“How can someone of your size bleed this much?”

Derek had taken up running to try and offset the missing cardio from his life that was once filled by dance. He still refused to even acknowledge anything his dad said regarding Julliard but a small part of him could admit that he’d been thinking about dancing a lot more than he had been when his mom first died. Running into Nicolette may have had a small part of it, but reminiscing about the dances they had and events they’d been through in high school kept plaguing his mind more frequently. He shook his head away from that thought and began a faster run as he passed through the busy streets around the college town. He turned a corner and slammed right into someone. His arms came out to try and cushion the fall of the person before him as they both ended up pressed into a brick wall “Ugh” he grunted out, trying to catch his breath. Derek looked toward the person he’d run into and was shocked to see Nicolette there, cradling what looked to be a cut on her elbow from the impact of their run in. He’d never seen her around the college town before, mostly because he wasn’t looking early on but also since she was in high school still. He looked her over, before realizing her arm was bleeding, badly. “How can someone of your size bleed this much?” he spoke finally, asking the awkward question, before shaking his head and trying again, “What I meant to say was are you ok? It looks like your arm is bleeding a lot.” He quickly pulled his sweat soaked shirt off to wrap it around her arm, “We should clean this up” he stated, “I have a first aid kit in my apartment right across the road, follow me.”
