DEATH HC: ORIGINS & TRIVIA

These headcanons are for a slowburn DeathPuss fic. It's pretty much like my main headcanons for the world-building for the Shrekverse I hope to write one day. As it is, these HCs got nothing to do with the Vida!Puss fic idea I had before

Anyways, take a seat because it's gonna be a bit lengthy but I still hope you'll enjoy:

Muerte de la Abismo (aka Death)

- He is the eldest of the Five Children of the Abyss (aka Caos -Chaos-) which consists of himself, Tiempo (Time), Espacio (Space), Destino (Fate/Destiny) and Vida (Life)

- one of the ways for mortals to recognize the Children of the Abyss is from their eyes which is by their black sclera. The siblings dubbed it as them being abyssborn

- Out of those in his family, Muerte is closest to his Mother; Caos and his brother; Tiempo

- has a sibling rivalry with Vida, being THE classic case of the eldest vs the youngest

- out of all of his siblings, Muerte finds Destino the most exasperating with Espacio being a close second

- All canines are based off on him, with the wolves closest into resembling him

- His symbol/sigil is that of a crescent

- Myths about the 4 Horsemen are all actually him which is why out of all 4 Horsemen, Death was the only one who had a name which was Thanatos:

White of Conquest: his fur

Red of War: his eyes

Black of Pestilence: his cloak

Pale of Death: his sickles

- Death has many names over the years, with the most common being Thanatos, Azrael, Hades and Ausir. As it is, he prefers to go simply by Death and eventually Muerte when he became friends with Puss

- To maintain his compassion within his work, his mother asked that Muerte would live as a mortal once every month. Muerte dubbed this phase as his New Moon phase (inspired by Inuyasha). His new moon form is that of a human with his signature coloring

- Muerte is unmatched even in his mortal form, terrifyingly dangerous and powerful

- while Puss isn't the 1st mortal he's loved, the cat is the 1st one he's ever fallen in love with when he's as himself instead of whenever he's mortal

Notes: I’m not really doing these like normal prompt requests, so I’d rather not get a specific request with these, as it takes away the fun of me coming up with my own headcanons. Also, since I am only doing like 1-3 headcanons for each response, it’s harder to fulfill specific requests like this, so I’m sorry if they aren’t any good and there is not as many as you’d like.

Aaron Hotchner

★ Hotch felt responsible for you, as he did with the rest of the team. So when you had been shot down right in front of him his heart shattered. He grabbed onto you and pulled you to safety, yelling for medics as he let the others return fire to protect the two of you.

★ Aaron has lost a lot of people so as he saw the life leave your eyes he squeezed you tightly as if he could keep the life back in your body. 

★ He started to talk to you, begging you to stay awake to just keep your eyes open, not to give up, you could do it, you can keep fighting, just hold on. 

★ He was heartbroken when you couldn’t do it, he didn’t blame you though, he blamed himself for not being able to save you, or get you out of danger.

Okay, forgive me for my definitely bad English, but I need to talk about it: there's this hc where Hashirama's mokuton wildly activates according to his feelings (in his first kiss, flowers bloomed around him... in a news from death, the surrounding herbs died, etc). I think about it often, of course. It's great. But, here's the fact that: if the mokuton gets out of hand, if he helps Hashirama live, he might somehow kill him. I had read somewhere about it: that after Madara's murder and the village getting into excessive combat, adding to the clear exhaustion factor that thinking the great Shodaime felt, his mokuton ran wildly and poisoned him, like a deadly little berry that we can accidentally eat from a bush. And so, he died. By his own power, since I can't think of anyone to murder him. Perhaps he embraced this opportunity too, being exhausted, and did nothing against the poisoning of his own body. Because MAYBE, he could do something. If he wanted to, like a damn hermit, he could just find the cure and get rid of it, as his cells still survived, but again, the exhaustion factor killed him. It's a rather sad HC, but what's not sad about the Founders?

Thank you for this, I sorta love it and the drama. Even though I generally don't agree with the HC of Hashi's mokuton being out of hand (he's a God of Shinobi, if his mokuton was out of hands, he would just train more and it infantilizes him), I can see that if it was the case, the death would actually make sense. I didn't think of it, but it's a very interesting take. If his mokuton produced some poison, it could kill him.

Content warnings for exclusion of a group in a school setting (sorcerers and necromancers), death mentions, grief, child death.

Not many Death students were aware of Nightside, actually. Not for any nefarious reason, simply because it was old, abandoned, and structurally dangerous. A few outsiders in the Death school occupied it, sometimes a stray child found their way to it and stayed, but it was still dangerous.

The streets had the undead crawling them even before Malistaire caused the influx of monstrous infestations in most of Wizard City. Unless one was quiet and willing to take the risk, they usually thought of Nightside as a last resort, a place unsuitable for living unless one was desperate.

When the Young Wizard waltzed into Nightside, finding the fallen Death school and a neighborhood hiding beneath Wizard City, they told Ambrose, and word got out to the other necromancer students, those without a school now, only learning from a teacher’s assistant who got way in over his head.

The Death students had lost a lot, in the past few months. Two teachers, for Sylvia was always open to speak to her husband’s students, and Malistaire himself was…

The Death students all thought Malistaire Drake was a good man, before. But grief could cause a good man to do unforgivable things. They all remember when the Death School fell. When its very foundations were cleaved from Ravenwood, taking even their school tree with it.

Those students all swore, silently, in grim stares over funeral rites, that they would never forget it. The shrill and frightened screams of a class in session, who were inside the school where they were supposed to be safe, where instead they died or were presumed dead, with no body to bury.

At first, the students had been given distance to grieve and process what had happened, as the life students had been when Sylvia died suddenly. But then the distance was kept, the void between the Death school and the other schools growing larger as resentment festered, as fear sank its insidious claws into the weak willed.

And so the necromancers became outsiders, just as the sorcerers had a scant few years ago when Arthur Wethersfield came to Ravenwood, sand still in his fur from his studies in Krokotopia. Considering the necromancers’ dorm had fallen, as it was a part of the Death school, a lot of the Death students ended up staying in the tents of the makeshift Balance school, the rest of them finding refuge in their secondary school’s dorms, pressured to switch into that secondary school instead of staying in the now ostracized Death school.

Things changed when word spread that the Young Wizard had found Nightside, something that was nothing more than a rumor before, but now was a reality, a reality that contained the lost Death school, and tree, and the teacher that had been running class the day it fell, and surviving students.

And so most of the necromancers in Wizard City vanished, down into Nightside, only the very young remaining up top with Malorn Ashthorn, living alongside the few Balance students.

The first wave of students who entered Nightside were the adventurous, the strong, the stubborn. Those who were unafraid of a long, arduous battle, who worked hard to get where they were and then watched as everything was pulled out from under them in the same moment the Death school was. So they wanted it all back, and went to Nightside at the first opportunity.

They ducked into the cave behind the waterfall by Rainbow Bridge, shaking their heads or wringing out their hats, some of the more lively of them giggling at the drizzle of water. A few of the group trailed their hands along rough brown stone, dirt brushing against them, reminiscent of too much dust on bookshelves.

The door was in front of them, partially open, a black key in the lock, the skull of the Death school front and center for them all to see.

A few of them rushed forward, throwing open the doors, grinning, eyes wide as they took in a brand new sight that was almost too aesthetically on point for them to handle. One of the leaders of the group yelped, elated at the sight in front of them, and ran to tackle Marla Stinger in a hug, one of the missing necromancers found again, no longer to be presumed dead. The rest stood back, looking up and seeing the strange half cavern, some of them approaching Mortis, greeting the tree as a lost friend.

The group spread out, investigating, searching the school that felt like home but was now in a new place, no longer quite the same.

Some of them still stood there, at the entrance to Nightside, and looked up at the ceiling. There were roots of Bartleby breaking through the dirt, a winding sight that some would have to investigate further.

The group would swear, later, that there was onyx gems embedded into the cavern walls of Nightside, and that it was a sign that they belonged there.

Spending a Rainy Day with Death headcannons

A rainy day with Death would involve:

-Cuddling in bed

-Having pizza

-And tea

-Watching movies

-Death actually quite likes Disney movies, so you watch those

-After a few movies you just lay there and listen to the sound of the rain

-Having nice talks

-Playing board games

-Reading next to each other

-If it’s cold you cuddle by the fire instead

-Watching the rain while he braids your hair

-Having music playing softly while you watch the rain

-If there’s thunder and lightening you watch it from the porch

-You shut off all the lights so you can see it really well

-You do have candles on, however

-If you’re afraid of thunder and lightening he’ll cuddle with you under the covers

-He’ll also talk to you and put on the Tv or radio as loud as he can so it blocks some of the sound

- Looking through old photos - whether that be old as in the beginning of your relationship old, or 1870 old, that’s up to you-

-If you’re looking at really old photos you ask him a lot of questions

-Which he’s happy to answer

-Making smoothies and milkshakes with whatever you have in the house

- Dancing

- Maybe do a puzzle if you’re into that, I feel like Death is the type of person to put finished jigsaw puzzles on walls

- Death really enjoys playing Mario Kart

DEATH HC: CHAOS & HER 5 CHILDREN

Fair warning, this is can be pretty long. Either way, i hope you'll enjoy 🤩👍

• Chaos or Caos is the primordial entity of the Shrekverse. She's known as the Abyss by many

• since the Shrekverse is based on fairytales, Caos in her true form resembles an inkwell or a womb. She later on gave birth to the Five, with Death as the eldest

• once the Five are born, Caos created the Shrekverse not unlike how ink spread across the pages of a blank storybook

• the Core or the Void is her domain, and where everything began

• she loves all of her children but trusts Death the most as he's the most level headed and fairest amongst the Five

Caos:

Physical form: unlike her children, her physical form doesn't resemble anthropomorphic animals. Instead, she takes the form a humanoid abyss black liquid with three pairs of bright white eyes

- Personality: stern yet very motherly. All of her children deeply love and respect her, and would without hesitation, cower in fear if she's ever angered

- Symbol: ●

- Mortal name: Caos de la Abismo

- Human form: a beautiful plump woman of average height, white pupils with black sclera and long white hair in a bun. Usually dresses modestly in patterned dresses and a shawl over her shoulders

Signature traits of the de la Abismo family:

- white coats

• The Five Children of the Abyss from oldest to youngest:

1. Muerte:

- eldest child, prefers to be a loner but has a strong sense of family. The most responsible of the Five, known to be fair and coldly logical. While people would say he resembles a wolf, its the other way around as wolves are the closest mortal creatures to resemble him. Another would be jackles as Vida based their ears on her brother, which is how Anubis came to be for the Egyptians

- True name: unspeakable for the mortal tongue. Usually goes by Muerte now

- Symbol: crescent

- Human form: a man who stands 7ft tall and dangerously powerful. Short messy white hair (with an undercut) that frames a ruggedly handsome face. Notable for his sophisticated beard, fanged smirk and jagged birthmark over his red eyes. Retains his black sclera even in his mortal form

- Mortal name: Muerte de la Abismo (literally Death of the Abyss)

- Consort: Puss...eventually 🤣 it's a slowburn, what can you do?

- Children: the 3 Diablos (when he and Puss got together, eventually biologically as well which will be revealed later on)

2. Tiempo:

- 2nd oldest, known for his calm meditative personality

- is the older twin brother to Espacio

- Physical form: a tall, white rabbit with orange irises and black sclera. Wears a monocle and a deep red coattail jacket. always has an hourglass in his pocket

- Symbol: hourglass

- Human form: looks very much like a tall nobleman, with a thin moustache and his family's signature white hair slicked back

- Mortal name: Tiempo de la Abismo

- Consort: ?

- Children: Day, Night

3. Espacio:

- the 3rd child, known for his natural airheadedness and eccentric wisdom

- the younger twin brother of Tiempo

- Physical form: a pure white eagle with a tail of a peacock. Has violet eyes and wears a long galaxy coloured toga

- Symbol: star

- Human form: looks and dresses like a scholar with sharp aquiline features. His long white hair is tied into a low ponytail and is never without a compass

- Mortal name: Espacio de la Abismo

- Consort: Ganymede

- Children: the 4 seasons, the 9 planets, the Moon, the Starweaver, the Sun

4. Destino:

- the 4th child, known for her cryptic personality and is widely agreed by the family as the resident 'little shit'

- Physical form: a white spider with heterochromatic eyes of blue and yellow who wears a yellow blouse and a blue barret on her head

- Symbol: web

- Human form: a petite woman with blue and yellow eyes and a white pixie cut underneath her barret. She dresses like an artist, complete with a smock over her frame

- Mortal name: Destino de la Abismo

- Consort: ?

- Children: every known emotion, with Hope being the eldest

5. Vida:

- the youngest of the Five, known for her cheerful yet shrewd personality. Has an ongoing rivalry with her brother Muerte and is the resident prankster alongside Destino

- Physical form: a white snake with deep green eyes and has a waterlily on the side of her head. Wears long flowy dresses

- Symbol: circle

- Human form: a tall, lithe woman with long white hair tied in a french braid. Tends to wear long, flowy dresses and goes barefooted all the time

- Mortal name: Vida de la Abismo

- Consort: Prometheus

- Children: ?

The death dorms aren’t really in use at all, but a few people are trying to fix them up.

Most of the students can see ghosts that people of other schools can’t, and those ghosts can get emotionally attached to necromancers.

A necromancer’s ghost usually isn’t transparent, and they can pass as human if they want to.

Students of other schools feel cold/scared when ghosts pass through them but necromancers feel the warmth of another body. 

A lot of death students aren’t big on human contact. 

A lot of them are touch starved t b h.

Class was in session when the death school fell. Dworgyn, as well as 30ish kids were in the school, and most of them didn’t make it out alive.

Hazbin Hotel's Death headcanons

Adam

Being implied to have been the first human to die in the Hellaverse according to Sera.

If they're following Biblical lore it means he died from exhaustion but in this iteration, he died much, much earlier than Eve who passed away at 930 (giving her enough kids to populate Earth; Cain and Abel confirmed and arguably their siblings like Seth, Aclima, Norea and Azura, unsure if they're gonna give the Eden couple 50 kids like in the original story)

Or Adam wasn't able to survive Primordial Earth, the harsh conditions leading to his death either by animals attacking him or catching a disease.

Zeezi

Accident on a rave/party she threw for being too wild, to the point of destroying everything where she went. Like a dinosaur wrecking havoc.

Prick and Hatchet.

Prick´ss cowboy aesthetic and liking for fighting inplies he was a corrupt cowboy so he might have died in a fight he started by colliding with a cactus as he bled out. Or he could have died from dehydration unable to find a cactus with water and his death reflects that as a way to torment him.

Meanwhile, Hatchet´s name and his weapon of choice (daggers) could be a good indicator; my guess is that he died in a fight with an axe or another form of meelee weapon attacking him from behind, crushing vital organs and why he has that tail.

Maestro.

His whole orchestra aesthetic and having a flaming skull as head could indicate he died in a fire that burnt whatever orchestra he performed in and it melted his skin off leaving only the bone.

Zestial.

He's an arachnid insect like demon who's very sneaky and speaks in old English dialect.

Assuming he comes from the 1600s is very possible he died due to the plague or a disease transmitted or just stung with venom by a spider which made his body go from a healthy shape into the skeletical physique he's got.

Carmilla

Her whole theme is centered around ballet and this art was known not just for how graceful it was but for hiding a darker nature (aka prostitution) which if we apply to Carmilla, it'd mean she most certainly was living two lifes with one focused on her job; my best guess would have been running a black market, as we've seen how well expierenced she is at her business.

If we take the theory that she's from Spain, im guessing possible deaths for her would be around late 1800's and/or early 1900's because of the highly unstable political climate of the country and Picasso's association with Russian Ballet as a possible inspiration for her design theme.

Her family was also in this business so I'm guessing them having similar deaths to her like getting caught and shot dead or perphans following darker fates of the characters they were inspired by; Odette out of either a broken heart or suicide and Clara by being burnt alive.

The Vees.

Considering they're a group, it wouldn't be shocking they followed a similar pattern with Vox's death: Craving more but not stopping when they should have.

Valentino.

Moths search for the light, uncaring if it hurts or kills them.

My guess is that in trying to get the most gratification or satisfaction, he died. Given his smoke themed powers my guess is intoxication coming from a life long addiction to tobbacco that affected his lungs or perphans smoke inhalation or just plain drugs in general, not unlike Angel dying from an overdose. There's also the possiblity of him having caught an STD and not realizing until too late or just unable to treat it when he needed.

Velvette .

We know she´s a doll demon and she's not above using misinformation to bring her rivals down and, if the situation calls for it, she's going to throw hands as we saw with Charlie, her wanting to skin Carmilla and squash Niffty like a bug.

Either one of her social media witch hunt's many victims snapped and pushed her off a high building to her death and it destroyed her joints.

Or, assuming a part of her pilot concept is still there, she was crazy enough to mingle with the wrong people to feed her drug obsession and it ended badly as in getting dismembered.

The Hazbin Hotel Crew

We have canonical deaths for Alastor (shot to the head) and Angel (overdose) on top of Charlie and Vaggie never truly dying due to being Hellborn and Heavenborn so we have to theorize for the others.

Unhorary member, Mimzy.

Given her personality and toxic habits; she bit more than she could chew which translated to dealing with the wrong people and, without Alastor there to fix her problems, this put her in the grave (I mean, the teeth pattern of her dress and this artwork depicting her with wolves)

Niffty

The 50s were known for dangerous beauty standards that women had to go through in order to be pretty enough to marry someone. Like makeup with continents that had negative effect on the skin besides the use of drugs like anfetamines to get housework done quicker. And lobotomies were still practiced in that era.

Cyclops in mythology are known to represent narrowness or an intense, singular focus sometimes to the point of raw, untame nature and strength and savagery contrasting civilization.

Combine the pressure to find a husband and the possible mythological inspiration and you get someone like Niffty.

Also the 50s weren't a good time if you were Asian. So she probably expierenced discrimination like Alastor did in his lifetime. Which combined with her being a woman meant she had to work even harder to please society. She must have felt like an insect that didn't belong.

But it wasn't enough and her husband cheated on her which caused Niffty a mental breakdown where she might have killed her husband and misstress. But she wasn't caught why? Well, her magic is themed around stitches and she takes good care of messes as a maid.

Niffty likes bad boys and being forced. So my guess is that she tried to find another one that at least corresponded her feelings but it always ended the same. Obviously the police caught to the disappearences and shot her dead.

However there's also the possiblity that the spot/dot pattern of her clothes might have been a consequence of her obsessing with looking perfect for a possible partner which injured her health drastically due to the harmfull cosmetics on her skin which caused her to throw up blood.

I dont really have an explanation for the camera thing; itcould be just her being camera shy to an extreme, prior bad expierences when being filmed or just an Alastor thing. However, there's the fact she likes porn and writes fanfiction which combined with her liking towards being forced might indicate something darker.

Husk

So far, what we know about his life is the fact he lived in Las Vegas in a casino where he watched magic shows and was exposed to jazz music from a young age, playing the saxophone in lounge bars when alive.

Why a cat? The term can be used for people that like or play jazz but these critters are known for their cunning and cold demeanor but soft interior.

He did say he lost the hability to love years ago in the pilot and its hinted again in Love in a bottle with his line "booze doesn't screw or fucks you over"

He grew up learning how to cheat through life and can detect when someone is lying, developed a poker face and is surprisingly patient. This might have affected his love life when it came to detect if his partners were being honest or not and with a troublesome love life he dove right into drinking to cope.

He could have died from alcohol poisoning or a past lover betrayed him like say getting Husk intoxicated enough not to analize his surroundings and took advantage of that by killing him. Maybe by pushing him off a roof or high building so people would assume it was suicide or that he was so drunk he didn't realize where he went or stabbing him in the heart after sex; with Husk's head on the clouds or him in Cloud 9 hence the wings as a cruel reminder of that.

Pentious.

Either died from a work related incident or he took his own life out of guilt for the murders he allowed to happen.

The snake theme could be for how he snuck around quietly, letting the murders take place but theres also the possiblity of Pen having been contaminated by snake poison although I find this unlikely considering how much of a shut in he was in life and as far as we know Jack the Ripper never interacted with him after the assasinations.

Cherri.

Bomb related incident where one of her bombs didn't activate at the right time and it blew up on her face. Literally. Think of Jinx in ep 9 where she blows herself up and we see her skin and muscles tearing open and her bones breaking.

Again cyclops are known to have one purpose in life hence the singular eye so its very possible, given her rebellious nature and having lived between the 60 to the 80's, that she might have wanted to rebel against the systems that kept pushing her down as a woman. But in the wrong way, with Cherri going as far as to be classified as a terrorist.

Baxter.

Back in the pilot era, his death was at the Titanic.

Perphans some part of it remains there with his death being a sea/fish related incident with him drowning or he could have tampered with aquatic life for his experiments which didn't work out for him in the end.

And not released yet buuuut...

Crymini.

She's a hyena which symbolize things such as violence/savagery, greed/theft and caos so it fits with her rebellious personality and might represent the kind of life she had.

Being the youngest sinner in the show, dying at 19 in the 90's; aka a decade with a rise of street gangs whose activities included violence and at times drug trafficking or distribution and hyenas are pack animals so its very likely she came from a troubled home and joined a street gang, participating in crimes perphans not to extremes of killing but commiting physical assault and theft.

Her death could have been due to her gang betraying her when she needed them most (a territorial fight that ended badly or they killed her for money) or a dog related incident a la Alastor. (But really though it has to suck that your body is telling you that you're a literal bitch).
