Almost every cult leader falls somewhere on this spectrum
If I get a full punch card of religious takes that border on blasphemy, I get a free pair of aviator sunglasses
Swearing off cult documentaries until I stop saying "real" whenever the leader/s start ranting about the government.
being in a cult is insane. you can know deep down that something is fundamentally Wrong with a situation, but unsure of what it is because you trust the leader so much that it hurts. Like, yes, i know somewhere objectively that a teacher screaming at a student in a room is wrong, and giving him my social media passwords is wrong, and him trying to touch me is wrong. but he would never be wrong, so of course they're right.
it's so weird that there are three people in the world who could literally call in a no questions ask from me despite none of us having really talked in years.
and it's weird that i know with 100% certainty that they would come for me too
our relationships had so fucking many ups and downs, and they were not always happy. but we were, in the end, best friends who went through something extremely hellish together and shared a horrible experience. they're my girls. they're, like, lifers with me. we will always be connected by the same horrible thread. there is no relationship more vulnerable.
thank you!! [for tryna get new members :3]
I'm trying to get @justanidiotartist too (in DMs)
being born into a cult, marrying within that cult, having children within that cult, divorcing, means there is no escape for any of us until the children turn 18
