I’m gonna go with starting minor bc I like giving the sickie some time to be like “oh this is nothing,” then *bam* they’re a wreck after just a few days.

Spring/summer colds OR autumn/winter colds?

As cliche as it is, autumn/winter colds. That way they can be all bundled up in scarves and blankets with hot chocolate and all that cute stuff!

Distraction Ask! What are your thoughts or feelings about sickfics in historical settings? Some time periods but not others? Or do you prefer present-day-and-future-or-fantasy settings?

Historical ones can be fun because of the less-advanced medical knowledge. Fantasy settings can kind of go in the same category, depending on the world it’s set in. Part of them can be really fun because fevers are more dangerous and ‘all we can do for him is wait’. But on the flip side, ‘all we can do for him is wait’. There could potentially be a lack of action/plot.

Ones set in the future are super fun too, because you can make up new diseases and therefore remedies. Alien diseases if you go the sci-fi route. You get a little more leeway with how you write it and read it. Fantasy based fics do the same thing.

But a sickfic is a sickfic, and I love them all!

I’mma say nose-rubbing tho. Sniffles I too often associate w “d00d pls blow ur nose” (I’m working on that tho!) so they’re sexy but not as much as nose rubs lol

hmmm this is a tough one

i gotta say the first one. in terms of pure snz they’re equal, but with someone who can’t get away from the allergen u get that ‘oH FUCK’ moment when they first realize they’re stuck & then they Know it’s coming and probably try to stop it but ultimately can’t do anything

Someone getting sick while at work OR someone getting sick while on vacation?

Both great, but if I had to pick, I’d go with sick on vacation. Added misery because they’re supposed to be having fun and enjoying themselves.
