The High Priestess: Andrastian or nah? Loyal to the Chantry, content to forge their own beliefs, or wishing the entire concept of the Maker would just fuck off already?

Esha starts out a good little Andrastian, going along to the barracks Chantry every week. But the Tevinter Chantry preaches about the Maker's love out of one side of their mouth, and spews propaganda about how Tevinter's the Maker's enemies need to be put to the sword with the other.

The whole concept of slavery is reified as part of the Maker's plan for elves - they can't be trusted to look after themselves. And the whole thing smells like bullshit to Esha, but she still ends up working her fingers to the bone trying to 'earn' her status as a free woman, so more of it sinks in than I think she'd be willing to admit.

So, not Andrastian. And the Tevinter Old Gods are out for obvious reasons. She spends a long time romanticising the Dalish pantheon, soaking up whatever knowledge she can from Reva and the other former Dalish elves she meets. But then she grows up and meets the Evanuris and not only are they all basically just ancient magisters, they want her dead personally.

That kind of kills off the last bit of her that wanted to seek answers in something bigger. The only thing she can rely on in this world are her fellow mortals. And you know what? She's okay with that.

i wanna know about your DA WIP!

hhhhh thank you for letting me talk about it <333 i love brecken and this is kind of a defining moment for him

so, long story short, brecken (my canon inquisitor) loses confidence in himself and his opinions and stances on things as inquisition goes on. for the better i’d say. his eyes get opened a lot and - without realizing it, really - the opinions and thoughts of others end up becoming a large part of how he handles his own decisions

the wip i have titled post mythal’s sanctum came about after all the stuff with the well of sorrows and how everything goes down in the arbor wilds. i noticed while i was playing that a lot of brecken’s most trusted advisors and friends (i.e. cassandra, vivienne, and, most importantly, iron bull) were disapproving of his decisions

TL;DR this fic is me exploring brecken at his breaking point and the conversation with bull that follows. it’s a little shippy but i’d like to eventually be able to not focus on that and really look at how brecken’s surety in himself and his ability to lead breaks down

it’s kind of a back-burner fic because it’s very much For Me, but i’m still fond of the idea, and i think about it sometimes when i need some comfort

really, though, i’ve already started thinking about something! a little character study, with a bit of rk1000 thrown in. admittedly, last time i did that, i ended up with a 6k first kiss fic, but i’ll keep this one under control. probably. hopefully.
