One of the most stunning comic books i have ever read. I read this a little bit after watching the new superman film that came out this year, which speaking of! being avid fan of superman, i have been waiting for a movie adaptation to capture what i loved about this character for what has felt like ages! for such a movie to release, i could not be any happier. I thoroughly adored it and launched myself back into full fixation on the man of steel and superhero comics in general.
I am very surprised i hadn't read this before, this to me feels as if it's baby's first superman's story almost, and i would recommend it as such! All-Star is a masterpiece but there is so much of the mythos that a newer fan would be unaware of and i think that would help them feel lost.
For all seasons being such a basic tale although isn't bad, it's simplicity is one of it's greatest strength's in my opinion and even so within it i think untold depth can be found. The narrative backdrop of each issue being narrated by someone important in Clark's life brought so much clarity to those character's thoughts and world views, fleshing out the world a lot and bringing upon the depth i feel is in this book despite it's simple story.
I could stare at some of these spreads for a lifetime, this book to me is such a perfect, cozy and comfortable rendition of superman and his world and has definitely become my favourite Superman story, tied with All-Star! Basic choices but they are widely regarded to be great for a reason!.
Soon i wish to read Birthright and finish the physical copy i own of Loeb's Superman/Batman run which i also am enjoying loads!.
