Abandoned Playground
❛ you know , frisbees are traditionally caught with your hands , not your face . ❜
“Dammit, dammit, dammit-!’ Hushed curses flowed from her lips as easily as a sailor’s, Toko’s whole body hunched over with her hands clasped around her nose and mouth. Hell, she didn’t even hear the yell of “Sorry!” that came from across the courtyard, neither did she acknowledge the clatter of footsteps as the owner of the frisbee came to retrieve it. They must’ve thought if they weren’t found out, there’d be no consequences as they were gone before Toko could get a word out.
Fine then. Whatever. Toko was more concerned with the liquid she felt pooling up in her palms, the rich scent of copper filling her senses as blood leaked sluggishly from her nose. “No, n-no, no....” Eyes shut tight, her glasses - which were already askew - flinging from her face and onto the grass.
Someone chuckled. Behind her far away, probably the same asshole who did this to her in the first place. She could hear his buddies too- Shit. Shit, shit!! She shook her head, forcing herself up to her feet but only heard louder giggles as her legs gave out for a moment before catching herself.
Her head hurt, but people were still laughing and she....she... Fuck. She....
“You know, frisbees are traditionally caught with your hands, not your face.”
Mind locked back into place, at least partially, as Byakuya’s voice broke through her flood of thoughts, painfully aware of being the butt of the joke once more. She was tired. It hurt. It hurt, and it would still sting tomorrow even when the physical sensation was dealt with.
“U-Uuh....” Her eyes stung as she forced herself to open them, the bleary form of her classmate a foot in front of her. “Thanks,” She choked out, waiting for a moment. For the next jab, for the next friendly piece of advice. The laughter had stopped but she still buckled under the weight of it. She shouldn’t have gotten out of bed this morning. This was the punishment for it.
