Pride Month Recommendations- Day 8

Hello, my lovelies! I’m back today to recommend one of my favorite visual novels: Hustle Cat by Date Nighto. I’ve raved about it several times already, but I’ll gladly do so again.

You play as Avery Grey, the epitome of a millennial disaster queer, who gets a job at a cat cafe where every employee is cursed to turn into a cat whenever they leave the premises. By learning magic, finding love, and uncovering the secrets surrounding the cafe, Avery figures out how to break the curse and save their new friends.

One thing I love about this game is that you can pick your pronouns. You can be he/him, she/her, or they/them. It doesn’t make a difference concerning who you can romance, which makes all of the love interests pansexual! It’s also very easy to headcanon other things about these characters, since the narrative leaves such things open. I personally like to headcanon Reese as a transman, for example.

The characters are likeable and three-dimensional, the music is great, and the art is adorable. Also, there are cats. Need I say more?

I forgot how much I loved Hustle Cat and especially Graves Serling. It’s probably my favorite dating sim. I can’t resist a cat-loving coffee-drinking magic-casting tired elder goth.

After a long break (from most games in general) because of study shenanigans, I finally, FINALLY got to finish Hustle Cat. What an amazing, hilarious and utterly adorable game that is. I love it so much. I love all the characters (yes, I’m partial to Graves - but no one who knows me is surprised by that). I love the story. The writing. The art. The music. All of it. The diversity and inclusivity in it is fantastic as well. 

And of course. Witches, magic, and cat cafes? Who can say no to that?

I’m so happy to finally have done all of the routes (you can’t imagine how long i’ve wanted to sit down and get to that secret route, dammit), and I have no doubt I’ll come back to it again in the future. And pester all my friends to play it. Again.
