First of all, I'd like to show you my self-study but practicing design sheet of Eliot Hotchhive (my Star Heart/CB next-gen OC, if you just knew what I meant) and, ofc, Marie (his most honest girlfriend/wife) in particular, as I began to wonder if they always looked like they were portrayed in Tim Burton’s totally original style via his illustrations and concepts for his movies/series/others that it constantly inspired me.

And plus, in relation to the appearance of Eliot, which I quite appropriately drew him in a painstaking way for inspiration from the original concept art of Finis Everglot (exclusively with Maudeline, his wife) from Corpse Bride. Cuz, it's just in case that his Tim Burton style looks kinda different than his original, that it seemed more like Carlos Grangel's style than Tim Burton's, so sorry abt that, TB fans. And as for Marie, she’s kindly seemed to me to remind her in most of Burton's illustrations/concepts (such as Emily, Sally and more female characters as I tried to clearly remember), as I cleverly assume.

And anyway, I hope you like it so much atm.

The Spruce Goose.  The largest flying boat ever designed, built, and flown.  Well, flown for all of about a mile at an altitude of 70ish feet before being retired, probably more famous for its Howard Hughes origin than its impact in aviation.  But the thing had to be built somewhere, and its large hanger was equally impressive in its size.  With the plane gone, though, what to make of all that space?  For a time it was used as an epic soundstage (both Titanic and Avatar were filmed there) but it has recently been converted into offices.

From the outside, it looks pretty much like a hangar, albeit with some added and angular windows to break apart the corners.  Architecture is about the inside though (space is where it happens!), and that’s where things get interesting here.  A wonderful example of adaptive reuse, the project inserts a whole separate ‘building’ within the functioning and restored hangar structure. And while these new bits inside are decent enough, it’s their interplay with the beauty and grandeur of the exquisite nature of the bent-wood structure that really makes the project cool.  Balconies, sinuous walkways, intricate boardwalks, overlooks, and plenty of glass all create a 3D kaleidoscope that offers views throughout the various levels and functions while also highlighting the hangar itself.

And I just love this piece of hanging art, re-creating the outline of the Spruce Goose!

Of course, there’s some absurdness at play here for such a large set of offices that is now for sure not going to be occupied until at least mid-next year.  But if office time ever becomes a thing again, this would be a mighty fine place to work.

CONCEPT

私たちは一歩外へ出ると、見えない空間を意識する。知らない相手との距離感を保つために、自分の居心地の良い空間を守るために。 心の境界線は、時にその状況によって形が変化する。例えば人混みに紛れたとき、それは、檻のように強固なものになる。

私たちは、知らない人間との積極的な接触を好まないからだ。反対に、家族、友人等心を許した相手に対しては、その形は限りなく曖昧なものになる。 連続的に変化していく環境と呼吸するように、私たちは、私たち自身の「間」を作り上げる。

私は沢山の種類の空間に具体的な形を与え、そして動きの変化と役割を観察した。最終的に、その特徴的な形をいくつかインスタレーション作品としてリメイクした。 可視化したパーソナルスペースには大きく分けて２種類の形がある。１つは一人で行動する時に生まれる形、もう１つは誰かと同じ空間を共有している時に生まれる形である。そのどちらも本人の気持ちの状態を素直に表している。 人の多い場所（例えば中心街の大通りや、交差点など）を移動するときは、パーソナルスペースは特に目まぐるしく変化する。他人との接触を拒む時には緊張感のある形になるが、一方で少し開けた場所へ行くと、空間は広く抽象的な形に変化する。

에코챌린지 주간지 1호

"문탁네트워크"에서 "에코챌린지" 팀의 일지를 담은 주간지입니다. 100일간의 도전을 다음카페에서 "공생자행성"을 찾아들어가 볼 수 있습니다. 일지를 공생자행성의 유입을 원활하게 하기위한 홍보물 입니다.

이 홍보물은 에코디자인으로 이루어져있습니다. 홍보물은 홍보를 위한 단순 일회용성이 아닌 앞장은 챌린저들의 일지를 채우고, 뒷장은 문탁네트워크와 연동된 "파지사유" 카페의 장부로 쓸 수 있도록 디자인 됐습니다. 잡지라고 해서 많은 양이 아닌 주마다 한장으로 만들어 용지를 덜 사용하도록 했고, 후에 이면지들을 이용해 장부를 완성 합니다.

또 에코 디자인의 첫걸음인 잉크 줄이기로 에코폰트를 사용하여 잉크를 35% 줄이고, cmyk기준 염료를 (보통140) 90으로 한정하여 디자인 했습니다. 그래서 색감이 흐리나 읽는데는 전혀 지장이 없습니다.
