not too often,  both due to it being incredibly taboo to eat the young of a sapient creature and also just due to them having unappetizing and flavorless meat

theyre free floating planktonic animals at their earliest phases (think eel larvae and glass eels) and yotici cant/dont practice parental care for them, so theres technically very little stopping you. they occasionally get caught in fishermens hauls and may be consumed in that context.  but yearling yotlings are bigger and start to school around adults (which is when parental care and language learning begins) and youd be considered monstrous for eating them. so consumption at that stage is rare outlier incidents
