Happy Solstice! ☀️ So solstice, is related to the sun, and dandelions, remind me of little suns, so dandelions to celebrate solstice seem like a cute choice. Oh, and I wanted to do a small tribute -parody of those cool boho prints of flower markets all over the world. Sometimes you just don't need to travel to see flowers, sometimes they're right there in your backyard :D Also if you go to patreon there are some wallpapers and coloring pages inspired by this design.
Dandelion 🌼
About 15 years ago, I was looking after these two kids who were 4 & 3yo, and they asked me to make them dandelion bracelets. I didn't know how and when I told them, they laughed and asked how come someone as old as me (I was around 16) didn't know how to make a flower bracelet? So I asked them to teach me, and so I sat down in the grass with these tiny humans who went around explaining in almost scientific detail, what are the main characteristics to look for when selecting a premium flower for bracelet making. Then they picked a whole bunch and sat down with me and showed me step by step how to split the stem, how to fit your wrist inside, and how to tie it off in the end. It took me 2 or 3 tries to get it right, but when I managed to do it myself and tied theirs, they were so happy, there was so much screaming and laughing and jumping you'd think I told them I was Santa. Then they said I had to learn to make necklaces and crowns too, so here we went again, walking around the field, selecting the top dandelions for crown weaving. Then they said I had to kneel down in front of them so they could reach my head, and got to putting together the lushest flower crown I've ever worn, full of dandelions, daisies and apple blossoms. Then we had an honest to someone full blown coronation amidst some wheat grass, and by the end of the day I didn't have a limb not covered by flowers while the two of them were dancing around me in circles and laughing their heads off. I haven't seen either of them in at least a decade, but every spring for the rest of my life when flowers begin to open, I will think of those kids, and I will feel the warmth of their laughter every single time I see a dandelion.
