Saw your dark/evil Hufflepuff moodboard so here are some headcanons!!

A muggleborn is sorted into Hufflepuff. McGonagall smiles, a student that will surely be peaceful to have

There are no hushed whispers. Her house applauds,but no one really sees her.

She makes friends fast. A Hufflepuff boy who's parents thought he'd be a slytherin, and a ravenclaw who invents things the magical community has never seen.

The Resricted Section intrigues them. They find old books on the second wizarding war, and she realises how horrible life would have been if she had arrived just ten years earlier.

In the dark corner of the library, she and her two friends make a vow. They will never be helpless, no matter who tries to make them that way.

The ravenclaw invents a trace blocker, so each of them can practice magic at home

She tells her parents all about her time at school. They worry, until she shows them what she can do.

The ravenclaw creates potions like Severus Snape did, and the two hufflepuffs steal textbooks from older students to learn the hexes the previous hogwarts students were to scared to use. They weren't studying anyway.

When McGonagall expects another quiet year of Hufflepuffs, she find them to be loud. Loyal and caring, but louder. They protect their own so fiercely that they get compared to lions.

Not lions, they say. Hufflepuffs.

Okay, these headcanons are amazing Sage!

After this I think a lot of Hufflepuffs would began to rebel. The Hufflepuff Revolution would begin.

Some of my own headcanons to the house under the cut

Imagine if Hufflepuff would have a relationship system similar to a secret society that works in the background. Nobody would suspect that they control the society behind the curtains because they aren't screaming it in the face of every person.

If you're sorted in Hufflepuff you'll always be a Hufflepuff. After graduating you will still be a part of this complex net of relationship of Hufflepuffs. (Sort of like a mafia family maybe?)

Which has its own perks: like it's easier to find a job at a shop because you helped one of the workers learning for the O.W.L-s when you two were housemates. He will recommend you to the boss. Like I said: once a Hufflepuff, always a Hufflepuff.

Tribalism. If you try to hurt one of us expect that a lot of Hufflepuffs will make your life hell. This tribalism was seen in GoF too; the Hufflepuff students were bullying him because he stole the fame from the house. Harry felt that even Professor Sprout acted colder to him.

Hufflepuffs could move the threads so carefully behind the curtains that most people don't expect when they attack (like the three students, they were also working behind everyone else)

Though a lot of them can be just as loud as someone would expect from a stereotypical Gryffindor. They're vicious, would protect their loved ones when they sense danger. They would fiercely battle for justice. They're the Hufflepunks.

Just because someone gets sorted in Hufflepuff, doesn't mean that they are less ambitous, witty brave. It just means that they value loyality, hard work or being just more than anything else. Like the Hufflepuff boy you wrote, his parents expected him being Slytherin. (This is pretty obvious I know 😂)

We are taught to treat everyone with kindness and compassion, but are those same attributes ever returned to us? Why must we value patience and fair play when others feel so determined to undermine and walk over us? We are tired of staying silent. It is time to feel the burning wrath of the those you deem so fragile and weak.

Dark Hufflepuffs

No, seriously...

Hufflepuffs are known, essentially, to be something of a "pure" house. They're the ones who have the least amount of dark wizards, and overall, they're basically the nice loyal (albeit portrayed as boring) house.

And yeah, people have been giving Hufflepuff house depth. However, most of the depth is to make it more interesting and expand on all the good things, but very little of it seems to be focusing on the dark side. Gryffindor has dark wizards. Ravenclaw has quite a bit of morally grey peeps. Slytherin... yeah. But Hufflepuff? The worst you get is Zacharius Smith, who honestly just seems to be a really grumpy and cynical character more than someone actually "evil".

And no, I don't mean to bring hate onto Hufflepuffs. Hufflepuffs are great! Loyalty and hard-working are excellent traits to have that should be focused on more often. Hufflepuffs in no way are a leftover house; they're just a hugely underestimated house. I'm a Hufflepuff (I think), and I love it.

However, to not afford it to the same degree as the other houses makes them seem less of a house for actual human beings and more of this pure, angelic idea. Loyalty, honestly, and hardworking should be able to be turned into flaws and villainous traits like Slytherin's ambition and cunning are (Ambition is a good thing, and I will stand on that hill until I die).

We could have a Hufflepuff blood purist/death eater, who's extremely loyal to the cause and to the other death eaters (for their own reasons) and who works hard at helping the others and defeating the Order and who's blinding honestly leads to bluntness and hurt feelings. We could have a Hufflepuff ministry worker, who's loyal to the ministry no matter what state of corruption it's in, and works to support and help it no matter what (even if it conflicts with basic moral values). We could have Hufflepuffs using their connections they build to learn secrets and pass it off to Voldemort and no one would know. We could have kind, sincere Hufflepuff teachers at hogwarts who turned out to be fighting for Voldemort. We could have Hufflepuffs who really think they're doing the right thing when they're obviously not (and man, those types of villains are terrifying). Why can't it happen to the other houses and not Hufflepuff?

It's like the inverse of Slytherins being bad. Not all Slytherins are bad, so why are all Hufflepuffs (or most; by all basically all that we have seen in canon) good? Everyone exists on a moral spectrum of grey, and it should be the same for all houses, irregardless.

(And that's where sortinghatchats succeeded when JK failed. Sortinghatchats isn't about good/evil, it's about why you do what you do and how you do it. A vilain and a hero can exist with the same morality, just twisted in different ways.)

Honestly, the concept of the Sorting Hat is honestly really old. You're telling me that a talking hat can determine/figure out who an 11 year old is going to be? At that age most kids are just excitable little monsters who are hyper 24/7 (if you don't know what I'm talking about then you are blessed). Most people don't figure out who they are until they're an adult (assuming they know at all), and you're telling me that a hat can do it to kids? Please. If there should be houses at all, it should have to do with fields of interest, perhaps, or maybe random or something, anything else.

Headcanon:

Helga Hufflepuff helped Salazar Slytherin build the Chamber of Secrets.

Yes, I know what you will tell me "It's impossible, Helga was the kindest and most benevolent and blah blah blah." But let me explain myself for a moment.

-The entrance to the Chamber of Secrets is in the girls' bathroom on the second floor and underground

Point number 1: GIRLS bathroom. Why was Salazar going to build it in the bathroom of the OPPOSITE sex. Is rare. It may seem like a masterstroke of a genuine genius because no one would suspect that it would be there the entrance BUT Slytherin would have no good excuse to enter there, much less to build a bathroom. So he had to be helped by a girl to made it. Which brings me to:

Point number 2:

BATHROOM. I've already said that only a girl could help Salazar create the entrance there without raising suspicions. That leaves us with Rowena or Helga. And let's face it, I don't think Rowena bothered to create bathrooms. On the other hand, the sweet Helga, who loved all those who could not be accepted in the other houses, surely she would have taken care of the "trifles" like building the bathrooms.

Point number 3: Where is the Chamber of Secrets? Exactly, underground o, say it in another way, under the EARTH. And what element represents Hufflepuff? The EARTH.

It is quite possible that Helga was very good at excavation and stone reshaping spells. Perfect for creating the Camera

Point number 4: SalazarXHelga is canon and Helga was loyal enough to Salazar to create it for him (Ok, no, but who doesn't like this ship 💚💛)
