Deke Meets a younger Fitz

I’m not super active in the Agents of Shield/FitzSimmons fandom, but I follow some awesome AoS fandom creators and after seeing this question asked to the fandom mom in this post, I couldn’t help but come up with a headcanon that I doubt will happen but so desperately want.

The team travels back in time/forward in time to when FitzSimmons are at the academy. Mack sends Deke on a mission which causes Deke to run into an even younger Fitz.

Deke leaves the bus and runs into Fitz before Fitz and Jemma are even friends. Deke uses a cover that he is visiting the academy to see if he wants to teach there since he is an expert in certain alien tech or maybe lies that he is a guest speaker in a class that Fitz and Simmons aren’t in. They start talking and Fitz mentions that he hates the academy because it is so lonely, which surprises Deke because he knows his grandparents are inseparable but he quickly realizes that they must not have become friends yet so Deke prompts Fitz that there must be someone that Fitz can relate to/interested in. Fitz blushes as he admits there is a girl in one of his classes, but he doesn’t know how to talk to her because she is so beautiful and brilliant.

Fitz: I can’t just say anything to her (a simple hi won’t cut it), it has to be something clever.

Deke: I’m sure you’ll come up with the perfect thing to say and have each other in your lives for a long, long time.

Suddenly Deke remembers that he still has to complete a mission and runs off, leaving Fitz confused as he contemplates the perfect thing to say to Simmons.

I was thinking about turning this into a fic, but I don’t know if I will have time so if anyone wants to work with this prompt, I would love to see this version or their own version of Deke possibly running into Fitz and Simmons at the academy.

In which: Philinda have the moves, Mackelena has a weird way of flirting, Daisy needs to pick a love interest, RIP Deke (he gets a gold lemon for effort), Huntingbird needs to get it together, and somehow SOME. HOW. Fitzsimmons managed to make it further than anyone else on this list. And of course, everyone on this list has a really weird standard for normal.
