The first episode of Star trek Discovery premiered on September 24, 2017. The events of the series began a decade before the adventures of Star Trek TOS. The series introduced Philippa Georgiou (Michelle Yeoh), who would go on to star in the Star Trek movie Star Trek: Division 31. The premiere episode mainly took place on May 11, 2256. Spock's father, Sarek (James Frain), appeared in the episode, who was previously portrayed by Mark Lenard and Jonathan Simpson. Instead of the Enterprise, this series focused on the starship Discovery. Due to the passing of Majel Barrett, Tasia Velenza took over as the voice of the computers. RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK
Internationally renown graverobber, archaeologist, and associate professor Henry "Indiana" Jones, Jr. gets hired by the US government to stop the Nazis from gaining the mythical "Ark of the Covenant," an old testament legendary box that holds the pieces of the Ten Commandments. If the Nazis got it they could destroy entire armies and whatnot! Hey, something I wanna know is you know how there's Nazis and Proud Boys and etc these days? Do they feel bad when a bunch of Nazis get shot or beat up by Indiana Jones or have their faces melted off by the Ark?
GRADE: A+
STAR TREK: DISCOVERY - "The Vulcan Hello/Battle At The Binary Stars"
The USS Shenzhou (hey that's not the name of the show!) investigates a little satellite in random space that turns out to be a pager for all the Klingons in all the houses. Uh oh! First Officer Michael Burnham, a human raised by Vulcans so she has like a stoic demeanor, has some maybe lingering prejudice against Klingons since some killed her parents, so she commits some light mutiny and starts a war. Looking back, Discovery has definitely come a long way since these episodes - the Klingon portrayal is still grating in this episode, even though I know it gets better. They all sound like they're speaking with mouths full of Jujy Fruits!
GRADE: C+
