i was meeting with a supervisor from university and talking about lab accommodations and i said “i have DCD (developmental coordination disorder) which is also called dyspraxia so sometimes i might need to spend longer being careful with physical things so i don’t break them and injure myself or other people.” and my supervisor goes “i have dyspraxia too. if you want to view it as a disability then go ahead but i don’t”

and it was at that moment i remember that not everyone is the same disabled and now i don’t feel like she’ll take it seriously oh well

#yes this did actually happen #no im not exaggerating #yes this did annoy me and make me feel like she doesn’t respect that i’m disabled #no im not going to say anything because its really not worth arguing #and if she does deny me accommodations i can go to another team and report it #and i’m also uni staff so they’ll have to listen to me otherwise the team i’m a part of will have my back #disabled #actually disabled #DCD #developmental coordination disorder #dyspraxia #actually dyspraxic

Dear disability tumblr,

i’m lookin for a travel mug without a screw on lid. My brother has dyspraxia/dcd, and he would like to take a travel mug that keeps liquids like coffee, tea, soup etc hot with him to university, but the idea is moot if he can’t screw on the lid by himself.

Does anyone know of good travel mugs that don’t utilize a screw on lid??
