In the 1969 Czech Cinderella, during the third ball, Cinderella asks Prince Mojmír if he would still love her if she were a commoner. He assures her that if she were, he would love her more than ever... but then he remarks that "luckily," it's clear that she isn't a commoner, because such beauty and refinement as hers could only belong to a lady of high birth.

At least he makes up for it later by being overjoyed when he finally finds her, rags and all, but still...
I'd like to introduce this prince to Don Ottavio from Don Giovanni: a.k.a. Mr. "How can I ever believe a nobleman would be capable of such evil deeds?" I think they might be friends.

this has forced me to confront just how many of these characters i don't actually have really solid designs for yet lol. whoops
masetto and zerlina: overall i just want them to look young. and i enjoy drawing masetto fucked up lol. i think the only consistent thing i've drawn zerlina with so far is a necklace of some kind
ottavio: glasses. because he is a nerd. actually because i had a (now graduated) tenor friend in uni who wore glasses and whom i thought would make a nice ottavio. other than that i don't have a super solid design for him yet.
anna: i have even less of a solid design for her i just know that she should look like she's been crying
elvira: slim and tall features. beauty mark on her left cheek. this is defining to me
leporello: wide and round features. he should look like an underweight fat man if that makes sense. exhausted and disheveled and such. and prominent undereye bags/lines. i like to use those kind of lines on any/all of the older/fully adult characters (ie not zerlina and masetto) to convey that they're older and Going Through It, but leporello especially given how much he has to put up with constantly
don g: smug motherfucker. ideally he should look like he's up to something always. defining visual features are the neat/trim beard and the stupid fucking hair curl over his face. it literally doesn't even look like the don to me anymore without the beard and the stupid curl
