While Shang Tsung does seem obsessed with Kuai Liang, I don't think it's exactly comparable to the Sonya thing in 95. Shang saw Sonya as an object, a doll, he even dressed her up.

With Kuai, he seems...more respectful. Shang sees him as a person. Dare I say he cares about him? In a way? He doesn't really put him down or objectify him.

Unlike the Sonya thing was basically a plot device to make her a damsel in distress, this one with Kuai actually adds some depth to Shang Tsung.

At least that's my take on this.

no, I absolutely agree. it's definitely a lot different than his obsession with Sonya in the past.

his offer of teaching Kuai Liang to shapeshift alone shows more depth for him than his obsession for Sonya ever did. like you said, Shang Tsung's obsession with her turns her into a damsel in distress that needs to be saved. but an offer to teach someone the ability that gives him a lot of his power over others? that's not something that Shang Tsung would do lightly (and to be honest, until I saw it myself, I considered it completely out of character).

Do you think the Mileena/Kitana-Bi-Han/Kuai parallels are accidental? Or they will actually interact with each other in story and it means something?

I dont thiiink theyre 100% accidental, because from what theyve shown us, their plotline is THE SAME with just tweaks in characters' personalities (honorable younger sibling looking in worry at their older sibling in a position of leadership but there is smth slightly wrong with them) so how could you possibly miss seeing the resemblance

But regardless of if I think theyre accidental or not, because of the way nsr tell their game plot, I dont think we're going to see the four interact: they always kept the ninja storyline separated from the rest in previous timelines, or mostly keeping to itself, and same went from the stories in outworld. Long story short: too much shit going on in both sides for them to actually "make time" to interact with each other and have a "recognization thru the other" moment (which I mourn for kuai liang and kitana bc theyre the saaame)

Gilgamesh + Emiya

I did not expect this. I think I'm going to have to say I ship them "not at all".

Like, we don't get much between Gil and Emiya, but from what we see of them, I feel like they would not get along.

Now, I think Gilgamesh might have a higher opinion of Emiya than his past counterpart. But, I feel like they just would not be on friendly terms.

And not even in a way that "they hate each other and that turns into a friendship or romantic relationship" way. Just in a way where they're fine being around each other but just don't really get along.

Thanks for the ask! This was actually really interesting to think about, and how I thought their dynamic might work.

But Tobirama didn't isolate them. Danzo did. The manga is clear about that. All Tobirama did was giving the Uchiha jobs. He didn't hate them. He had wanted peace with them since childhood.
