Most popular one-shot:
Gosh, my most popular oneshot ever (i think, or just going by review count) would have to be “the wait” which is a httyd fic i wrote all the way back on FFN.net in 2013 (so jesus, almost seven years ago) about reincarnation and stuff. it’s still a oneshot people find and it really touches their hearts, so i’m glad it’s there even if i don’t think it’s hardly my best writing anymore.
two drabbles that surprisingly got a lot of notes was the one i wrote about runaan being de-coined, but post-s3 fever, i guess, and ezran contemplating viren’s death. the rayllum drabble that got the most notes was an idea i really liked, of callum going to zubeia on rayla’s behalf, so i’m quite pleased about all of them.
for actual TDP oneshots, the one that has the most hits is “i really do” which i wrote with the lovely and talented and amazing @spiritypowers as a s3 semi missing scenes and it was very fun and fluffy. solo tdp wise it’s probably “the most wonderful time of the year” which is a christmas themed rayllum oneshot and is of the things i had the most fun writing ever. i would still really love to do a followup.
basically the dragon prince is amazing and wonderfully supportive, the rayllum corner in particular.
Favorite story I wrote:
I don’t know if I can pick just one because I feel like all the multichaptered fics I’ve written have taught me different things (how to characterize, how to plot, how to get comfortable writing arguments which i love writing now lol, how to dig in deeper character wise, etc). The pirate AU I wrote almost five years ago for TLOK would have to go here because it was the first time I built an AU that the fandom just flat out embraced (and wrote fic for!) and I really loved writing that fic. It was also really important as my first dive into hardcore exploring mental health, abuse, and recovery in my work which are all prevalent themes in my original series, so. That fic will always be an incredibly special one to me.
I probably would have to put “the most wonderful time of the year here” just because it was so much fun to write, and “(if time is money then) i’ll spend it all for you” that @spiritypowers and I write just because we get to explore a lot of really emotional, really important things and journeys and it’s a very rewarding fic to write, both for its content and the response it’s gotten which is beyond anything I would’ve imagined. As well as other fics her and I have written over the years that have brought us continually closer to each other, particularly “in search of silver linings” <3
I also have an especially soft spot for a Claudia POV drabble-ish fic, “Autopsies” and a small Rayllum ficlet based on the prompt “participation medals.” What can I say? I love the angst.
Story I was nervous to post:
Honestly I was most nervous to publish “if time is money”. Not only because I was like “no one’s gonna wanna read like, 20k+ of Callum just bonding with Rayla’s parents and everyone figuring things out” — which is fine, I’m used to writing pretty niche things for most of my previous fandoms (on ao3 a oneshot I wrote is one of three, I think, under the “Khessa & Janai” sister tag) — but mostly because neither of us had never written Runaan before.
I’m not a stranger to his archetype before (the asshole-ish assassin who still isn’t morally bankrupt and does have a softer side). In fact I have two female characters I love in my original series who can easily be placed under that category, but I really wanted to get him right. He has to walk a delicate line of being both reason and unreasonable, sympathetic but still held accountable, etc. as he understandably grapples with things and is still very Runaan and closed off and struggling about it.
Around chapter five I started to feel more confident with him and I’m really looking forward to the next couple of chapters because there’s going to be a very good emotional epiphany and we are all going to cry.
How do I choose titles:
Either song lyrics or a metaphor I plan to work heavily in the story, either as a thread throughout or an epiphany. I also like to do double meanings as much as I can, or having a title or metaphor work on multiple levels. I recently realized I did one perfectly for the next book in my series and it was like all the stars aligned. I also really like taking snippets from poetry or lines from whatever work I’m writing for, ie. “turn against,” “i really do,” and “doesn’t deserve this,” were all parts of Callum’s lines. I’ll have to write a Rayla related one, one of these days.
Do you outline:
Yes!! It’s not always very detailed but I always make a list of things I want / ideas in some sort of order as best I can. Not all of them are detailed, though. The main reason is because I don’t want to forget anything, particularly because a lot of my multichap / fictional work easily reaches over 100k, which is a lot. With fanfiction I’m definitely more loosey-goosey with it, but before I start on a novel draft I always take at least one or two days to just write out a plot outline, chapter by chapter, with titles as much as I can, any specific lines I know I want, etc. So those tend to be more outlined.
That being said, I never proofread my work before I post. No beta reading we die like men.
Complete:
The pirate AU, another fic for the same nostalgic OTP, a few two-shots or three-shots over the years, all the oneshots. “In search of silver linings” <3 I also have at least three decent novel drafts under my belt, each over 86k+ (book two was 150k and I wanted to die, thank you).
In progress:
Sooo many old WIPs I’m never going back to, but there a couple of fics I want to back to and finish up. The sequel to the pirate AU. The voltron fix it fic I’m 148k+ deep into. “If time is money” and “looking for a way to break in” a very fun bodyguard Rayllum AU with lots of mutual pining. Book four of my series, currently sitting 3/4ths done at 115k+
Oh, and “21 days”. Some of drabbles (like 3x02) were written ahead of time, but plenty of others to shore up in between, y’know?

Sometimes, but not often. I do have a couple I need to finish up, though.

Oh gosh, I’m really excited for the rayllum fanzine, but honestly? Book five of my series. It’s been a long time coming. There’s dragons. Lots of lore. I’m very excited.

Oh my gosh so first of all, big fan of your work, thanks for being an awesome figure in the tag, second, i was just cooking a moment ago and had this thought. Who do you think the team cook is? Like because i figured it could be a flip between Rayla and Callum, like maybe Runaan taught Rayla cooking for survival, but then I thought what if Callum's mother taught him to cook? And like he prepares a treat out of what he can find for Rayla one day? (Feat lil waiter Ez, how cute.)

as for the team cook, i think callum and rayla are both probably passable. nothing fancy, but edible. i could actually see ezran being a bit more of a baker. because it’s not that he can’t cook some really amazing jelly tarts (even if reaching the ingredients in the top shelf is hard sometimes, but that’s where bait and his long reaching tongue comes in, right) it’s that if he makes them himself, then where’s the fun?
that being said, i think rayla probs ended up doing most of the cooking while the trio were travelling, mostly because she’s the one who actually knew how to forage and roast things on a spit / campfire

First Step to the Future: 2 chapters, 8k, complete. rayla and callum go to janai and amaya’s wedding and reflect on the past, present, and future. super sweet and has rayla call callum sunshine. put it on my gravestone.
Moonberries and Ghosts: 1+ chapters (out of 6), 3.9k, ongoing. a really promising start of rayla going back to the silvergrove for the first time with callum for her birthday. ethari is best dad.
Peace Is A Journey by @tenspontaneite: 13+ chapters, 176.9k, ongoing. canon divergence of s1 that boils down to katolis and the continent being much larger than it was in canon, and therefore takes a lot more time to cross. fantastic characterization, spellbinding worldbuilding, and probs my fave ongoing tdp fic rn. great trio and rayllum dynamic. manages to make reading about putting up a tent interesting. hear that? it’s me screaming about this fic. please read it.
Return to Katolis: 7+ chapters, 23.5k, ongoing. callum and rayla are back in katolis for the first time since the end of the war. ezran pov and shenanigans ensue. super sweet and great trio dynamic and rayllum fluff
Sides of the Moon by @kuno-chan: 21+ chapters, 105.9k, ongoing. you all knew this had to be here. lots of great worldbuilding, elven assassins, slowburn rayllum build, and chilling villains. i am both scared and delighted every time it updates.

And If You’re Gone Tomorrow (What Was Ours Still Will Be): 22.5k, modern high school au. rayla is an exchange student who befriends callum. the slow build of their friendship/relationship, how all the characters are woven into it, the characterization itself. 100% one of my favourite oneshots ever, and in my top five rayllum fics easy.
Always There to Catch You: post s3, 4.3k. rayla has a nightmare about the fall, because callum comforting her in any way caters specifically to me, obviously.
butterflies: 5.6k, edging into more decidedly t+ territory here and there. rayllum’s relationship progression over the years through kisses.
fever dreams: 1.3k, rayla gets sick and callum takes care of her.
growing pains: 2k, rayla experiences some growing pains with her horns. callum is curious and comforting as always.
honey, you’re familiar by @mimosaeyes: 2.6k, very sweet with some nice worldbuilding thrown in there, as callum helps rayla draw new moonshadow markings on.
if she calls you an idiot, you’re a lucky man: 2.6k, cute first kiss rayllum fluff.

Warmth by @deetheteadrinkingdragon: 4.1k, featuring cuddling at the storm spire just after s3, with janaya and rayllum. very sweet and fluffy and will leave you feeling as warm as the title indicates.
