The Idea Warehouse had million of rooms, and The Farm Room was just one of them), and while she wanted to see it, she already agreed to help Dave.

Gabby gives Smitty an apologetic look.

"I'm sorry, Smitty: The Farm Room sounds like fun, but I already promised to help Dave with his invention."

Smitty nods, and Gabby could tell he was fighting back his disappointment.

"Oh, okay. Maybe another time, then."

As he walked away, Gabby sighs, and Dave noticed the change almost immediately.

Gabby's grandmother had once said that Gabby tries to make everyone happy, and this was Gabby's people pleasing at it's worst.

He reaches over to squeeze one of Gabby's hands gently, and she looks up, Dave gives her a soft smile.

"You're just one person, Gabby. You can't be at six places at once." he explains, mentioning The other four Movers, Nina, and Warehouse Mouse, and Gabby nods, frowning.

"Not unless you have a cloning machine."

Dave chuckles, making a mental note to make one, and he looks at her.

"Tell you what: I'll tell Rich, Scott, Nina and Warehouse Mouse not to make any plans with you: that way, you can hang out with Smitty tomorrow."

"Really?"

Dave nods.

"Really."

Gabby smiles.

"Thanks, Uncle Dave!"

Dave smiles too.

"You're welcome, Gabby."

When Gabby came to The Idea Warehouse the following day, she noticed how empty and quiet it was:

She was wondering why until she remembered her conversation with Dave before, and he defintely kept his word.

Gabby took the steps leading down to The Think Tank, and that's when she noticed Smitty sitting on the couch, muttering to himself and writing something down in his journal.

Gabby and Pandy take a seat next to Smitty, who looks up, and he gives them both a smile.

"Hey, Gabby, hey Pandy: I bet you guys are looking for Rich, Scott, or Dave right?"

Gabby shook her head.

"Nope! Pandy and I want to hang out with you!"

Smitty looks taken back by that, but then he shakes his head, and he smiles as he stands up, and so does Gabby.

"I was just making a list for The Garden Room because I got some new vegetables: did you want to help me? I know it probably won't be fun--"

He gets cut off in mid-sentence when Gabby shook her head, but she was smiling.

"Smitty, you guys can make anything fun, including gardening: and Pandy and I can help because we help Grandma Gigi with her garden."

Smitty smiles too.

"Great!"

As Gabby, Pandy, and Smitty were heading towards The Garden Room, Gabby stops walking, and she looks at Smitty.

"Hey, Smitty, is it okay if I talk to Pandy about something?"

Smitty nods:

He was used to Scott talking to Freddy Bear sometimes, so he was fine with Gabby talking to Pandy.

"It's okay with me: just come to The Garden Room when you're done."

Gabby nods, and when he leaves, Gabby glances around to make sure nobody was listening in, and she looks at Pandy.

"I still feel bad about what happened yesterday: I wish I could do something nice for Smitty."

She thinks for a minute, and she smiles.

"I got it! I can invite him to The Dollhouse, and he can see The Fairy Tail Garden!"

After what happened at Vera's house, Gabby was way more selective about who goes in her Dollhouse, but it wouldn't hurt to let Smitty see the inside.

"I like it!" Gabby said, talking for Pandy, and Gabby smiled.

"Great! Let's go help Smitty in The Garden Room!"

When Gabby enters The Garden Room, she realized that Dave, Rich, Scott and Nina could visit her Dollhouse too:

The Movers, Nina, and Warehouse weren't just her friends, but they became her family without Gabby realizing it.

Chapter 4 Jamming through jealousy

@kittyundercover1 @happinessismagicc @redgearsmovin (sorry for always tagging just gotta make sure yall get notified for these whenever they post)

two chapters in one day I’m feeling great! Inside out there might be a possible animatic or sketch coming soon. But here we have the fourth chapter of my fresh beat band meets the Imagination Movers fanfiction. What to say jealousy is bitten Rich much harder than one would expect. (if you find it out of character well I’m experimenting. With stuff so please give it a chance.)

The fresh beats, Nina, and the movers now back in their respective outfits all are enjoying themselves getting to know one another and catching up. Everybody’s laughing and smiling… well everyone except for Rich, he’s still not used to the fresh beats and is against them.

Smitty: Haha, so what happened!? You were we’re so excited that they ha~

Shout: My legs went loco. I had loco legs. 

Dave: How do loco legs work? I mean I’ve gotten super duper excited and my legs haven’t gone ‘loco’

Scott: What does loco even mean?

Kiki: Loco is Spanish for crazy, it fits well for a name.

Rich: Well that's cool, but can cuckoo legs really top any great idea I’ve had?

Twist: Actually Rich, it’s loco legs.

Rich: That's what I said, wacky legs.

Rich crosses his arms as his cheeks puff up. 

Nina: I’m so glad my two sets of best friends are all together and you guys like the same things, singing, dancing, playing music.

Rich: But!.. Us the imagination movers are cooler as we’ve been your friends longer and don’t make up random stuff about legs going crazy. We even wrote a song about you!

Shout: it’s all true though, Nina was there when it happened it’s kind of hard to explain.

Nina: Yeah, it was quite the time, BUT Rich I will say, I think having all my best friends together is what makes me super happy and excited! This day is gonna be awesome now that we’re all here~

Nina’s legs begin to move and wiggle out of control, she spins around and dance across the room unable to stop herself from whatever’s going on.

Nina: Woah!!!!! Wahooo!!!!

Rich: All right, very funny Nina, you can stop now. It’s a cute little inside joke but I get it.

Nina: hahaha , the funny thing is Rich, I can’t stop! 

She dances in place, unsure of what to do.

Dave: I’ve got just the thing. 

Dace takes his hat off and digs through it finding an invention. As he scans her leg.

Dave: according to my dance-a-torn. Your legs are in an excited dancing mood, they’re going crazy… no. They’re..

Fresh Beats: Loco!

Nina: Wow, this is what loco legs are like! Fun. But how do I stop!?

Rich: ha another idea emergen~

Shout: hold on! No emergency there, this is what I call fun. Watch.

Shout begins to spin his arms and wiggle his legs as if he had loco legs.

Scott: OH NO,  IT'S CONTAGIOUS! We’ve gotta call a doctor! Is there a doctor in the warehouse!?

Kiki: relax Scott, there’s only one way to get loco legs to go away.

Scott: drinking a glass of water like you do for hiccups?

Twist: no, you dance! Whaddaya say we jam these loco legs away!

Twist pulls out his headphones and rapidly grabs the fresh beats instruments from the car bringing them into the idea warehouse. Scott gets on his keyboard, Dave grabs his bass, Smitty grabs his guitar. Rich sits aside with a ticked faced the mood to play music.

Smitty: Aren't you gonna jam with us Rich?

Rich: No thanks. I don’t feel like it right now thank you very much.

They shrug as they begin playing the song. Marina starts on the drums, Kiki and Smitty start playing their guitars as Dave gives a bass line,

Twist: oh! And guys we need dancing! Lots and lots of dancing!!!

 All: Loco, go-go. Loco, go-go.

Shout: When you just got up and you gotta get down...

Fresh Beats: That's loco legs!

Shout: When your toes are tappin' all over town...

Imagination Movers (minus Rich): You've got loco legs!

Shout: When you're tryin' to chill but you can't sit still...

Fresh Beats: That's loco legs!

Shout: When the beat in your feet wiggles your seat...

Imagination Movers (minus Rich): You've got loco legs! Shout, Kiki, Twist, Marina, Nina, Dave, Scott, and Smitty all start dancing together letting their legs go ‘loco’.

Shout: When your feet don't stop, when your hips go hop... when your limbs in limbo and your flips are flop... when your belly wiggles, jelly jiggles, and your body giggles… All: Ahhh... I got, I got, I got, I got... you got, you got, you got, you got... we got, we got, we got loco legs! I got, I got, I got, I got... you got, you got, you got, you got... we got, we got, we got loco legs! (X3)

Kiki plays her violin as Dave and Scott do si do to her upbeat solo.

Kiki, Marina, Nina: Ooh! Ooh!

Twist: You try to chill, you wanna sit still, but the beat repeats in the soles of your feet. There's a rhythm in the jiggle and it keeps puttin' giggles in your belly and a wiggle in your seat! You can't chill, you can't sit still 'cause you got, you got, you got, you got...

All: Loco legs!

Twist: Said you can't chill, no, you can't still 'cause you got, you got them loco legs!

All: Loco legs!

Shout: When your head is bobbin' and your fingers snappin'...

All: That's loco legs!

Shout: When your knees are knockin' and your arms are flappin'...

All: You got loco legs!

Shout: When your feet are movin' and your toes are tappin'...

All: That's loco legs!

Shout: When your shoulders shake and your hands are clappin'...

All: You got loco legs!

Shout: When your feet don't stop, when your hips go hop... when your limbs in limbo and your flips are flop... when your belly wiggles, jelly jiggles, and your...

All: Body giggles...

Shout, Dave,  Kiki: I got… (I got, I got, I got, I got...

Shout, Dave, Kiki: We got… (We got, we got, we got loco legs!)

Shout, Dave, Kiki: We got, we got loco legs!

Shout: We got… (We got, we got, we got loco legs!) All: We got, we got loco legs! Nina’s legs finally begin to relax as she’s finally calming down. As they all high five and laugh. Warehouse mouse even pretends to dance with loco legs as he loved the beat! Nina: ahhh, just like old times! That was super fun! Smitty: Check it out! Warehouse Mouse has loco legs!

warehouse Mouse: Me got me got me gots woco wegs! They all laugh as Rich crosses his arms continuing to pout annoyed, he really isn’t in the mood to join in on any actual fun I guess

Nina: Come on Rich, have some fun, let your legs loose, go loco! Grab your scribble sticks and join us! Its not the same without you

Rich: No! NO! NO! And I don’t think it’ll be the same if you replace us! I’m going to my thinking space, I need some time to myself… UGH. 

Nina: Replace you??? Rich thats not~

He storms off into the hall mumbling a bunch of stuff in complete jealously, the others don’t know if they should go after him.

Scott: eh, don’t worry, ‘Richie’ doesn’t always take kindly to new people, he gets jealous easily.

Rich (across the hall): DON’T CALL ME THAT!!!!

Nina: sheesh… please tell me you don’t just have pet names for everybody.

Scott hides a notepad full of them behind his back as he whistles nonchalantly as if he didn’t have it out. Rich goes to his room to contemplate as he sits at his desk looking at a photo, it's of him, Dave, Smitty, Scott, Warehouse Mouse, and Nina when they first met her. Rich tears up at the photo.

Rich: I’m not gonna let them take our best friend away from us, Nina is our friend, not those guys, I’m a much better drummer and mover than they are, and they can’t replace me.. We’re just as cool if not cooler, and I’ll prove it.

Rich puts on a determined face, ready to do what he thinks is a smart idea.

Mordecai: -The rarest, most valuable, coveted collectors item in all "Broken Bonez" history? The Prosthetic Leg? OH YEAH!!

Rigby: *Takes a good 5 minutes to digest the sight of all the collectibles, comics, etc. (I realized TOO LATE that I could've added the café... & even then, I'm not sure I'd've had any room 😓)*

Just a small blurb of mine in the vast crossoverse of @toonsforkicks22 (Cartuneslover16 on DeviantArt); this was a BLAST to draw 🤩🤩!! I did this either late 2018 or mid 2019, not too long after finishing her fic "Chaotic Order".

Also just an observation of how bookstores, over the years, went from just selling books, to being the ultimate hang-out spot!
