Had a situation where I had to stand up from my wheelchair and a random lady yelled 'oh you dont need that wheelchair, faker!' like dynamic disabilities don't exist
Ghost
Ghost would turn around slowly, after helping you in the car, just staring with furrowed brows
The lady was already sweating bullets cause why hadnt she clocked the behemoth of a man coming round the car?!?
And in that dark, gravel filled voice he'd say "wot? want some dislocated joints to feel a fraction of their pain?" while cracking his knuckles
Price
The lady turns her nose up and mumbles something about charity cases and how you dont have it that bad
Hed fold up your wheelchair, showcasing how easily he can handle it, muscles bulging
Price would look up from helping you, not even turning around really "you want to repeat yourself, lady?"
Soap
The woman sneered something about belonging in a care facility when needing that much help and you ducked your head
He would whip around so fast after helping you in the car
When you help someone out of a wheelchair and into a car you seem smaller just from bending over and all that
The fright that lady got will live rent free in your head
He would stand back up to his full height and squares his shoulders, cocking his head "you wanna be in a position where you need even more help, miss? No? Then mind your own fucking business"
Gaz
"Oh yeah? That wheelchairs just for pity. They need god and willpower"
He stabilized you the few steps to the car and shut the door for you before turning to the woman
He would say it while folding your wheelchair, just looking casual to passersby "if you dont want to meet hell on earth I'd advise you to keep your opinions to yourself"
He'd make no scene but that icy glare of his would haunt that ladys nightmares for weeks to come
All of them would grumble the whole way home, having a hand on your thigh and kneading softly. If its to sooth you or themselves you don't know but it works either way.
People like that will always feel the need to comment on things they don't know enough but it's easier to not let them get to you with your man by your side.
And when the bad thoughts get too heavy? They're there to lighten the burden on you but you'll never be one to them
V asking Johnny if he'll leave when Johnny finally has his own body. Leave night city, leave V...
V struggling to decide what to do with himself since he only knows the options are die, fade into Mikoshi, or barely keep scraping by. Till Alt scans the network and finds Johnny a compatible body jacked in and ready.
Then V has to worry all over again that he's going to die and there won't be anyone to make it less terrifying, because, even in the state he's in, he knows Johnny wants more. Something outside Night City. Something to look forward to.
V's fully prepared to be left behind in favor of Johnny getting out of the towers lower levels, but he's not. It's not Johnny's face, but it's his mannerisms and attitude that tells him all he needs to know when he's being lifted out of the cold water. He doesn't know how long it took to be found, but they got there together, so Johnny had to know at least some of the way.
Johnny's careful with him, carrying V out of Arasaka and doing his damn best to get them both of there alive. Just in time to see the closest ripper and pull enough strings to keep V alive till they find a better solution. It didn't matter if Johnny's stolen body had dried blood caked over his clothes.
And V pushes back on the idea of a permanent solution. Something like Misty's pills did enough to stop his brain from eating itself, so he doesn't need anything else. Just a supply of these and it'll be fine.
It was supposed to be fine. And then V had a particularly rough episode, a series of seizures, and couldn't eat for days, couldn't stand on his own for weeks. It wasn't V's choice to finally get better meds, but Johnny forcing him that finally made V agree. Because he can't keep doing this. He's keeping Johnny here, when he should be far from NC already.
He doesn't remember much from that time, but he remembers putting his head on the edge of the bathtub while Johnny gently washed his hair to get rid of all the sweat, and asking; "Why're you still here..?"
And he remembers the answer. The almost pained laugh that came with it.
"Rather be here than anywhere else..."
He didn't really understand at the time. Johnny Silverhand staying by his side despite there being the option for him to go and be happy somewhere else. Somewhere Night City couldn't drown him too. But he thinks he gets it now.
He didn't want Johnny to leave, not his head, not the city, not him. Because he needs him, not just to pick him up and wrap his wounds, but because he cannot imagine not having him close.
And Johnny wanted to stay because he needed V the same way. He needed to be there to help, yeah, but his hands shake at the idea of being too far to run back to him. He needs to be there. More than he needs to breathe.
- Human Dream has some sort of skin condition due to being trapped in stone. He doesn't want the public to know of any "weaknesses" of his so he hides it behind layers of makeup and clothing, the former of which often only makes it worse. To help with it he bathes regularly, occasionally using one of the plethora of medicinal bathbombs and soaps that blue buys him (he feels guilty about wasting his money).
- Human Nightmare has long hair, Human Dream has short hair. (we know why the latter is, though, don't we Helen~)
- Human Cross is albino! So is human Epic! Albino besties!!! They bond over it, one red eyed, the other purple.
- Human Epic has long, stark white braided hair, it reaches his ankles and is So pretty when he moves, the top of it is all cut up boyishly, so it looks like the braid is coming out of nowhere.
- Human Ink is intersex, usual ink is Definitely intersex so, why wouldn't human him be, too?
- The dreamtale twins' eyes can also turn to star shapes, much like blue's. They get that from him.
- The twins aren't identical twins. Bone structure wise they are carbon copies (of blue and each other), but appearance wise, especially as humans, they don't look all That alike.
- Dream has joint issues from being stuck in stone, and he loses the ability to properly grip things randomly and has to just wait for it to pass.
- Dust is probably selectively mute.
- Cross definitely has some form of psychosis, you don't see your dad somehow know everything about you and everyone else and be low-key an omnipotent god without developing Some kind of paranoia about being watched (will have a follow up post later... Probably)
- After blue decided to parent adult twins (god knows they need it) he began learning Spanish to better talk to them. Having had no one genuinely care for them for so long, (people always hated nightmare and everyone always wanted something from dream), it shocked both of them.
- Blueberry sans is an outcode, as his entire existence came about solely due to people's misconceptions about blue and he Is very much just a child. The love of the people around him, (the ones there initially when he first popped into existence, aka, his original caretakers. Not the Entire multiverse is affected) is dependent on the fandom's view of him. So if the fandom loves him, he gets doted on. But if the fandom hates him..
Yeah.. as far as he's aware, one day he woke up and everyone hated him and didn't tell him why. It really fucked him up. He's convinced that if he could just Know what it is he messed up, if he could just be Good enough, fix it, everything will go back to normal (it won't) and people won't hate him anymore.
- Both human twins have freckles from being in the sun so much, however nightmare's can't be seen due to being under the corruption, and dream's have faded from being in stone.
- The twins can both sense the emotional intention of man-made things, and the emotions associated with them. If they enter a room, they can tell if it bore positive or negative memories, same with foods, objects, etc.
So when nightmare first ate a homemade meal made by blue, cooked specifically for Him, he nearly choked on the amount of pure Love poured into it.
Love.. for Him.
- Swap sanses tend to be a bit taller than classics, and swap papyri shorter than classic papyri.
- Passive probably got chased by some drunk young mens' hunting dogs once.
- Cross likes and listens to lofi music.
- On cross's bad days, his hands shake in the kitchen because he's getting water without permission.
- Cross has no concept of weekends, as every day is a weekday for him. XGaster didn't even let him Know such a thing existed until he was school age, at which point the man had no choice but to tell him.
- Epic buys multi-coloured bandaids instead of the brown beige ones. It's to add a sense of silliness and whimsy to his life, yes, but it's also to help (force) cross to get back small bits and pieces of the childhood he'd never had.
- Sometimes cross says no to epic asking to kiss him because he doesn't feel like he's earned it that day.
- Ink's body runs so cold your fingers will go numb if you hold his hand for too long.
- Error is the opposite, worst case scenario, cuddling him gives you first degree burns, so layer up, babe.
- Nightmare is cold in the way something that may or may not be wet is cold, it's like, Really confusing for your senses to touch him.
Like slime,,, iykyk.
- Dream in warm like sunlight, just enough to be comforting, Very nice to be felt, to be around.
- Shattered is Hot (ha, we been knew 😏) no but seriously, he's hot in the way magma is hot; Thick like lava and dripping very slowly.
just left work early due to a horrendous flare up and i just wanna cry bruh. i hate being disabled and i hate not being able to see my pain so my brain really acts like it’s no big deal
when quite literally i limp when the sciatica is getting too bad. my hip THROBS and quite honestly i feel like i have hip dysplasia in both of my hips.
i’m considering seeing a doctor that has my mom & my cousins history because they also have hip issues and i know it’ll be easy because he already knows what’s going on, but then it will feel more real
going to ny for a doctors appointment is just so…idk it just makes me feel so strange. idk. idk i hate doctors and i hate having a disability that is going to last a lifetime i just hate it.
It doesn't make sense in my brain emotionally. It doesn't make sense to me how no matter what i do my partner still feels so bad and exhausted all the time. She's not just feeling bad, she's not just not sleeping, she's not not eating enough. She's disabled. As a carer, I can't put this to rest. It just feels like if I did more that somehow through some magic she would feel better.
She tells me I help a lot, and that just being here makes it easier. Which is so sweet, but my brain doesn't accept it. There must be something more I can do for her.
But there isn't. The best I've come up with is going back to school to get a job that can support us both so she has enough time to rest. But for now she still works. 5 days a week when she still hasn't recovered from Christmas.
I just wish I could do something, now. Something to let her rest, now. But capitalism demands much of everyone and doesn't care if you're disabled. I wish our government cared about people with disabilities, cuz in this country you're only given enough money so that you're not too much of a burden(I hate this word) on whichever relative takes care of you. You can't live independently and you can't live comfortably. Ableism is such a sickness. I hope for a better tomorrow.
disabled!mello actually gets me so bad. imagine No One is there to help him once he got exploded. he's close to death but near has an in through infiltrating the spk, so while the task force was occupied with soichirou, near's team digs mello from the ashes.
---
mello woke up in a private hospital with his whole body aching and half his face bandaged.
oh, and he can't hear a thing.
he's scared but trying to act tough, and that's harder done than said when he's bed-bound and pathetic. near showed up at his bedside and mello instinctively snarled. it's so quiet that near's eerie eyes, boring into him, become frightening. until the younger boy's hands start to move.
*How-you-feeling,-Mello?*
he signed mello's name sign with his three middle fingers in prongs, inverting from the double arch of an "m", into a crown. he'd received it from a deaf classmate whom they'd met on an exchange program, for being exceptionally good at football hat tricks.
mello couldn't bring himself to respond. he swallowed down the lump in his throat, the countless nights spent conversing with near in BSL when they were *super* little; where words failed, they had sign. when near spoke in the presence of mello for the first time, he'd nearly cried.
and though he secretly wanted near's voice to himself, sometimes he'd be surprised by the pleasant sound of it, like muted silver bells, chiming carefree down the hallway whenever he discussed concepts with one of their professors.
mello gave a great huff, meeting near's eyes the best he could, beleaguered by injury. he raised his right hand laboriously and stuck up the universal sign for "fuck you."
in response, near's lips raised and his eyes crinkled, sparkling.
and oh my, even without hearing it, wasn't his laughter just like bells?
Also a difficult question: how would they react to having an disabled child?
Oh I don’t think that’s a hard question at all. Everyone on the Victoria Punk is disabled in some way shape or form, and maybe there’s one or two exceptions, but for the majority I think they all have something.
Kid’s missing an arm, most of the crew has trauma, I mean - they weren’t abled when they first set sail, let’s be fair.
But I think they’d be great parents for it. Disabilities aside, the Punk is a crew of misfits and outsiders. They don’t fit anywhere else. That kid’s going to grow up nearly unaware of their disability being anything other than a part of how they live.
It would probably be the best environment someone could hope for, honestly.
Being disabled in an abled family, oof. That’s where it gets hard in my opinion.
Valentino has never had great eyesight in Hell, but the longer he is dead the more his sight deteriorates. He has perfect vision in the dark and is able to read and do other things, but in any form of light, he is essentially blind. When Vox smiles at him with his big, blue teeth, he also gets what he calls Moon Eyes where he is transfixed and cannot stop staring despite not being able to see.
After the stripping of his left antenna, Valentino's hearing went from being able to hear up to 300hz to only 150hz. He is half-deaf, and though he is still capable of hearing better than any human and most other Sinners, he does not hear as well as he used to. When he watches TV he has it turned up loud, and prefers loud music. He has to really strain to hear whispers if they are not relatively close to him. He does hear a static hum when Vox is around and generating it.
Due to the stripped antenna, his sense of smell and taste were also damaged. He has to get his other good antenna in there if he wants to smell something, and he prefers foods that have a heavier scent so he can taste them properly.
