Something I really really really fucking hate about alterhuman (namely fictionkin) spaces is how incredibly saneist they are toward people with (or those they perceive to have) delusions.

I often feel the need to censor myself when I join a new fictionkin space, especially those that ban "IRLs/DAs", out of fear I will be harassed for being perceived as experiencing a delusion, due to the nature of my identity.

I am transspecies. I am a physical nonhuman. I don't experience any delusions (at least, as far as I'm aware), and yet, often when I mention my identity in these spaces, that's what I'm called. Not out of worry or concern for my wellbeing, but as an insult. As something that makes me "lesser". As if, in the case that I were delusional, that would be a flaw in my character.

It's disgusting, truly, how these spaces act toward delusional people. They are not any less than you just because they experience something completely out of their control. They are not any less than you for having a symptom you don't have.

It's ableist as fuck to exclude these people from the community, especially if they're just looking for like-minded people. This is the internet. Most of us are not mental health professionals. It's not our job to dictate what these people can or can't do. It's not our job to diagnose random ass people as having a very serious symptom just because they have a different experience to you.

Does anyone else feel like being fictionkin (and fictive, and so on) of a human character is still inherently a nonhuman identity? Like, a fictional character isn't a real person, ergo non-human. Does this make sense?

I really try really really hard to be accepting to non harmful identities I use peoples pronouns and name and everything but i struggle really a lot with people who are physical-kins or holothere or other equivalent where they believe they are entirely their kin/theriotype in every single way because like I’ll respect they identify that way but they physically still look like a human and everyone who doesn’t know their identity treats them like a human and if they identify as a character it’s a character it’s not real they can’t *be* it in a literal sense (ie non psychological or spiritual or past life or alternate universe etc) right in the moment like like and they still need to go to the human doctor n stuff and the only way I can understand it is if it’s a delusion or in a way that acknowledges they don’t look like their identity even if they refer to their body as their kin yk

And like if it is that’s fine that’s more than fine I fully support people who have delusions who feel their delusions impact their identity and them interacting with alterhuman communities as long as it’s not harmful for themself I’ve got NO problem with that. The problem is the people who describe their identity the way a delusional person would but vehemently claim it’s not a delusion and get angry when anyone implies that even OTHER people might have delusions like????

Im never gonna tell someone they have a delusion if im not super close and understand their mental health and mental health background, that’s not my place im not a doctor, however i think it shouldn’t be an issue to acknowledge some alterhumans who are holothere/physicalkin do have delusions, its not a negative thing its just a fact

And like I hate it bc one time someone compared it to what transphobes do??? But gender is by definition a social construct it’s an internal thing it’s not bound by physicality, a lot (not all) trans people have dysphoria because they *don’t look like what their internal identity is and aren’t seen as it* which directly contradicts the problem i have which is denying the existence of physical differentiation from the identity.

I believe you can acknowledge the physical differentiation while not denying the identity itself.

It’s like, it’s like claiming me acknowledging that my girlfriend has a penis is transphobic like ????? No??!?? The whole point of accepting identity is to be okay with those differences and still respect how that person asks to be seen 😭

Species dysphoria is a joke.

They made a kind of unbearable yearning that can permanently shape your life, your personality, your goals, and you can never have it. You just straight up cannot get what you want in its truest form. We relieve ourselves by changing how we live, altering our bodies and our fashions and our hobbies and our homes to help us feel closer to what we are inside, but it can only ever soothe the pain. There's no way in this physical realm to ever close the wound short of becoming actually psychotic (there's a part of me that envies zoanthropes and folks who's psychotic symptoms make them feel more like their types, even though I know from experience that psychosis is a bitch and not something to aspire to at all) and we're just supposed to. What. Cope? Just walk around like this? Live our lives forever knowing we're stuck in the wrong world and the wrong perceptions of what we are from others and nothing can be done?

trying to distance myself from some of my attachments so theyre just. Normal. kins. or whatever. and develop a genuine sense of self but. Hoo. hoo. i feel like gutting myself a million times over. maybe its ok if im a bit delusional but also ik in the end its probably better but also what if its ok if im a bit delusional. i dunno. i Dunno. i just wish i still had a therapist. whatever tomorrow i have to enroll in college classes and i can't worry about whether its okay in the long run if i continue to feed into my delusions for a sense self and also because it makes me feel safe and secure in the moment and also because reality checking just. doesn't really work bc i just.
