I want to start this post by saying YAY FOR BOOKS 📚 I'm 💜ing the one I'm reading right now and the three before that were even better. The run started with GIRLS MADE OF SNOW AND GLASS, a feminist take on SNOW WHITE by Melissa Bashardoust. I 💜 how this book reworks key parts of the original story, but still has the feel of a fairy-tale✨ The mother/daughter reconciliation at the end literally made me cry with happiness 🥹 and the 👭 romance was handled super well too. After that, I couldn't resist rolling into GIRL, SERPENT, THORN, another Melissa Bashardoust masterpiece. This one has its roots in Persian mythology, but has the same fairy tale quality, which I can't get enough of. The characters feel real and I was so engaged in the story I could hardly stop reading. Next up was A LESSON IN VENGEANCE by Victoria Lee, a dark academia horror💀 with some super twists and turns, while the latest is THE SOCIETY FOR SOULESS GIRLS, a sapphic thriller/mystery set in a prestigious English college with a dark past. It's such fun losing yourself in these books and exploring their worlds 🗺️🧭
Talking of other worlds, I think it's about time to take you back to my version of the DCU in...
🦸♀️THE FALL OF SUPERGIRL, PART 5🦸♀️ Fearing Supergirl might somehow overcome the crippling effects of the kryptonite and start to fight back 🥊, her unseen enemy ties her up 🪢 She lies comatose as he runs the thick ropes round and round her body. If she were at full strength she could have broken them easily, but the radiation is continuing to envelop her, leaving her helpless. When the villain is done, he places the noxious block of kryptonite by her head, where it can continue its deadly attack with maximum effect, and steps back to admire his handiwork, cackling wildly. Who is this dastardly foe who has managed to overcome the valiant girl of steel so completely❓❓ Stay tuned and all will be revealed...
