Descendants Secret Santa🎅
My giftee for @descendantsgiftexchange is the one and only @telli1206 ❤ And, boy, was I nervous when I found out I had to write something for the Telli. You're amazing, I really hope you enjoy my Jaylos christmas-themed one shot.
I'm not that good at keeping it to fluff without ending up with angst as well, but I did my best and I think I mostly managed? Oh, and I also made you a moodboard. Happy holidays! ❤🥰
Title: All I want for christmas is you

Summary: A few moments of Jay and Carlos' first christmas in Auradon.
"Hey, baby, look what I got us!" Carlos said, entering their room with an excited smile on his face and a red shopping bag on his arm.
Before Jay could even say anything, he put the bag on top of his bed and pulled two articles of clothing from it.
They were... something else.
"Are those... sweaters?" Jay asked, raising an eyebrow. He didn't know what else to say. Those things were downright awful. And Jay is not even one to pay attention to that.
From the way Carlos spoke and the fact that the sweaters seemed about their respective sizes, he assumed they were supposed to wear one each. But why on earth would Carlos, who was one hundred times more fashionable than Jay and actually seemed to care about these stuff, want to wear this monstrosity?
It made no sense. Maybe it was just Jay who had no taste? No, no, he's pretty sure those things were ugly no matter who's the judge of that. Sure, they were funny, but objectively atrocious. Again, not that he was an expert in any way, but still.
It was probably a christmas thing, he guessed. Of course, they had no such thing back on the Isle, but from what he's seen and heard from the Auradon kids, the items matched the christmas colors and patterns.
Both had the same elaborated schemes of multiple patterns and too much glitter and other sparkly stuff Jay had no idea what to call. The differences were that the smaller one was green and read 'I'm on the nice list' while the bigger one was red and read 'I'm on the naughty list'.
The font used was also terrible, but the words did make him snort. He recognized that this was about the whole santa thing Ben had explained to them. The magic man that parents lied to their children about or something like that.
Of course, the Isle kids had always known that christmas existed. As a religious holiday and all that. Shit, like Jay could forget about that living only a few streets away from Frollo. That guy was a really pain in everyone asses during december, even more than usual.
But it was in Auradon that he found out that people could celebrate just for fun. Just to eat a lot of food, exchange presents and put on shining decorations in their yards.
No one told him people wore something this bizarre during christmas, but whatever. If Carlos wanted them to match he would gladly wear it, even if a sparkling christmas sweater didn't match his usual style. Or anyone's, for that matter.
He just hopes his boyfriend isn't expecting him to find the clothes pretty, though... he's a terrible liar when it comes to Carlos.
"Yes! They're ugly sweaters!" Okay. So that probably wouldn't be a problem then. "Apparently that's a thing here in Auradon. Get the most horrible of these holiday themed stuff and match with a loved one. I thought we could do that too."
Jay let out a little laugh at that. Carlos was just so adorable when he got excited, especially over small things like these. He was so fucking in love with him.
"Well, these sure are ugly, babe." He... complimented? "Are you planning on wearing that to Ben's party on christmas' eve?"
For once it was actually a party Ben was throwing for his friends and not some big, fancy royal thing. He insisted they'd find out more about the 'spirit of christmas' or whatever if they attended.
"Yeah, I thought we could match." He explained, but as soon as the words left his lips, a spike of worry flashed through his eyes. "But... we don't have to. I know they're not really what we're used to wearing and I should have asked you before buyi-"
"Non-sense, baby. Of course I want to match with you." He said, patting his own thighs as a way to ask Carlos to sit on his lap. He did immediately, of course. "I mean, if wearing ugly clothes on christmas is a big thing around here, then we'll surely win with those things." Jay wrapped an arm around the smaller boy's waist.
Carlos rolled his eyes fondly.
"It's not a competition." He reminded him. "It's just a thing people do for fun."
"Alright, then we're gonna be the worst dressed couple there. In a fun way, not in a competitive way." He added, leaving a soft kiss on his boyfriend's cheek.
Carlos couldn't help but smile. Those small, sweet touches are just so meaningful to him. Coming from a place where soft touches were frowned upon, it was comforting to know Jay and him could always count on each other for that.
"You sure you don't think it's silly?" He needed to make sure, a little shy about this whole situation. It had been a little impulsive to just buy them instead of calling Jay first.
"Nothing's ever silly if it's important for you." He assured, not missing a beat. It made Carlos' heart swell inside his chest.
"Alright, then. Let's see if they fit." Carlos proposed, getting up from his spot on his boyfriend's lap, much to his dismay.
Of course they would, Carlos had a good eye for things like that and it wasn't like sweaters had to be perfect fitted either, but Jay decided to humor him and try it on anyway.
He ended up laughing as soon as he saw his reflection on the mirror. God, he looked so ridiculous with that thing. He's sure Mal and Evie would fall out from their seats in laughter as soon as they showed up. At least red wasn't that far away from his usual colors.
He turned to Carlos, who seemed like he was as amused as Jay himself, and couldn't find it in him to think the smaller boy looked ridiculous as well. He just looked... adorable, but in a silly way?
"You're cute." Jay said, Carlos promptly raising an eyebrow at him.
"Even wearing the world's most ridiculous piece of clothing ever?" He asked, fighting back a giggle.
"Nah, that would be mine." Jay half-joked. He wasn't sure if his was worse or if Carlos just looked good in anything. "But seriously, babe. There's nothing you could wear that wouldn't make me drool over you."
Carlos just had to roll his eyes at that, but Jay knew he secretly love when he talked like this.
"You're such a sap, did you know that?" He teased, already taking off the sweater. It wasn't cold inside their dorm anyway.
As Carlos got both sweaters back inside the bag, Jay just stood there looking at him. Even doing the simple task of folding clothes, he looked lovely.
A thought popped up on his mind, even sappier than what he had previously said, so he just knew he had to share.
"You know, I don't think I'm on Santa's naughty list." He started. Carlos turned to him with a confused frown.
"Really? I have several occasions really fresh in my mind where you proved you totally would be on the naughty list." He teased, half-heartedly only. Not like Carlos himself isn't a little wicked either.
Jay chuckled. Yeah, that was certainly true.
"You may have a point... but then how do you explain the fact that Santa actually got me a gift like two christmas ago?" He asked. "And exactly what I wanted, too."
Carlos was clearly not following, tilting his head a little in confusion. Again, he looked absolutely adorable.
"Alright, maybe it wasn't on christmas, but two days after it's still close enough, right?" He admitted. "The guy probably lost lots of time trying to pass through the barrier."
He saw it in his eyes the moment Carlos fully understood what he was talking about.
"Oh my God, I can't believe you said that. That wasn't even smooth, Jay!" He complained, making the other boy laugh. Carlos still pecked his lips sweetly though. "I love you so much, you cheesy sap."
Their first kiss was two years ago on december 27th. Jay thinks it's close enough to be considered a christmas gift.
They don't really celebrate the date, since it took them two weeks to sort their shit out and admit exactly what that kiss meant to them. So, that wasn't the date of their anniversary, but it was still one they'd both remember fondly for the rest of their lives.
Jay remembers how surprised he was that Carlos was the one to take that last step and finally join their lips. He remembers what the other boy was wearing, what he smelled like. What he tasted like. The slight panic in his eyes when he realized what he had just done. The way he turned and ran away before Jay could even process what happened or what he should say.
Thankfully, everything is sorted out now. They felt the same way about each other and were now on their way to complete two years together.
"I love you too." Jay closed the distance between them once again, with a deeper kiss this time.
The week passed flying, and soon it was christmas eve.
Jay might have thought this 'christmas spirit' thing sounded dumb when Ben tried to explained it to him, but he kind of gets it now. There was something different in the air that night.
The decorations were beautiful, the christmas tree inside the castle was just as majestic as everything else in the room. The sparkly lights everywhere added a little magic to the occasion, in their own way.
The food was also delicious, and it looked as good as it tasted. Neither Jay nor Carlos had ever eaten a gingerbread cookie before and it tasted so good. It tasted like christmas. Oh, and there was also this sweet drink with marshmallows on it... Jay wouldn't mind if it was christmas everyday.
And what was even better was how happy everyone seemed, how everyone was getting along for once. He knew it didn't always happen, especially when you mixed aks and vks. But nothing seemed to matter. He wondered if that actually had to do with christmas or if it was just a sign that they were all maturing. They were all growing up.
"You got really into this ugly sweater thing, huh?" Mal teased, showing up out of nowhere and startling Jay a little.
He smiled.
"Yeah, Carlos thought it would be fun." He turned to look at Carlos, who was on the other side of the room, close to the christmas tree, laughing over something Evie said. He looked as happy as Jay felt.
"Oh, it's definitely funny." She said, making the boy roll his eyes. "But it's cute too. You know, you two making your own christmas traditions now that we get to have all this." After all, back on the Isle, they could only dream of something like what they were experiencing that night.
Jay smiled. He didn't even realize that this is what they were doing. But it was. Next year they might find even uglier sweaters, they might actually decorate their dorm room, they might try to bake their own gingerbread men. So many possibilities and he wanted to try them all...
"Yeah... we really are." He answered simply, not even trying to hide how giddy the thought made him.
Mal didn't even have it in her to tease him about it.
"I think next year we should also put trees in our dorms." She said instead. "I mean, one like this would never fit, but like... smaller ones? Maybe fake ones?"
Yeah, it would be nice. He thinks Carlos would like to decorate the tree with him. They could even buy decorations in their color schemes, give a little VK touch to it.
"We totally should." He answered, alright excited with the idea, even if they would need to wait a whole year. "Ours will much cooler than yours, of course." He couldn't help but tease her.
Mal snorted.
"In your dreams, sure." She teased right back. But soon her eyes became soft, and a small smile appeared on her lips. "Here's to spending christmas with the people we love."
She raised her cup of eggnog, and Jay did the same with his cup of hot chocolate, the two making a toast.
"Here's to spending everyday with the people we love." He added, adverting his eyes to the opposite side of the room.
Where his very own christmas present was admiring the sparkling lights in the christmas tree. Jay, of course, admired him.
I hope I did you some justice😅 Again, happy holidays for you and for everyone involved with the gift exchange! 🎅❤
