you had spent the night at wayne manor before, but never had you spent more than three days there.

and now you were spending two weeks in dick's childhood bedroom because your apartment building was being fumigated.

you were currently sat on the floor of dick's childhood bedroom, your clothes spilling out of a suitcase as you searched for something to wear in your underwear.

when the door opened your instinct was to cover yourself with whatever you could find considering that jason had walked in on you in your underwear last week.

but when you spotted the familiar sight of your boyfriends muscular arms and bare chest, his hands full of two mugs.

" morning " he said as he offered one out to you, sitting himself down on the desk chair after he pressed a kiss to the top of your head.

" morning " you replied, your heart warming as you turned to face him, abandoning the task of finding an outfit. " i miss our apartment " you lamented, leaning back against his closet as you took a sip of the warm drink.

" i know, me too. as much as i love you, you have a lot of stuff that needs to go back in your closet. "

his joke let a soft laugh fall from your lips. if it weren't for dick you weren't sure how you would be handling this.

you stood from the floor, setting your coffee down on his desk before sitting down on his lap, your arms looping around his neck while his dropped down to your waist.

" just a few more days and we'll be back in our bed, and we won't have to worry about locking doors anymore " his teasing let another round of laughs echo against the bedroom walls.

staying at wayne manor definitely came with its positives, including the huge kitchen you could use to make your meals.

the huge fridge and vast counter space made it easy to make slightly more elaborate meals.

including making your own pesto for your sandwich and for the rest of the house to use if they so pleased.

you were mid way through cutting up some basil when a pair of arms wrapped around your torso, halting your movements so you didnt injure yourself or him by being distracted with a blade in your hand.

you spun in his grip, your arms lifting to wrap around his neck as your head tilted back to look at him.

" how was your workout ?" you questioned, noting his much sweatier appearance than when he had left you this morning.

" good, tiring, kicked jasons ass. " a laugh reverberated through his chest causing a smile to spread on your lips. " what're you doing ?"

" making pesto for lunch. you want a sandwich ?"

his response came in the form of his head dropping down to press a short kiss to your lips.

" please. i'm gonna shower, but i'll be back before you finish "

another kiss to your lips before his hands started to pull back from your waist.

" i love you " he whispered.

" i love you too. now go shower, you smell "

as the day wound down, and the manor emptied with bat boys going on patrol around dothan city, you found yourself exploring the building as you did every night.

so far, your favourite place was the balcony on a guest room on the top floor of the house. it was quiet, you could see the forest surrounding the manor, and so far every night you had been lounging there, dick had pulled himself up over the balcony after patrol to greet you.

tonight was no different.

you had been lounging on a woven chair with some music playing from your phone as you watched the trees sway gently in the breeze.

hands clasping at the metal railing made you jump out of your skin, your hand shooting up to clutch at your chest.

" jesus, dick. what the hell? you scared the shit out of me " you could feel your pulse racing under your fingertips.

" sorry sweetheart " he said as he sat down on the accompanying deck chair to yours, peeling his mask off of his face and dropping it down on the table. " thought i'd tell you that we can go back to the apartment tomorrow. they've finished fumigating. got the message when i was out on patrol "

your shoulders sagged in relief.

" thank god. " you practically groaned, standing from your chair and draping yourself across the practically solid surface of dick's thighs, curling into his form. " baby, i love you, and your family. but i dont think i could've lasted past tonight. i want to go to sleep tomorrow night in my underwear and not have to worry about scarring your brothers "

*Pertains to the show & cast of HBO’s Titans— storyline used of Jericho’s death and that’s it.* I used Ben’s Bruce because idk, it just hits with him.

Rain drops slammed into the windshield, but it didn’t stop you from racing up the long, winding driveway.

Wayne Manor was dully lit, the only other source of light was from your headlights, and the lightning lighting up the sky. Your hands trembled on the steering wheel— either from the cold, the wet blouse that clung to your skin, or the fact you knew you shouldn’t be here. You. Shouldn’t. Be. Here

This is wrong. With a shaky breath, your gaze fell down to the diamond delicately resting on your ring finger. It glinted back up at you with the faintest of light hitting it, a tear slipped down your cheek before you could stop it.

It wrapped around your finger— just like the man you were going to marry and the one you weren’t. The porch light flicked on and you quickly wiped your tears away as you found the courage to look up.

Bruce’s strong figure stood at the top of the porch step, his hands in his pockets, his gaze fixated on your car.

You turned the key in the ignition, the sound of the ignition dying made you realize how loud your heart was beating. Your grip tightened on the wheel until your knuckles burned white.

A part of your mind screamed at you to turn the key, and leave before it was too late.

Instead, your hands tugged at your blouse trying to smooth out the wet silk against your skin. The ring caught to a button. Without a second thought, you slipped it off of your finger and sat it in the cupholder.

With a deep shaky breath, you opened the car door and stepped out. Rain swallowed your body, soaking every inch of you, but you continued to walk.

Your heels clicked against the wet pavement, and with every step you pleaded with yourself to turn around. Get in the car, Y/N, and leave. But you still continued walking up to meet Bruce underneath the porch light.

His hair was salt and pepper colored—something you weren’t quite used to seeing on the caped crusader, but it was still Bruce. His hand reached out for you and reluctantly, you took his hand in yours and he pulled you up the steps into those damned strong arms.

You shivered against his warm body, his chin resting on your wet hair, “Let’s get you inside before you freeze.” He mumbled and you let him walk you in through the big oak doors.

Bruce wasn’t surprised that you came to Wayne Manor— especially when he received a voicemail from you.

“Bruce, it’s… it’s me… I, uh— I need someone to talk to and I’m afraid you’re the only one who’ll understand. Dick isn’t… Never-mind, it doesn’t matter. I really need to talk to you, so if you’re around, call me. Text me. Or don’t. That’s fine too. I’ll understand. Bye.”

No matter how hard he tried, Bruce Wayne could not keep himself away from you. It was an uphill battle, one that would never be won, but lost— over and over and over again.

He guided you to his study where the fireplace was rolling and emitting warmth; you took a seat on the end of the couch that was closest to the fireplace and Bruce sat at the other end.

His arm rested over the back of the couch and you looked over at him, your wet hair clung to your face, and he couldn’t help but to imagine all the ways he could warm you up. “What is it that you needed to talk about, Y/N?” He asked and you closed your eyes at the sound of his voice.

Smooth, deep, low, and even. Your hands clutched onto your knees and you opened your eyes to look into his brown ones. “I’m sure you already know, but Dick is starting the Titans again.” You said your lips trembling.

“And you don’t agree?” He asked and you nodded. “Not after what happened to… Jericho.” You said quietly and Bruce nodded his head, already knowing where you were going with this.

Bruce knew you, but he knew Dick even better. Redemption— this was Dick’s chance to redeem what he had done in the past.

A tear rolled down your cheek and you shook your head, a sad laugh leaving your lips, “I sound pathetic, don’t I? An ex-assassin crying because my fiancé doesn’t care to listen to me.”

The words took Bruce back to years ago when you were only twenty years old, and Dick had brought you to the manor.

Dick brought you into Wayne Manor with the intent of giving you a normal life, you caught his eye from the moment you walked in.

Every step was calculated, confidence flowed through you naturally. Your eyes scanned as much as possible, taking in a sight you were not used to.

Bruce helped disable the chip in your head that was used to control you, and he took the responsibility of training you in a non-murderous way.

Then one day out of the blue, Bruce proposed the idea of giving you a suit, an alias, and a reason to keep using your unique capabilities for good. A chance at redemption. When Dick found out, he was infuriated— “It’s a waste to not let her use her abilities.” Bruce said as he leaned back in his chair.

Dick was fuming, “She was raised in an environment where she was used to manipulate and assassinate people, Bruce! She was used as a weapon, and I think at this point she deserves to live a normal life.” Dick explained and Bruce dismissed his feeling— like always.

Bruce waved his hand, “A normal life? You can’t give her that, son.” He said shaking his head, “What do you want her to do? Stay at home, bake cookies, have dinner ready for you on the table while you are doing the very thing she wants to help with?” Bruce chuckled, “A woman like her, with her expertise, could and will do Gotham some good. She shouldn’t be deprived of her abilities. She feels the need to redeem herself, and if you can’t see that in her actions, maybe you shouldn’t be with her.” He said as he walked out of the room with his head held high.

Bruce was sly at hiding his true feelings for you, he was always more than just a mentor to you.

You knew that the moment he held you against his body, showing you how to “accurately” unarm someone. (You already knew how, but he needed a reason to hold you.)

His hands splayed on your belly, showing you the proper formation, and his breath was hot against your ear. Needless to say, you had him unarmed in seconds, pinning him to the ground, and then he was on top of you.

His hand fell to your thigh, “You don’t sound pathetic, Y/N. You have very right to be upset, ex-assassin or not.” He moved closer to you, his fingers gently tucking the wet hair that clung to your face, behind your ear.

You should’ve flinched away from his touch, but didn’t. Bruce’s dark brown eyes focused on yours, “Why don’t you want him to start a new Titans? Dawn won’t be there to make you feel inferior and Hank, well we know there was history there.” His fingers remained close to your temple and your heart continued to thunder in your chest.

You swallowed hard, embarrassed at his words. “It’s not because of them, Bruce… It’s Dick… Every day he drifts further from me, and I can’t keep up.” You said and then you looked over at your ringless finger. “We used Jericho until it was too late. No matter how much I begged him to stop, we got an innocent boy killed.”

You paused before continuing, “My ledger runs red, Bruce. And Jericho’s name is in it. I didn’t want that. I can’t bear it happening again— to Rachel, Gar, or anyone else.” You breathed out deeply, tears welling up in your eyes.

Bruce cupped your face in both hands, forcing you to meet his gaze. “You did not kill Jericho. None of you did. His blood is on his father’s hands, not yours, or Dick’s.” His jaw tightened. “But listen to me, Y/N—those kids will make their choice, just like you did when you first came here. You can’t take that from them.”

His thumbs brushed across your cheeks, catching the tears before they could fall. “And if you don’t want to be part of it,” his voice dropped lower and more steady, “you don’t have to be.” The fireplace crackled, heat spreading through the room. His gaze fell briefly to your lips.

And though you knew you should move, should remember the ring waiting in the cupholder of your car— you didn’t.

Instead, you moved closer, your lips ghosting over his. Bruce didn’t move, he froze into place, his thumb resting on your jawline, and the other four fingers sat on your neck. His mind was screaming no, you’re his son’s fiancé, but you looked at him like you did all of those years ago— before Dick. Before the two of you were a thing.

But you were looking at him like you once had, the way no one else had, or ever could. He inched closer and your heart was begging you to leave, “Tell me no.” You whispered, but he didn’t. The word was selfishly being held back on his tongue.

A crack of thunder rumbled the floor beneath you, and the power stuttered off. His lips crashed against yours, desperate, bruising— years of self-control and denial of the tension was severed in a moment.

The only source of light was from the fireplace, and the dark continued to envelope both of you in its comforting arms. You both lost the battle that was never ending in one singular moment.

You clutched at his shirt, pulling him closer, and his hand slid to the back of your neck, holding you steady.

A voice in your head screamed ‘stop! What about Dick?’ Every ounce of instinct told you this was something you could never come back from. But his mouth was on yours, hot and unforgiving, and all you could do was fall deeper into him.

He broke the kiss only to breathe, his forehead resting against yours, his chest rising and falling. His hands stayed on you, not wanting to release you. “This is wrong,” he rasped. The words didn’t sound like conviction—more like confession.

“I know,” you breathed, your lips brushing his again, betraying you both. And then you kissed him again—longer, slower, surrendering completely. His hand moved to your waist, pulling you onto his lap as if he needed you closer, needed you.

In the back of your mind and his, a similar voice never stopped screaming no. But neither of you listened.

HOWEVER, I had tons of messages stating they wanted to read it, so here it is. Debating on a smutty beginning for part two, let me know if that is something you want to see.

Why do I always forget how much Titans piss me the fuck off? (Max Titans show)
