being vs doing
today i had therapy and because it’s the holidays my therapist left me with the thought of being vs doing
she listened to everything i had to say about what i want to achieve these holidays and this year and listened to all the things i’d done to take time for myself but she wanted to break it down even further
DOING is for crushing holiday goals, doing assignments, appointments and shopping, going out with friends, doing exercise, all those things that take a little more energy than usual
BEING is for things like watching tv or youtube, reading, writing, taking a nap, the things that the holidays are typically for that you could be considered lazy for doing during the term
a long time ago i accepted that low-energy, emotionally fulfilling tasks like listening to music and reading are necessary things for me and my mental health but she encouraged me to actively notice and enjoy those moments and to reflect on them
trying to be in the moment of BEING will help ease the anxiety and guilt over not DOING something and will also help holidays feel like they’re not slipping by so fast
aim to analyse your being vs doing these holidays and remind yourself to actively partake in a little more being during this time of rest 🦕🌟🍃🥂✨

When I’m feeling particularly shit I will search “five minute guided meditation” on YouTube and get into lotus position and do the meditation with them. Not only does it get me sitting up instead of lying down, but it often helps me recenter my thoughts enough to at least get out of bed and eat and shower. It’s just that five minute brain distraction that kinda helps me reboot a lil.
I’m in the middle of customising one of my leather jackets and holy shit I forgot how much I love doing craft shit
Remembering to do shit you love is so important and can make you so happy. Even if you feel shit and don’t think you want to just try, it might cheer you up and you might create something you love
I love putting on makeup even if I'm not going anywhere it just makes me feel nice

I'm vegetarian & eat out fairly frequently, so I know quite a bit about vegetarian/vegan options at fast food places! I'm not sure if this is true for the fast food places in your area, since the McDonald's in my area have never had vegan burgers, but Burger King has fantastic Impossible Whoppers & they currently have a special for them where they're only 2 for $6, so you could potentially get yourself 2 meals for the price of one! I'm not sure if their buns are vegan though, but you can get the Whoppers without cheese. If not, Carl's Jr. has Beyond burgers that you can get as a lettuce wrap, so those should be vegan. They're probably a bit more pricey than BK, but it's always good to treat yourself, especially when you're feeling down.
Anyways, sorry to fill your ask box with this nonsense, but I just wanted to help you feel better & potentially find a good meal. I've been in plenty of depressive episodes where I can't be bothered to cook shit, so the BK Impossible Whoppers have been a lifesaver for me. i ended up cooking a little something yesterday evening after all. and i canceled the appointment i would have had today and finally went to the grocery store and stacked up on some instant soups and stuff like that.

Depression tip, if showering is overwhelming try a sponge bath. Just the fact that you’re cleaner will help a ton.
