Regarding Raven's New Design

If you saw this character without any context, would you guess Raven? She looks absolutely nothing like any version of her. Whether you prefer Raven's NTT look with sharp features and long black hair, or her cartoon look with her short purple bob, this simply isn't Raven in the slightest.

It's so crazy how no one ever brings up how in the 80s comics Trigon was literally canonically sexually abusing Raven... it's a huge reason why she's so scared of intimacy and relationships but then it was never brought up once Gar and Raven started dating which is so tragic to me... like did Raven feel like she has to hide it from Gar?

I really wish there was a fic out there properly addressing it... imagine Raven finally coming clean, and telling Gar what happened, so convinced he'll leave... but then Gar reassures her and tells her he loves her as much as ever. And Raven just starts sobbing from relief, because she kept this secret for so long, and now she finally told her love and it was fine...

Dream grunted as he woke up, eye sockets blinking open only to hiss at the harsh light of the sun. Some object shaded them, and his vision struggled to focus before a moment before it could went back to normal.

“Dream? Are you okay? You just- fainted!”

“I… yeah. I’m-“ He took a moment to catch his breath, looking down at his hands as he sat up. “… I’m fine. Must not be sleeping enough, heh.”

It was clear Blue at the very least didn’t believe him, but Ink just smiled. “Okay! Come on, I wanna keep showing you the AU!”

“Alright.”

Given how heavily Piccolo's art takes from the 2003 cartoon I was pleasantly surprised to see Damian. Like, I'm not the biggest Damian fan but this version was likeable and they're seemingly not going to villainize Talia for the sake of his existence in this continuity.

He does seem to have daddy issues with Bruce though. ALSO although he has lighter eyes his skin tone and overall face structure makes it evident that he's of mixed Asian decent. So point for him not being white washed for once. Oh, and his interactions with Max was cute.

Apparently the next book in the series is going to be centered around Dick and Damian.

Amazon finally delivered my copy of Beast Boy loves Raven nearly a month after the release (even tho I pre-ordered A YEAR ago, thnx amazon) and I came here hoping a good soul who bought the Walmart and B&N editions would post the extras of those editions, but I can't find them.

Are y'all and Picolo really gonna make my broke ass buy the other 2 editions? I'm begging you 😩

I really liked the comic (I'm a sucker for Picolo's art, I'll eat up anything that dude creates), I only have 2 complaints about the story

First: I LOVE BBRae, but I still think their realationship was kinda rushed. I wish Kami would've taken at least another issue to evolve their relationship and get them together, but I guess we already had (kind of, but not really) 3 issues focused on them and they wanted to move forward to other characters, which is fine, but still. I think they could've moved on to other characters and evolved BBRae a bit in the background, maybe? (kind of like what she did with Damien and Max).

Second: Since I mentioned them, that is the other topic I have a problem with: Damien and Max. I can see the appeal of these two together, but I think it would've been so much better if they had established Damien as gay. A lot of people ship him with Jon (Clark's and Lois's son) already (including ~ahem~ myself) and they could have set them up for a future issue.

And I hadn't realized until D&M were hinted at in this issue, but I thought Max was already established as a lesbian? I'll reread the first issue to be sure, maybe she's bi, or maybe I just imagined it, but it would've been so awesome if she was lesbian or bi and maybe they could've introduced her in a relationship with another girl.

Since Gabriel is part of the community he could've pitched the idea to Kami for us, but I guess they didn't think about it.

C'mon guys, it's 2021 and this series is supposed to be YA, right? Some LGBT representation would be nice.

Besides that I love it, BBRae galore, conflict and action, and Gabriel's amazing illustrations, are everything I could've hoped for.

Side note: Kind of disappointed with the next issue already, I was hoping it would be Starfire, but I guess she'll feature (unless it's an origin story issue). I never really cared too much about Robin (none of them lol; ok maybe Jason).

I just want to say that its good that kory is getting a story focused on her daughter’s relationship w her. because other stories about her and dick’s children are primarily focused on dick (kory being dead in kingdom and dick being the main character in nightwing new order with kory coming in p late in the game)
