I’m serious guys - maybe it’s my very wholesome algorithm (or that part of the internet is more wholesome than most…probably not 😅), but all of the stuff under that hashtag that floats onto my feed once in a while under the “Submas” hashtag is like very innocent, brotherly affection kind of stuff (hand-holding, hugs, maybe a chaste forehead kiss?) that I often cannot tell the difference.

I wasn’t aware that you can block hashtags, though - you learn something new everyday. ⭐️🌈

I’m gonna take this moment to address something that’s been bothering me for a while now, as I get a lot of Asks like “so-and-so’s a blankshipper” or “they’re friends with a blankshipper / spoken kindly to blankshippers”.

I think I have a relatively short list of people that I hate, & have fairly specific dealbreakers. It’s mostly stuff like abuse or bullying / enabling said abuse / toxic behavior / anything that is not absolute zero tolerance to SA (especially with children) / people who pretend to be good people when they are anything but / just about anything under the “Red Hat” umbrella / etc.

There are plenty of people who do fit those categories out there (some checking ALL of those boxes, earning themselves a spot on my hate list), though there doesn’t seem to be lot of them here, or at least follow me, from what I’ve seen?

This year I've found out that 2 of the people I'd been interested in are smokers.

Oh smoke sweat? Yeah that's a real thing that can happen by the way. I gave it my best shot dating this smoker I liked years ago, and it got to a point where I thought he wasn't showering, I couldn't figure out why he was starting to smell so bad. Eventually came to realize it was because he had switched to smoking cigars so heavily it was permeating his body.

So yeah not interested in smokers, instant turn off, already made an effort to try despite my discomfort, and yeah I get it I know people can't quit an addiction just because you want them without it that's unreasonable.

So I just walk away.

I've realized that my polyamory is a dealbreaker and I need to leave my 5-year mono relationship

I have been in a monogamous lesbian relationship with my girlfriend for 5 years, when about a year and a half ago, I realized that I am both bi + poly. I did a lot of research + soul searching, and then 8 months ago I told her how I was feeling. It didn't go well, we swept it under the rug and I've tried very hard just to sit on these feelings. I realized now that for me, it's my identity and likely a deal breaker: how do I have this conversation again, knowing it will end in a breakup?

If you know it will end in a breakup, there's not much else to be done, or scripted, or strategized. It's heartbreaking and painful to end a 5 year relationship, but it's understandable, and normal, to have to do so after learning about a dealbreaker.

You let her know that you've tried monogamy with her, and you've tried to 'sit on' these feelings, and now you have 8 months worth of information about how it feels and whether it's working for her. You explain that, unfortunately, you've realized this is a dealbreaker, and so you need to break the deal, and leave the relationship. This conversation will suck - breakups always do. But it's important and necessary.

Try not to frame it as "you wouldn't let me date polyamorously, so I have to leave - this is your fault." It's no one's fault, it's just how the universe has shaken out. You two were good together for five years, and nothing can change or erase that, but you're not good to continue dating into the future. Give her the space she needs to grieve, and rage.
