Support 'Dreamer and the Drifter, A Fairytale Comic Book' by donating or sharing today!
MY LOVELY MUTUALS,
This is my current creative project and my attempt to break into the comic book industry as a (queer) writer. I have a bit of money to raise. If any of you could kindly reblog/share this fundraiser, I would be eternally grateful. If you are able to donate, you are my angel; if not, reblogging and sharing is MORE THAN HELPFUL! <3
“I was once pure, once clean. The birds would answer my call, the forest sighed at my feet..."
Written and story boarded by Steven Ennis, The Dreamer and the Drifter is a short story inspired by the fairy tale Sleeping Beauty, spun with a queer/lgbt+ twist. The completed script is 22 pages long (standard for a single issue comic).
THE FAERIE
THE PRINCE
THE DREAMER
Early concepts by C.Bedford
Within the book the Prince, the Faerie, and the Dreamer represent familiar fairy tale archetypes while subverting the expectations commonly associated with these figures – challenging gender roles and exploring gender identities respectively. The story thematically deals with redemption and reflection, discovery and depression, and recovery from trauma. Your money will go toward commissioning @c-bedford as the artist for the comic book, which will include the 22 page script and cover art. You can find more of their work on their personal website: https://cbedford.com/ This comic is an introduction into a world of queer fairy tales. The goal is to have this comic reach an audience at a larger level so that those who can connect with these themes will have a story that represents them – all with tales we have grown to love (and unfortunately may have been excluded from).
Long term goals are to have this comic published through an established publishing house to reach its full potential. An extended goal is to continue with several queer/lgbt+ fairy tales; allowing many more people to enjoy a rejuvenated perspective on the very human experiences fairy tales have expressed for eons.
