You’ve mentioned Casting Stones: What are they?

My casting stones are my first divination tool which I devised when I was a baby witch because I couldn't afford to go out and buy a pendulum or tarot cards.

The idea for them was inspired by Elder Futhark Runes and Pendulums. I wanted something that could reliably answer Yes/No questions, regardless of slightly shaky hands. I haven't seen anything similar to them so I wanted to share how I made them and how to use them for all the baby witches and broke witches, or people who are just looking for a different kind of divination tool.

I picked four smooth river stones from a nearby stream. that could all fit in my hand at once. They’re all different shapes and but mostly are the same size, and are fairly flat. each of them is a color i connect with one of the four elements. A reddish one for fire, an off white one for wind, a true brown for earth and a dark grey for water. I find that this distinction in color brings more balance to the Casting stones as a group. Then on one side of each of them I drew a sigil each for truth, connection to the universe, connection and answered questions.

Here’s how they work: Casting stones like pendulums can tend to take on a life of their own, developing a personality as you work with them. Mine can, and do sass me when I ask silly, confusing or indulgent questions. They can be used to ask questions of spirits or of the universe, and I have even on a few occasions used them to communicate with deities. I recommend cleansing and charging them once a month at least. The following is the method for using them.

1. Hold the stones and ask the question aloud or in your head. 2. Toss the stones. 3. Interpret the results

4 stones face up, is a definitive yes. 3 stones face up is a yes, but the answer may be influenced by your actions. 2 stones face up and 2 face down is an unknown, or a maybe. 3 stones face down is a no, but the answer may be affected by your actions. 4 Stones face down is a definitive no.

Im so excited to hear that you’re intrested in pendulum readings!Honestly, I’ve only been doing pendulums readings for a few months now. Its one of my newer divination tools that I’ve aquired. I started with Tarot and felt a pull to expand my divination practice. Even my cards were telling me to expand on it. There were just signs all around me that were pulling me to the pendulum lol. When I was in bookstores, books about pendulums would call to me. When I went into metaphysical stores, the first thing I wanted to check out were their selection of pendulums or felt a a tug to go towards that area of the store. Hell, even my Pinterest and Tumblr were posting WAY more stuff about Pendulums than before. And so I was like “Yup! Pendulum it is!” I learned by reading up on pendulums and asking questions. What are the pros and cons? How safe is it? What steps do I have to take in order to have accurate readings? How does this benefit me and my craft? How can I benefit the pendulum in order for it to get its message out? What will I be doing with this gift? Those were just a few questions. I also bought the book that has been calling to me for like a year about pendulums. That really helped a lot! It’s called “The Great Pendulum Book” by Petra Sonneberg (I believe thats how you spell it). It helped me learn the basics, but I stemmed off from there knowing full well how divination tools work. All divination tools do not behave in the way that a book tells you they will. So I learned the things that make my pendulum happy and the way He likes readings to be done. We really have come along way and developed a beautiful relationship with one another!

I believe everyone has the ability to learn the pendulum! You just have to be patient with it. Grow a relationship. Your pendulum, you will notice, is just an extension of yourself. The better the relationship, the more it will want to help and guide you. I think, far too often: someone picks up a pendulum and gets frustrated easily when it doesnt give them good readings on the first day. You guys are strangers at that point that need to build a trust. Your best friend didnt become your best friend over night. You guys had to hang out, chat, tell each other secrets, confide in one another and the relationship developed over time. Same goes with pendulums or any other divination tool! I really hope that you find a pendulum that you have a strong connection with if you do decide to go down the path. Please keep me updated if you decide to do so! I love hearing people’s journeys.
