Happy lifeaversary/deathaversary to me. Some of you know the story: I don’t celebrate my birthday, I celebrate today as my death day. The day I almost died on a plane and came to the first realization that I won’t be the first human being to live forever. I still keep this hospital bracelet as my most precious souvenir. It’s important to meditate on our mortality. Let every third thought be of the grave, as Shakespeare said — To realize that death comes for us all, eventually. But, when you get the opportunity to stand bold and defiant in the face of it, it’s important to celebrate the day you gave mortality the middle finger and said “Fuck You. Not today.” So, today serves as a reminder not to squander my precious time as if I have an ever abundant supply. To not waste it on things that serve no purpose. To be relentless in the pursuit of life. So, that when death finally comes for me and succeeds, I wont go quietly. It’s going to have to work pretty damn hard to take me, dragging, punching, kicking and screaming into the dark with a middle finger raised up the whole way. #stoicism #mementomori #lifeaversary #deathaversary https://www.instagram.com/p/CnkVkVlPA1J/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
