In (ddb) Polyhex it's a tradition to cover one's optics, the windows to their soul, from others aside from conjunx, immediate family, and amica. (most don't generally remove their visor/optic coverage around amica casually). This tradition does have practical reasons too, as Polyhexians have generally weak eyesight under normal conditions and being visorless leaves them relatively vulnerable.
