Out of the possibly paranoid feeling that society is going to collapse into a steaming heap of shit... I have started working out how to darn my damned socks.
Also, I like these socks and want to keep wearing them as long as possible.

Mending practice on practically any practical item
Old socks
New socks
My very first attempt at darning a sock. One of my Elmo Bombas socks that I love.
Using a 17.6 oz salt container didn’t work so I switched to my first plan of a large water bottle, which worked much better.
I also was using a single strand from pulled apart embroidery floss. 2/3 of the way through I switched to 2 strands and things went much better and faster after that. I used red so I could see what I was doing better.
It’s not exactly like the videos I watched, but I think it’s not terrible for my first try and it cost me nothing except for 2 1/2 hours of my time and eye strain. I don’t think I would do this on cheap socks unless I couldn’t afford to replace them. (I use those for plant ties on my garden.)
Anyway, I really hope it holds up as I love these socks.
For the socks mending gang
Tried out a new kind of mending patch for knits! You just… knit a patch right over the hole. I think it turned out quite well, and I hope it holds up well. Very quick to do!
Me, forcefully extending the life of my socks via darning: You’re :) Not :) Dying :) Today :)
My socks: please just let us die already
Me: No :)
The rain pours but I am warm,
Autumn is here in full swing;
Time to darn my socks.
Feeling a haiku for autumn today, got my pumpkin spice candle going, a cosy jumper and warm slippers on, a hot chocolate with nutmeg and ginger, and a craft to make @wastelesscrafts proud.
