Been thinking about the Brave Brigade (nothing unusual there), and I started focusing really hard on this member right here
We know nothing about her. Not a name, not a power, not how she relates to the other members. But I shall not let these limitations hold me back, so allow me to construct what is technically an OC for your reading pleasure, and when Adhoc gives us more info (because they will. Source: trust me, bro), we'll see how far off I was!
First, I was thinking about her powers. Her outfit—especially the cape and visor—makes me think she's a mobility-centered hero. If Track Star wasn't already the team speedster, I'd give that role to her. But since he is, we look elsewhere for powers, and that's when I gravitated toward flying. Except, I thought that was too basic, so here's what I really think her power is:
She can manifest a construct similar in shape and size to a hoverboard (but not in material) that allows her to ride/surf the wind. Think a combination of Marvel's Silver Surfer and Jack Frost from Rise of the Guardians. She can reach both high speeds and altitudes. In addition to surfing the wind with her construct, she can use it as shield and bludgeoning weapon against opponents
Having her power picked out, it was time for the name. This is the trickiest, but I landed on Airheart for her hero name (in reference to Amelia Earheart), and Wendy Wright for her civilian name (reference to the Wright brothers and to the literary character, while also having that double consonant name consistent in early superhero media)
The connecting tissue between Amelia Earheart and the Wright brothers is planes, and that is where I think a lot of her personality comes from. She loves planes and is very knowledgeable about them. If there's ever something she needs to remember, she'll always connect to a plane
With this in mind, her charisma and vigor are her dump stats. Combat and mobility are her highest stats. Intelligence falls somewhere in the middle
While part of the team, she was great at working with everyone, equally suited for support and damage-dealing rules. She was not, however, much good at comforting civilians, talking down villains, or being the face of the Brave Brigade
Her lack of people skills is much of the reason why she failed to notice what was happening between Robbie and Elliot, both of whom she respected and admired without ever truly knowing them. The consequences of their fallout pushed Wendy to learn more about the team members they had left
She was also the one who ultimately convinced Chase to stop running once the truth of his powers came out. He was moved by her seriousness, how she confronted him head-on. It was a sharp contrast to her usual aloof nature
After Chase left, though, the Brave Brigade completely broke down. She works as a cross-country courier now, delivering important information that can't be risked being sent electronically. She isn't in Los Angeles almost at all anymore
But when she does eventually come, there's on part of Robbie's life she desperately wants to know more about...
