Because I didn’t feel like he was going to be okay. And he didn’t look like he was going to be okay. I don’t know Mom. I got up immediately and started looking around the house. I checked Jake’s room. I checked the training room. I checked his office. I almost called Grandpa but then I thought I should tell you. He’s not here mom. Something is wrong. I feel it.” Mar’i rubbed her hand against her chest to try and soothe her wildly beating heart.
Dick is missing and Kory and her family enlist in an epic rescue mission that takes an unexpected turn.

dickkory angsty wip that I will probably never finish
im pretty sure I wrote this after reading the infamous pool scene from Titans (2008) because the title of the document is "im mad at dg" lol
also inspired by a timbern fic I read (or im pretty sure it was timbern)
I was trying to see if I could work something with the other new wip I started but still blanking and since this has been siting in my wips for like more than a year, im sharing it here.
the main idea was the characters getting memories of other timelines. I do not remember what the subplot was; something about a villain making them see one timeline's worst heartbreak or something. I only wrote conversations, not the plot.
Anyway, anyone curious, read below!
In all universes that Koriand'r ended on Earth, she would fall madly, deeply in love with Richard "Dick" Grayson.
But in most those universes, he barely answered to her feelings.
Ever since the near end of the world, massive universes colliding, resulting on remembering various timelines, Kory could only think of that.
She remembered vividly 12 universes other than the present one. Four of them, she never escaped from slavery. Three of them, Tamaran was never invaded but other tragedies unfold on her beloved home planet. She didn't like to dwell on those seven universes.
However, the five other universes were very similar to her current life; she escaped the Citadel, fell on Earth, kissed one Dick Grayson, proceed to fall madly in love with him, joined the Teen Titans, became a hero of Earth.

"In most universes, you do not love me as much as I love you."
She can read the surprise on his face and he looked around the room, as if seeing for the first time. Perhaps finally understanding why the spell had trapped them here.
"Kori-"
"Do you love me?" She interrupted. "In a way that means forever. In a way that we never had to find excuses."
His breath hitched which was the confirmation she needed to know that he knew this sentence; which meant he knew the answer the alternate Dick had given to her alternate self.
His mouth opened but no sound came out and it was enough of an answer to her.
And just like that, the room started to spin the colours fading and they were back in the tower.

"Kori, please-"
"No Dick. I'm done. I'm tired. I can't only be your comfort when things get rough. I-"
"I was always scared to love you," he interrupted and that Kory stayed silent. "I was always scared to love you because of loving you is..."
"Difficult?" she guessed when he trailed.
He shook his head no. "No, loving you is easy. Too easy. But building a relationship would've been difficult. I could see that when we were younger; I could only see what made us different. But... when I got memories from the other timelines, I realized that I just was lazy. I wasn't able to make the effort to make it work. I took you for granted and for that, I am sorry."
Kory stayed silent.
"I... remember more than most. All the Bats do. Our average is 50 universes."
"50?!" She exclaimed.
"Yup, B is the one who remember the most with 74, I'm at 52. Tim is at 49... It was... chaotic at first to understand what it all meant. But there was common thing I had in all those universes; if I do not die by the time I'm 27, I become a father. Biological father, since there are a couple of universes I basically adopt Damian as my own. And all the time when I have biological children, minus 1 universe, you are the mother."
Kory's eyes widened at this. "I only remember one universe where we have a child, and then you die when she is 4."
"Yeah, I think I remember this one," he paused, eyes lost in memories that weren't his own. "The last thing I... he thought when he died was that he wasn't able to give Mar'i her bunny plushie."
"Damian got it from the debris. Washed it and gave it to Mar'i stating that a piece of her father would always be with her as long as she kept it. It was her favourite."
They both had glassy eyes with unshed tears.
Dick cleared his throat. "I didn't come here to reminisce other choices we could've made. I..." He stopped.
Sensing he was still debating his words, Kory sat down on her bed, her rage now completely dissolved and patted the spot next to her. He hesitated before he sat next to her.

Dick turns and looks at her; she's looking at him sadly. He swallows a lump on his throat and nods. He turns back to his kids.
“You guys are going to have so much fun,” he tells them, voice breaking a bit. He turns back to Kory. “You have the camera right? You’re sure it’s in the bag?”

Kory takes Jake and Mar'i to visit Tamaran for two and a half months. But Dick, unable to survive on Tamaran, has to stay on Earth, where he tries to cope with missing his family.
