This week marks 30 years since the passage of the Americans With Disabilities Act, an act passed with the intent of enlarging civil rights not only for disabled Americans, but all Americans. Despite this, 70% of disabled people have claimed to be victims of some form of abuse, and disabled women on average are twice as likely to experience physical or sexual assault than their non-disabled counterparts according to a Canadian study.
