hi i think it’s kind of sad that L’s monster speech in relight is always quoted without the visuals it goes along with so here’s a transcript

(L logo on a computer) there are many types of monsters in this world.

(pan to mello) monsters who will not show themselves and cause trouble,

(pan to the crowd of wammy kids) monsters who abduct children, monsters who devour dreams, monsters who suck blood,

(pan to near) and… monsters who always tell lies.

(back to the L computer) lying monsters are a real nuisance. they are much more cunning than other monsters.

(picture of L in a hallway, walking in the other direction from the wammy kids) they pose as humans, even though they have no understanding of the human heart;

(picture of the wammy cafeteria, focusing on mello, who is eating by himself away from the other kids) they eat, even though they’ve never experienced hunger;

(picture of near in a library sitting alone at a desk) they study, even though they have no interest in academics;

(picture of a boy reaching out to another boy crying on a staircase) (note: the staircase scene is not in relight) they seek friendship, even though they do not know how to love.

(back to the wammy kids listening to L’s speech enraptured) if i were to encounter such a monster, i would likely be eaten by it

Light's dad in Relight

I was re-watching Death Note: Relight and realized that Soichiro Yagami doesn't die in this universe, rather Light says he stepped down from the investigation, and thus he will live to find out his son was Kira all along.

I think he deserves to know the truth but damn it hurts after seeing how happy he was when he thought Light wasn’t Kira in the og universe. Now imagine if he was in the warehouse with them. What if he was the one to shoot Light instead of Matsuda? What if he thinks he killed Light since they don't see Ryuk do it in the anime?
