Summary:
The best priest exorcist, Father Castiel Novak is authorized to free action for a dangerous mission: to find and send back to Hell the powerful Prince of Hell, Azazel.
No one can get in his way, no one but maybe one insightful tall hunter and his stubborn and flirty big brother.
Will Castiel be able to fulfill his mission while trying not to succumb to this new unexplored sensations Dean Winchester makes him feel for the first time?
reasons an apparent lack of demisexual!cas in my upcoming fic Duck Duck Boots is a valid complaint:
that’s what it looks like in the summary
but you underestimate the following things:
me knowing what i’m doing (wink wink nudge nudge???)
me wanting to change up the things i Always Write Every Time
me desperately wanting to try writing non-demi cas since literally frickin’ Try-Something Tuesday which i wrote in 2013 and being all but incapable despite my occasional efforts because At His Core, Cas Does Not Want To Do That
(but also like... me having every right to not write characterisations that agree with everyone??? in general, i mean, not you specifically)
reasons cas has sex the day he meets dean:
nOPE CAN’T SAY it’s spoilers
but suffice to say it’s because of CHARACTER CONFLICT and done on purpose
like............. that’s.......... what the story’s about..............
i’m not saying it’s good or correct or in-character that cas would sleep with someone right after meeting them, but first off, au cas is different to canon cas (as he should be, otherwise he’d go around stabbing people with angel blades when he’s meant to be raising ducklings), and second, the fact it’s an unlikely/impossible choice for him is Literally The Point™
anyway i just wanted to give an explanation and a reassurance in case your interpretation was bumming you out
there’s always a chance what i wrote might not agree with you anyway, but... y’know, that’s gonna happen sometimes. there’ll be plenty of other demi!Cas stories <3 (in fact just 2 days ago i finished writing a 35k demi!cas fic for Pinefest... which won’t be posted until ~February 2019) c:

here’s all my Destiel fics tagged with demisexual or demiromantic!Cas (there’s almost certainly more in my other works, but those were the ones i specifically tagged)

Summary:
Anosmia (/ænˈɒzmiə/) is the inability to perceive odor or a lack of functioning olfaction.
After an accident when he was young, Castiel was left without a sense of smell. So much of society is based on pheromones and olfactory cues that his anosmia makes things rather awkward since the alpha can’t sniff out a situation. As it would turn out, things are a lot more awkward than he could have even imagined pertaining to his coworker, Dean Winchester.

Castiel wasn’t sure what to think of his coworker, Dean. He was brash and loud and all-together awfully demanding. Dean usually had a large group of people around him, though he never looked entirely comfortable at the epicenter of attention.
Shaking his head of the thought, he clicked to print out the dual report that they both needed to sign as co-supervisors of the division and headed over to Dean’s office, the long way around. The office wasn’t that far from Cas’ own office, across the hall, but both of their offices were forever away from the copy/print machine for the floor.
Most of the others who had been in those offices in the past would send someone, like their secretary, to grab the things that were printed. Cas didn’t like using his subordinates in that way; his secretary was too nice and amazing for that.
“Don’t forget about your 3 o’clock meeting today, sir.”
As Cas passed Hannah’s desk he smiled and thanked her, “Could you page me or text me at 2:30 to make sure I remember?”
She grinned in return. “Of course. We all know that you’re not always the most punctual.”
“Thank you, Hannah.” He turned and nodded to Dean’s secretary at the desk across from his own. “You too, Gadreel; keep up the good work.”
Gadreel was typing away at the computer and offered the automatic response of “Yes, sir”.
They really were amazing workers.
He knocked on Dean’s door. “Come in.”
When Cas entered the room, all of the occupants were looking at him. It was eerie. Gordon, Cain, Alastair from the bottom floor, and Zachariah from Corporate were all crowded into the small space.
Dean cleared his throat. “Mr. Novak and I probably have a lot to talk about for the new radio campaign that we’re planning, so if everyone could clear the room…” Dean didn’t move to shoo them, though. He was pulled in onto himself, like he was trying to be as small as he could be, perhaps invisible.
No one moved.
Cas wasn’t sure what was going on. All he knew was that Dean looked extremely uncomfortable. He didn’t necessarily want to play bad cop, but he needed to get the men out of the room. Dean was looking paler by the second. “I’m sorry, but Dean and I have to discuss some things.” He looked around at the men.
When they didn’t move again, he growled. “Get out.”
Gordon turn and growled back, “We were here first.”
“I don’t care who was here first.” These bigots always seemed to think that they were the priority. Cas really didn’t like working with them and often avoided it at all costs. “You are in a corporate building and it is regular working hours; I am your boss. Get out.” He still didn’t use his alpha voice.
Hi! I'm such a huge fan of your Destiel fics, especially your Ace/Demi Cas ones. I was wondering if you were planning on writing more of those?
planning to? oh hell yes. rest assured, nearly every Dean/Cas fic I ever post is gonna include a hint (or a LOT) of ace-spectrum/demisexual!Cas. the only time I think I ever wrote him full gay was in Try-Something Tuesday. I’m pretty sure everything else has featured Cas being somewhere on the asexual spectrum, though I can’t say it’s always discussed in-depth.
I have a bunch of fics (as of yet unposted) in which I explore the idea of demisexuality more than I have before. one is a Harry Potter/SPN crossover fic (Team Free Will + Charlie are teachers at a wizarding school), and that’s called How to Charm the Wizard of Your Dreams, and that should be posted within the next few weeks/one month or so. the other one (I say ‘other one’ but there’s like 5 so I’m picking one) is my DCBB, which should be posted November 27th this year, and it’s a masseur!Cas fic called Held In Your Tender Hands. and then there’s the sci-fi fic called Last Voyage of the Carnaval Celeste which will probably be posted December 2015/January 2016, who knows. but THERE WILL BE MORE. LOTS MORE.
and this buttload of unposted fics are basically the reason I haven’t replied to many messages or been online much recently, because I’ve been WRITING ALL THE TIME. or sleeping. because writing is exhausting. (and replying to messages is also exhausting, go figure)
thank you very much for asking. I really enjoy writing asexual!Cas so knowing it’s appreciate makes me all YAAAAYyyy!!!

if anyone’s scrolling past and is looking for demisexual!Cas fics of mine, I picked a handful of AUs from my far larger selection. tbh my non-AU stories are also pretty much demi!Cas but the AUs tend to cover more of the relationship development.
Take You To The Country - 1950s AU where Cas proposes to Dean in the newspaper
Hello Night - priest!Cas/demon!Dean porn with flashbacks (~historical AU)
Of Shampoo and Fruit Flies - autistic!Cas and roommate!Dean
Nine Times We Met (And One Christmas We Parted) - historical AU with teacher!Cas and firefighter!Dean and tons of buildup. oh god this will probably break and mend and re-break your heart I’m emotional just thinking about it
Drop Anchor - sailor!Dean and pirate!Cas trapped on an island
Preacher Comfort - asexual priest!Cas and sexually confused nurse!Dean
Sharing the Rain Dog - AU where Dean and Cas have shared custody over a dog
We’re the New Romantics - high school AU with aromantic punk!Cas
The Tailor of Fairy Ridge - fairy!Dean and tailor!Cas, pre-slash or vaguely romantic friendship??
Our Garden Home - disgustingly cute WIP with flower fairy!Dean and bat fairy!Cas
Totally! I’m open to any sexuality for them both, I feel like both of those work.
The only reason I am so partial to asexual!cas is because a lot asexual people in the fandom really like to see Cas as asexual and since it’s really hard to find asexual representation, I think it’s awesome they can find themselves in Cas!
But I totally think he could be demisexual too, or anywhere along the ace spectrum honestly. :)
For the lovely bluetiesandflannelshirts!!! A dumb something inspired by her high school AU ♥
Cas’s leg jiggles as he sits in the waiting room chair.
For the fifth time since they arrived at the doctor’s office, Dean takes one of his hands off the magazine and lays it on Cas’s thigh until he settles, not once taking his eyes off the article ‘What Your Bedroom Wall Colour Says About You’. Cas restlessly fiddles with his shirt sleeve, coughs, and Dean follows the glossy paper with his finger to line up his room colour with his answer. Apparently, his blue walls mean home is his tranquil place. He thinks it’s probably more to do with the fact he’d decided to repaint when he’d met Cas, because damn did that colour get stuck in his head.
When his leg starts bouncing again, making all the chairs around him quiver slightly, Dean slides his hand into Cas’s warm palm and laces their fingers together.
“Cas,” Dean says softly, leaning over slightly as he gets to the end of his page, “calm down.”
“How am I supposed to be calm, Dean- this is all very unnerving and I barely understand why I’m here in the first place, I’ve just got a few mild symptoms, I’m fine, honestly I don’t know how you even persuaded me to-“
“Cas-“
“-something to do with the cuddles and hot chocolate you promised for later, and maybe because we’re going past the pet shop on the way home so I can look at-“
“Cas, you’re rambling.” Dean squeezes his hand as he quiets down, and turns his head to plant a gentle kiss on the other teen’s blushing cheek.
Cas mutters something about bribery and ‘idiot Winchesters’ under his breath, and Dean just smirks.
“Castiel Novak?” A woman in the door calls, scanning the waiting room.
Cas stands quickly to his feet, breathes out nervously, and Dean gives him a little wink as he walks past. Cas smiles back at him, his face lit up like sunshine.
~*~
Ten minutes later, Cas comes through the door alone.
When Dean looks up, the pictures of pretty cushions and duvet covers hidden (not slyly) behind the car magazine are forgotten instantly. Cas’s blue eyes are filled with tears, a pamphlet crushed in his tense grip as he stumbles shakily towards Dean, barely able to get one foot in front of the other. His other hand comes to press against his mouth to staunch his sobs, and Dean wants to move closer to him but he’s frozen in place.
Words start flashing through Dean’s head, as if read by a judge determining Cas’s fate. Tumour, cancer, heart defect, AIDS, five years to live, six months to live, one month to live…
“Cas-“ Dean’s faint voice cuts off, and his magazine falls to the floor without him noticing. “Wh-what’s wrong?”
Oh God, he’s dying, this is it, I didn’t get him here fast enough, I should’ve spotted the symptoms earlier-
Cas is scarily blank-faced, gasping in breaths too frantically to respond, and he lifts his shaking hand to wipe at his soaking cheeks. Dean can feel tears gathering in his own eyes, but snaps his head down to look at the crinkled paper being pushed towards him.
It’s open on a diagram explaining The Asexuality Spectrum. Dean skim reads over all of it, his vision blurring. When he lifts his head again, Cas’s expression breaks out into a smile Dean can only describe as blissfully relieved, and endlessly joyous. It looks like the whole freakin’ sky just opened up wide and boundless for him, and Dean points at the word ‘demisexual’, to which Cas just nods gently at. He looks so beautiful, cheeks flushed and eyes sparkling with delight.
“I’m not-“ Cas’s voice is so small, so breathy. “I’m not broken, Dean, it’s- it’s m-me, I’m normal, I’m…”
Dean stands up dizzyingly fast, breaks into a grin so enormous his skin aches with it, but he can’t stop, and Cas lets out a little laugh; one of the happiest Dean’s ever heard from him.
“There was never anything wrong with you, angel,” Dean soothes, lifting his hand and stroking away the tears under Cas’s relieved eyes. “I told you there wasn’t. You’re perfect the way you are.”
Cas laughs again, and throws his arms around Dean’s neck. They hug for so long they lose count of time, until Cas’s sobs have abated and Dean’s smiling into the hot curve of his neck without the slightest hint of shame. Neither care that they’re still in the middle of the waiting room.
They walk outside with their arms wrapped around each other’s waists, beaming like it’s the Fourth of July despite the white clouds of breath that billow in front of their faces. When they’re in the car, Dean leans across and captures Cas’s pink, nerve-bitten lips in a soft kiss, and feels his boyfriend grin against him. When they break apart, they stare into each other’s eyes for a long time, barely inches apart.
Dean realises-
“Wait, Cas,” he says, eyebrows furrowing, “what’s actually wrong then?”
Cas reaches into his pocket, pulls out a bottle of pills and tosses it to his boyfriend.
Dean reads the label.
“Are you kidding me?”
Cas laughs- loudly- then breaks down in coughs.
Dean spends the next week looking after his flu-addled boyfriend, and promptly finds himself being fussed-over by his guardian angel the week after that, when he finds himself in exactly the same predicament.
