How it feels to put a pun in the research title
If you're working on a research paper and can't find an article (and Sci-Hub is down or unable to locate it), you can try reaching out to the authors themselves.
I just did this for the first time -- I'm curious to see if it will work. I wasn't sure how to approach, but I found this useful resource online so I'm sharing it here!

Oh my god I just found a collection of TWENTY hand-written orders by the sultan to the chief black eunuch about repairs and constructions and stuff about the palaces - I’m not even at the archives (duh), was just browsing through the catalogue looking for something - this is insane!

Update - Mel’s life
Hello my dear friends, I’ve been pretty quiet over the last couple of days. Just wanted to tell you that I’m doing fine, actually, I feel little bit more hopeful and more balanced due to a new therapist (an interesting and multifaceted man) who encouraged me to look ahead and fight against my intrusive thoughts caused by my OCD. He knows so much, not only about psychology, but also about theology and morals and ethics. It’s a pleasure to talk to him and learn more about myself and how to face my anxiety in general. He’s a person on whom hopes are pinned and I’m confident that we’ll work on fruitful solution approaches. After our first meeting, I totally changed from crank to talkative girl. My boyfriend said I acted past all recognition. My disseration/PhD isn’t working at all. The professor who’s supervising me, ignores me wholeheartedly and I’m not happy with my topic either. I might talk to him as soon as the new semester starts, trying to convince him that either “Food and Drinks in Mesopotamia” or “Medical devices found at Ninive” are way more interesting issues. There’s a new project I’m currently working on. Me and a guy who’s got great influence in my hometown agreed on doing presentations about my field of study: Near Eastern Archaeology. I’ll start in October until December. Can’t wait to give lectures, I’m so excited. I applied for countless jobs, unsuccessfully so far... but a novel by Banana Yoshimoto inspired me to take life as a gift and my therapist told me to tell myself from time to time that I’m okay the way I am. Still, I hope to find work soon for I need to pay dozens of bills... I’m still a huge Team Rocket/Pokémon-fan and working on different fanfictions just as “Maria’s Butler II”, “Broken Halos” and there’s a new idea floating around in my head about Jessie, James and Jessiebelle attending boarding school, falling in love and experiencing romantic feelings for the first time in their lives, but it’s still in its very early stages. I’ve been inspired while watching “Watashi wo hanasanaide”, a Japanese TV-Series starring Haruma Miura. Talk to you soon, guys. Stay safe and take care <3
DISSERTATION STUDY ON SOCIAL MEDIA USAGE
MY DISSERTATION STUDY: I would like to invite you to take part in my research study about your thoughts and feelings towards social media usage. The study will consist of three questionnaires, the link to the first part is below, but the second and third part will be sent via email, with one week (7 days) between each questionnaire. The study will take 30 minutes to complete as a whole. At time 1, you will be asked some questions about your thoughts and feelings about yourself. At time 2, you will be asked to read a short paragraph regarding the effects of social media, and then immediately asked questions about your thoughts and feelings surrounding the paragraph and your use of social media over the following week. At time 3, You will be asked to reflect on the information previously given at time 2. You will be asked to respond to a short questionnaire about your social media usage. Participation is totally voluntary, and you may withdraw your data at any point without giving a reason. There are no known risks of completing the study, and we hope that you will enjoy taking part. Data will not be analysed individually, we are only interested in looking at group trends. All information gained from you will be treated confidentially. If you have any questions at all please feel free to contact the researcher: Kirsty Stimpson at [email protected] or supervisor: Sue Churchill at [email protected]. Many thanks, Kirsty Stimpson

Day 36 [17 July]
Finally finished all the reading/ transcribing/ data distribution for all the documents I’ve gathered since the beginning. That is fifty-eight (!!!) account registers from the 17th century (in varying thickness, from 100+ pages to singe sheet ones) - not counting the ones I scoured through, eliminated, put aside, etc.
Frankly, I’m feeling a bit faint.
