Thorn apple aka datura is one of the most significant ethnobotanicals that we have as humans. From asthma to surgery to skin conditions datura has helped with many of our most common ailments, but it’s spiritual medicine is where it can really help us. This plant has important ethnopharmacological uses in all places where it is native or naturalized. From toxic soil remediation to shamanic death, this plant has had a fascinating history and offers some promising potential for witches and plant medicine practitioners alike. In this presentation I will be offering a crash course in all of the pertinent datura history, folklore and phytochemistry. I will be going in to detail on the plant’s magical and ceremonial uses and providing instructions for a variety of practical techniques.
