#demisexuals exist

I actually wanted to make this post a while ago, but a while ago I wasn't making any posts, and I just remembered it now, so here we go:

Do you know the anime one piece? I can only assume that if you know what the word anime means you know what one piece is because it has been one of the bigger fandoms since a very long time ago? I don't really know how to say what I want to say but I think I made what I want to say clear?

Anyway, the main character, Luffy, is the love interest of Boa Hancock, the most beautiful woman in the world, who also possesses the power to make anyone who falls in love with her Turn to Stone (together with the fact that everyone just falls in love with her because she is so beautiful), but then she meets Luffy, and he doesn't fall in love with her, so when she tries to turn him to Stone it just doesn't work, which made some people say "oh he's asexual", which made other people say " no he's not, here's a picture of him seeing Nami's ( another character in the series for those who don't know) top half naked and obviously being aroused by it"

So, that made me think "oh, he's demisexual" because demisexuals are only attracted to people who they already made emotional connections to, and Nami, by the point in the series he saw her half top naked, has already made an emotional connection with him, unlike Hancock, who he only met a few hours before then and did not make an emotional connection with yet.

Anyway that's my opinion and my idea about how that works, what's yours?

If I see one more post about Ace-spec communities calling them "A safe space for ace and aro people" or people saying that "Ace-spec means that you are either ace or aro," I am going to break into all of your houses and carve the words "Demisexuals are real and fucking valid" into every available surface in your home.

So, I’ve seen a few posts circling on the general subject of disliking the “trope” of a (usually female) character in a book saying that they’ve never gotten crushes on people until they meet one special character with which they fall in love.

The creators of these posts usually take a critical stance and say that they were happy with the possibility of a character being gay, but were disappointed when the book turned “so hetero”.

I would just like to point out that 

 just :) because :) someone :)  is :) in :) an opposite-sex :) relationship :) doesn’t :) mean :) that :) they :) are :) straight, 

and the “trope” being described sounds like a text-book definition of demisexuality.

I am a demisexual/romantic. I fall for my friends and am never able to stop feeling for them. Any advice?

Just keep the boundaries. Give them a space you’re both comfortable with. Try to convert these feelings to platonic feelings to help you move forward. You’ll always feel close to them but hopefully with time you won’t have as many strong romantic feelings with them.

Hey so I'm demisexual and idk if I'm allowed to come out? Like all I really hear about is homosexual/transgender people coming out, so I feel like I don't have the right to? I mean I don't know if I need to come out like if it's really that big of a deal in my life like being gay or trans is.

It’s totally okay to come out. Coming out is all about telling others about your sexuality so it’s okay for every one to come out if they want to. It’s your choice. If you don’t want to then you don’t have to. Completely up to you. But you can if you want - no one will stop you ;)

How did you know you were demi? I only found out through a traumatic experience, and I was thinking that it matches have affected my sexuality

My boyfriend came out to me that he was bi and it triggered a curiosity within myself to find out who I was - since I never felt blatantly pansexual. I looked a bit on asexuality and the different types and found demisexuality which really struck out with me.

Now here I am, running my own blog and helping people like you :)

Finally came to terms with my identity as a heteroromantic demiexual, and just ADORE the community! But I do have one question: as much as I love our Pride Flag, I seem to be lost as to the color/shapes' meanings. Do you know/have a theory?

Well Demisexuality is part of the asexual spectrum right? Right. So we share the same colours as the ace’s which are:

Grey

Purple

White

Black

Usually the asexual flag is just straight lines but for demisexuals the black line becomes a triangle which intersects the middle of the purple line (middle). I like to think this represents the way demisexuality is inbetween the ‘norm’ of general sexualities and asexuality as we can experience sexual attraction but not always/ not until we reach a strong emotional connection.
