January and 2019 Plan with me
Hi guys! For this post, I’m going to walk through my goals and plans for January and 2019 as a whole, using the Day Designer Agenda.
One of my problems in the past with resolutions is having too many goals that are too specific, which makes me get discouraged and want to quit as soon as I get off track. For this year, I’ve decided to come up with a few general things to focus on this year, and from there I can set smaller goals and instill new habits to become an overall better person. In 2019, a focus of mine is going to be my overall health and wellness, both mental and physical. So some goals and habits I’m looking to stick with are meditating, yoga, working out, and following a healthier, plant-based diet. These are all personal choices that I’ve found helped me in the past when I’ve gotten into them so they will be my priority this year to treat myself and my body better. I will be posting a more in-depth overview of my fitness goals and plans to fully explain what steps I’ll be taking on my fitness journey.
For my monthly spread, I want to pencil in any deadlines, dates, and reminders for the upcoming month. I actually HATE writing in pencil and I would love to make this page neat and color-code, but for me, that’s not what works. By doing this, I can see the month and be able to change things before making my weekly spread, which is where the deadlines and dates will be set in stone. The monthly view being flexible allows me to keep the weekly spreads neater, and make sure I keep track of dates as soon as I find them out.
My favorite thing about the Day Designer agenda is that each day has its own page and there is a space with time blocks as well as a to-do list. On the Sunday before a new week, I like to plan out as much as I can for the week ahead (Stay tuned for a full productive Sunday routine). This includes blocking off time for classes that week, putting reminders for assignments due or any meetings or activities I may have planned. I try to avoid writing out to do lists until the night before, in case I finish things early or end up pushing them back due to more pressing deadlines. For now, you’ll see my time blocking is pretty much empty, because I am on winter break and have fewer things planned for a certain time.
When I plan on Sundays or the start of a month, I basically just try to visualize what needs to be done so I can effectively divide work and try not to cram everything before a deadline. Breaking up bigger assignments into a piece for each day has really helped me be a more organized and less overwhelmed person. My agenda is actually my lifeline and I think by organizing dates and setting realistic resolutions and goals I can make this year one filled with growth. Let me know what helps you plan and if any of my resolutions apply to you, I’d love to share some tips and tricks to all motivate one another.
