I am so sorry, babies and mamas!!!! #Repost @mynameistriinu ・・・ Because male calves will not grow up to produce milk, they are considered of little value to the dairy farmer and are sold for meat or killed right after birth. The current estimates are that 100,000 to 150,000 bull calves are shot within hours of birth in the UK (@vivacharity). Millions of calves are taken away to be raised for beef. Hundreds of thousands of other male calves born into the dairy industry are raised for veal. • If the calf is born as a girl, she will have the same fate as her mum. She will be forcibly impregnated year after year until their bodies cannot take any longer. Like humans, cows carry their babies for 9 months during pregnancy. I am not a mother, yet I can imagine that the bond between a baby and his/her mum starts during that period. I couldn’t event begin to imagine what it would be like looking forward to meeting your little one only for them to be taken away. • The dairy industry is the meat industry with the added mental torment that comes from separating the babies from their mothers. • Say no to kidnapping. Say no to rape. Say no to pus in your food. Say no to murder.
