I'm probably not qualified to talk about this but I think that once they're on the same team Shane and Ilya should see each other as like, bonded warriors. Athletes in my experience are corny like that. Let them tape each other up and fasten each other's pads and tie each other's skates like they're going into battle. Ilya opens his mouth and Shane puts his mouth guard in. Let them like hype each other up with like "Let's go?" and then "Let's fucking go!" back forth while they shove each other around. And then there's the falling action after the strain of the game (battle). Taking off helmets, feeling each other up for injuries, checking each other's teeth. Applying icy-hot and compression garments. No one else is allowed to do these things for them. No one else is touching Shane Hollander's skates, but Ilya knows exactly how many superstitious knots Shane's wants his tied in. Bonded pair, do not separate.

My dad got me tickets to see Hadestown on tour for my birthday, and my mom wanted to know what it's about so I started to try and explain it to her. Opened up with "so you know the story of Orpheus and Eurydice right, so --" and she cut me with a big "never heard of it". Absolutely floored me. So I start trying to explain that, and also ask if she knows Hades and Persephone's story. Also nope. So then I also start trying to explain that, and it keeps getting bigger until she just says "Look, I didn't know what Zeus was before you turned seven."

I'm shook. Flabbergasted. A little appalled, even. Truly one of these moments for me.

been thinking a lot about MCSayo as a ship lately. I think its popularity within the wider fandom is very easy to explain; the childhood friends to lovers plot is sweet, the two deeply care about one another, they have a history together, Sayori is someone who needs a supportive partner in general, etc. it's a very easy ship to make work.

however I also like to put them in the fucking blender

I've been ruminating a lot on MC's self-centeredness as seen in Act 1, his lack of understanding of Sayori's issues (and failure at trying to understand). Sayori is a very forgiving person, non-confrontational, a people pleaser, and it's easy to imagine that she would feel like she's indebted to MC just by virtue of how long they've been friends. and I find it really tragically beautiful just how these factors can go catastrophically wrong if exacerbated.

end of act 1, as an example, but what if Sayori finally lashes out, the mask finally shatters? what if Sayori, sitting in compliant, complacent silence, watches his relationships with the other girls shrivel as quickly as they blossomed, him being unable to learn, putting his own happiness above everyone else's?

what if, in the end, friends or not, dating or not, both MC and Sayori are alone — on the inside or the outside?

Thinking about handwriting because my little 9-1-1 brain will not shut the hell up

Buck’s handwriting is messy. Like SUPER messy. Like elementary level handwriting, it’s so so bad, because of his whole relationship with school and his parents not being proactive while he was developing his fine motor skills that lead to good handwriting

(Maddie, on the other hand, has pretty notes level beautiful handwriting. She used to be a nurse, and went to nursing school. Her handwriting looked typed. Now, though, it’s a little messier but still absolutely beautiful and legible)

Chimney’s is pretty much chicken scratch, but it’s neat chicken scratch. Like he used to have guy handwriting (not Buck bad, but still very bad), but with doing the books and stuff for the karaoke bar with Kevin, he developed this fast little chicken scratch short hand that he’s kept

Hen has drs handwriting. It looks good from a distance, but up close?? What the hell is that girl saying (used to work in insurance and is now a paramedic, I feel like dr handwriting comes with the territory there) BUT when she was at school, her handwriting was, like, fine

Eddie writes in cursive. He writes in fast cursive, and I really have no other reason for this than just a feeling. Like that guy writes in fast, messy, pretty cursive. I think it’s cause of the ballroom dancing. Cursive and ballroom dancing make sense together. Plus, he had younger sisters (I’m not subscribing to the Eddie has an older sister propaganda from canon) and his fine motor skills are wonderful because he spent a ton of time with them making bracelets and coloring and braiding their hair

Bobbys is a weird hybrid cursive/not cursive type thing. All of his letters are connected, but in a pretty way that’s legible. You can read his handwriting perfectly

I'm not opposed to fic about Jonathan & Nancy having crushes on each other as children (would be incredibly hypocritical of me if I were) but like canonically? They circled around each other pre-season 1 at best. Like they knew each other but didn't know each other if that makes sense
