20:42 — what brings you here all of a sudden? crash into a world so still, chill kill enters like thunder, that thrill be makin' my mind ill. | chill kill by red velvet
the wet squelching of the rug under your feet was enough to make you cringe and give you chills, even more than the water that dripped from your dress down your skin. you walked at a painstakingly slow pace that could only be compared to stephen king's carrie. a shiver rolled down your spine as you walked down the hallway to where your boyfriend laid on the couch in the hotel room with a book in his hand.
a little context might work. it was 8 at night. there was a pool. you didn't have a swimsuit, so you didn't jump in. your boyfriend, who now laid dry on the couch, prim and proper, dry as the sahara desert, pushed you in. then left you there.
you weren't mad at him for pushing you in and ditching you. no, that was just a normal prank for the both of you. you would've done the exact same.
no, you were mad he ruined your dress. the 285 dollar dress you've been waiting months for, that you saved up money for.
as you stood there like a horror character from a movie, doyoung's head laid back on his arm, placing his finger in between the book pages, covering his mouth as he stifled a laugh, "what happened?" he teased.
another shiver and you grit your teeth at him, "my dress..."
doyoung chuckled, "yeah?" he glanced at you up and down, "probably shouldn't have pushed you into the pool while you were wearing white." he dog-eared the page of the book, sitting up on the couch.
you walked around the couch to stare at him, the water echoing between the two of you as you stood still, droplets hitting the floor, spreading your arms, "give me a hug." you whispered, demanding the hug, not even bothering to ask.
doyoung jumped up, holding his hand out, "no, no, i think i'm okay."
"come on, doyo, give me a hug."
doyoung made his way around the couch, staring at you as you chased him. "come on, yn, you wouldn't want my nice shirt to — oh, okay, there it is."
you were able to catch him, hugging him tightly with the wet fabric draped over your body. you mischievously chuckled as he groaned at the feeling of the chlorinated pool water seep into his own clothes.
"ah... so warm." you pulled away, smiling as you saw the front of his shirt turning a dark grey, "you got a little something there." you teased.
doyoung matched your look, pecking your lips softly, "i have a wonderful idea on how to warm up." he smiled, his hands lingering on your hips.
you rolled your eyes, "is this your way of apologizing about my dress?"
"maybe." doyoung chuckled.
maybe you could forgive him for his destroying of your dress, even if it wasn't by buying you another.

[5:45 am]— engineer!Doyoung wiped the sweat off his brow, pushing himself to his full height. He had been on his knees, crawling around under the newest spaceship prototype our team had to offer. His eyes were dark, calculating, and I knew not to open my mouth when he looked like that. That look could only mean one thing: something was wrong.
“Who assembled this engine?” he asked the room of tired engineers. We had been dragged out of our bunks only thirty minutes before and he was the only one who seemed to be awake enough to work.
A man stepped forward, his eyebags and bedhead evident. “I did, sir.”
“We turn the damn thing on and the engine explodes.” Doyoung kicked the underside of the ship and I took a step back. “Who authorized you to be on this team?”
“Taeyong, sir,” the man said, looking as if he wanted to crawl into himself.
Doyoung chuckled humorlessly. “And I thought Taeyong had some brains on him.” His voice turned cold. “Get the hell out of my workshop.”
The poor engineer didn’t need to be told twice, practically running out of the room with all the strength he could muster. Once the door closed, Doyoung turned to the rest of us. “I need a working engine by tonight. If you fail, humanity dies. Get to work.”
We hurried to our stations, putting our heads together like a football team to brainstorm our options, but our ideas were wearing thin. We had been doing this routine for months now and we seemed further from a break through than we did the day before. No one had slept more than a wink, running off of fear and caffeine, and it was a wonder that our bodies didn’t give out like the machines we were paid to make.
Doyoung went from station to station, joining the brainstorm before butting out and joining another. The end of the world as we knew it was coming and he still held us all on a leash, as if extreme discipline would keep us alive. Maybe it would.
Finally, a girl from a station across the room said, “I think we have an idea.”
We turned to face her, a room of brilliantly exhausted engineers with sparkles in their eyes waiting for instruction, waiting for someone to tell our bodily machines how to function. She looked nervous, cleared her throat, then said, “Only if Doyoung approves of it, of course.”
Doyoung didn’t look impressed. “Go on.”
The girl gave us a quick run through of her team’s idea, which seemed to be the same as the last idea we had come up with, but Doyoung gave a nod at the end of it, looked us each in the eye and said, “Maybe we will save humanity after all.” Then, he clapped his hands, all hints of optimism gone. “Now, get to work.”

DOYOUNG HATES SPRING SO MUCH.
Unlike everyone, he has developed a hatred for those vibrant, dreamy, and beautiful flowers that bloom ever so lovingly in the spring — for those fresh, warm spring breezes that give people a sense of comfort, and a hope to live.
As he walks past the crowded streets filled with cherry blossoms and the cheerful squeals of people, he feels empty.
He feels empty because there is no one who would give his hand a tight, warm squeeze, there is no one who would give him a smile that would melt his heart there is no one who would make him feel like he is where he truly belongs to.
Because there is no one that compares to you.
It's been two years since he had been watching you over secretly in the hopes that you would remember him. It's been two years since you met with a tragic car accident and got diagnosed with amnesia.
You never seemed to remember him, to remember he was the love of your life — your high school sweetheart — and your husband. He tried to start over but he failed, he failed to give you the same love and comfort that had made you his. Maybe his and your love weren't meant to last forever after all.
So he decided to enter your life once again, this time just as a friend — and that too for an excuse to see you once every week. He gripped the bouquet of flowers tight in his hand, his heart pounding for no reason.
For the first time in two years, you had called him to meet in the same park where you first met. Your voice on the phone was heavy and serious as if you were biting back tears. And that made him feel scared. Perhaps you wanted him to get out of your life, to leave you alone, to just let you live freely because the love you had for him was all in the past. He doesn't know.
However, when his eyes landed on your worried and timid figure sitting under the cherry blossom tree and fiddling your fingers, his heart almost dropped. There was a diamond ring slitting on your finger prettily — no, a wedding ring slipped on your finger prettily, his gaze immediately went to the exact same band that his hand was adoring.
You looked up to see his figure just meters away from you, eyes widening at the surprised look on his face. Maybe it finally clicked him.
It wasn't long before you couldn't control yourself and ran into his arms, tears falling continuously. Doyoung was taken back for a moment but wrapped his arms around you so tight as if holding you any loosely would make you disappear. His hug felt warm, like a soft blanket wrapped around you, and the tears flowing down his rosy cheeks just shattered your heart into pieces.
You missed him.
Doyoung doesn't need words to know that you finally remember him. He isn't interested to know how you regained your memories, he is just too overwhelmed to even utter a word. Having you back in his arms and knowing you are his is more than enough for him.
He is glad you are back. He is glad the spring he once enjoyed is back.

You swore that you hadn't ever felt this euphoric with any other man in your university. No, compared to Mr. Kim, who you called daddy, they were merely boys.
"D-daddy." you managed to spit out at an attempt to not drool out of your mouth, "Too mu—uch."
"Too much?" he replied in disbelief, almost in a laugh. Until now, you question how you got so fucked out so easily, but he remained stable despite being completely engulfed in your cunt.
Right now, as his son was still in school before you had to babysit him, and before Mr. Kim had to leave for a conference, you were getting fucked against the big window in his at-home office.
Definitely, you were still registering the feeling of his throbbing cock going in and out of your sopping hole. However, your mind went empty because of it. With your own wetness coating your thighs and Mr. Kim's thrusting continuously animalistic, the anticipation of when he would come back into you after pulling out was all you thought about.
Like a whore, not that you weren't already one to him, your tits and face were pressed against the crisp clean glass, awaiting to be seen by anyone who would pass by the backyard.
Mr. Kim bent forward, the sound of his skin slapping against yours amusing him, licking a stripe on your bare neck as your hair was wrapped around his left hand as the other practically gripped your hips. But what entertained him most was how you were still clenching around his cock—even after the seven orgasms beforehand.
"It'll be too much once you give me your safe word." he said through clenched teeth, directly into your ear, "Do you want to say your safe word pretty girl?"
"Nng-no." he slapped your ass as a sign that he wanted you to speak louder, "No! No, daddy! Please. W-we still have more time until your son—oh my god—gets h-home!"
"That's what I thought. 'Cause cock-sleeves like you deserve to be fucked stupid."
“You know, I’m still seeing him. He’s still coming over from time to time,”
Doyoung looks at you with a blank face, but you know the way his mind might’ve been racing a thousand times faster. After four months of seeing each other, you start to pick up on all the little habits he fails to communicate verbally. He proceeds to slowly place his phone on his bed where you’ve both been lounging on for the past few hours, looks down for a moment, scoffs to himself, then forces a smile at you.
“…I knew it,”
“Yeah,”
“Well, do you like him?”
“I don’t. You know I don’t,” You respond.
He looks at you for a moment, saying not a word.
“You know I like you.” You say honestly, looking at him straight in the eyes.
“..I like you, too.” He responds as per usual, albeit with what seems like a hint of excruciating pain in his voice.
He looks down for a moment, seemingly trying to collect himself. You look at him, lips forming a straight line, mind emptied. You relent to the understanding that he doesn’t seem to like this arrangement all too much, despite having that as the initial agreed-upon base to your relationship. Even so, in the darkest corners of your heart, you desperately hope that he’ll stay. He’ll stay long enough to convince you out of this emptiness you’ve come to settle for yourself—that maybe you deserve better.
“..I think I might actually even be… Falling for you. No. y/n, I have been falling for you, and I want to say that.”
….. No. Not like that. Not now. Not right now, not at this moment.
“..Oh.”
“Yeah,”
You stay quiet for a moment. But you could feel the sirens going off inside of your mind, and you can’t for the life of you try to make it stop. You don’t even know how; you don’t even know where to begin to even do so. You begin to feel that all-too familiar feeling of slipping off your own bodily consciousness, where it feels like you’ve been too far removed from every single feeling in your body telling you that—this is where you want to be. This is where you want to stay. This is where you should be staying.
“….You know I want to take a chance on us. That I like you that much. That I wanna see if I can…. Open up again with you. Be with you.” You finally manage to say honestly, scrambling to keep things together as the sirens keep going off in your mind.
“I know, and I’m really thankful for that. And I really was willing to be there with you every step of the way. Because you know I like you that much,”
Was.
He said was.
Without your own volition, your body does what it’s best at to protect yourself, just like clockwork—emptying yourself out and leaving you out in the cold. As twisted as it seems, you feel the near-comforting feeling of every bit of warmth leaving your body, and you hate yourself for letting it happen yet again… With him. You could almost tangibly see from a distantly removed third-person perspective that, Doyoung has been looking down at his hands, eyebrows knitted together, and you can’t bring yourself to want to embrace that—all of that. And you despise yourself for it.
“..You okay?”
Was what you managed to say.
He keeps quiet, and you try to restrain yourself from forcing an answer out of him, despite feeling every inch of your body frantically trying to look into him, to find answers within him. Maybe…. To find answers within you.
“…Hey, what’s going on? Do you want to talk about it?” You try to follow up, tone a little too stable, even for your own liking. It shouldn’t be this way. You know that.
“I’m okay, I’m just processing my emotions, that’s all,” He looks at you, and you could clearly tell the way he’s trying his hardest to force a smile out of his otherwise incredibly weighted posture. “I really am just processing it, that’s all. Sorry if it bothers you,”
You look at him, blank faced.
“...Oh. No, no, you’re not. I’m sorry you have to feel that way,”
“No, no, it’s okay. It’s not your fault. It’s just something I have to go through at the moment,”
You look at Doyoung without a word—perhaps a little too calmly. And that by itself builds up a tight knot in your chest that you can’t find yourself unravelling. Despite trying to catch the pieces of yourself that’s been eluding your grasp for a while now—you find yourself feeling an incredibly pronounced feeling of hurt by the way you’re the one making him feel this way. Putting him through this. You know full well he doesn’t deserve this. Because you know you’ve come to care so much about him. Sometimes you’d think—even too much. But you were always hoping that too much would turn to just… much. And that you’d be fine with the idea of it. That you’d be fine with feeling of the knot unravelling without you even trying to orchestrate anything—because for once, he was the one that was able to make that happen—over, and over, and over again. Eventually, everything does come to an end. As you’ve always known.
“You know. If you don’t feel like you deserve to feel this way…. You should think about yourself.” You finally say.
…Perhaps, trying to convince yourself that you’re saying this because you care about him. But you don’t mean that. You know that. You want him to stay. You want him here, right with you. But you can’t help yourself from letting these words escape your lips faster than your mind could process, because you’ve only made a habit out of it. You’re trying to indulge in the feeling of yourself pushing him away, and you’re only using him as an excuse—and it does nothing but hurt you.
Doyoung looks up at you, eyes weighted with what seems like helplessness. “…What are you implying?”
“Like, think about yourself more. If this is really the best for you. I mean I obviously really like your company,”
Stop it.
“I know, I do think of that.” He responds, words not reaching the depths of your heart this time around. But you just know that he’s in pain. Just like you. But you can’t stop yourself from slipping even further down the ladder that you’ve come to cultivate for yourself over time—with him.
“But your well-being is way more important than anything, for you.” You continue.
But what about yours?
“..Yeah I know… Hahah, what are you trying to get to?” He responds, chuckling weakly.
“Because as much as I really like being around you, I don’t know when I’ll be ready to take it to the next level or something like that, and it’s not because of you, or anything like that. It’s because I really like being with myself right now.”
..That’s not right. You needed Doyoung to stay. Every part of you is begging for you to plead to him. But you choose to not indulge in it. Even if you know he wants the exact same thing from you.
“I understand that, and I’m aware. You’ve told me before,”
“I think I’ve been pretty clear with that.”
“Yes, you have.”
Silence takes over for a brief moment.
“….And you even encouraged me to branch out earlier—”
“—Well it’s not like that anymore for me. You’d know that by now.”
Silence falls between you once more.
“...Well, I’m sorry you’d have to go through this. I don’t even know if I’m worth you feeling weighed down like that,” You finally say, almost impressed by the finesse in which you could expertly mix the voice that comes from your head and your heart, managing to effortlessly let out a white lie that would grant you nothing but a false sense of security.
“You don’t have to be,” He replies simply.
“—Nothing’s worth more than your well-being,”
Please stop.
“I know.” He says, smiling at you. You desperately want to convince yourself that his smile is one that comes from the heart, but you know that’s not true.
“Yeah. I really, really do like it. Being able to take control of my own life.”
That isn’t a lie.
You just wish it could’ve been with somebody else.
That you didn’t need to find these answers on your own. But you can’t for the life of you—even begin to wish that for yourself.
“So, let’s address it yeah,” Doyoung finally responds with a sense of impatience bubbling under, “Do you plan to continue seeing him? It’s fine if you do. I’m not gonna crucify you for that.”
You look at him blankly. And you hate the way that you feel a little too emptied out inside, as if you’re nothing but a walking answering machine.
“I mean… I guess, sort of. I’m really just going with the flow right now. I don’t want to put too many restrictions on myself right now, because that’s how I’m gonna know how to think for myself. I’m still learning how to understand myself right now…”
…And you wish you wouldn’t have to be alone in this.
Like you always have.
“…And I understand if you can’t stand that. Being committed to another person would sort of disrupt the flow, in my perspective, at the moment.”
But you want Doyoung to stay.
You wanted him to make you see something different, for once.
You thought he’d be able to. And you’re well aware that no part of you is outwardly showing any hint of that desire, and you hate that. You hate that you always had to tuck up your innermost desires and show no trace of them, not a speck—not even for yourself.
“Then honestly, I think it’s best for me if I distance myself from this situation. I like you a whole lot, I’ve told you that,”
You feel your heart seize up in your chest.
“…And I’m not blaming you for doing what’s best for you. I just can’t bring myself to continue liking you romantically while you’re seeing other people. It’ll just hurt me in the process,”
He’s making complete sense.
“Yeah, that’s understandable.” You say, as your answering machine self keeps generating these cookie-cutter answers that only grew more clinical in nature.
“…Fuck, I really like you, y/n, hahaha,” Doyoung laughs in disbelief, tears starting to brim in the corners of his eyes.
“I mean I do too, haha,” You say, chuckling lifelessly.
You’ve really lost yourself this time around, yet once again.
“I was really looking forward to seeing you more and shit, and travelling with you,” Doyoung continues as his tears start to well up even more, recalling the small promises you’ve shared.
You look blankly at him, unaffected. It’s as if there’s a great divide within your consciousness and you’ve gone past the point of no return in trying to retain them together.
“Yeah, I know.” You manage to let out.
“Fuck, I’m sorry, haha, I’m a mess right now, fuck,” He blurts out, covering his face. You want nothing more than to look away from him, from the mess that you’ve made, because you’ve made yourself out to be this cold-blooded bastard when all you wanted was to perhaps—be embraced in all your weak defensiveness. But how could you? When you’re the one who’s causing all this hurt, for the both of you.
“You must be thinking how troublesome I am right now, hahah, I promise it’s just this one time,” He looks away, eyes unfocused. But you know tears are starting to dot on the surface of his cheeks.
Please don’t.
You can’t take this anymore. But the more disarmed you’ve come to feel, the more of you hides beneath the layers of armor that you’ve painstakingly built to protect yourself.
Even if you know you wouldn’t need them this time.
Not like this. Not now.
Not with Doyoung.
“…Nah, don’t worry about it.”
“No, you can say it. Whatever it is you wanted to say,” Doyoung says, looking at you with reddened eyes, tears dotting his cheeks as you’ve forecasted earlier.
“..I didn’t wanna say anything? Haha,”
You’d honestly find it hard to believe there’d be blood running through your veins right now.
“Oh, okay, haha,” He looks down, tears starting to stream down his face. “Fuck, I’m not prepared for this, I’m sorry, haha. This fucking hurts.”
“..Isn’t it for the best anyway,”
“Yeah I thought if I expected this, it shouldn’t hurt so much but fuck, I’m so wrong,”
“..Yeah,” You lifelessly respond.
He looks away to seemingly recollect himself, swiping his face with his hand for a moment, before looking back at you.
“…Well, y/n, you’re a great person to be around despite what you say about yourself, and I will really miss your company—I really liked talking to you and shit and learning random things,”
“Yeah, yeah,”
“Whatever you choose, I hope you’re content with it, y’know? You deserve it. After all you’ve been through and stuff—”
“Yeah, I know,”
“Shit, okay, umm, before this is like completely over and stuff,” He scrambles, eyes reddened and wavering despite his best efforts to keep his nerves properly contained.
You look at him blankly, feeling like nothing more than an empty shell. But even so, you could almost sense a large part of you slipping a little too rapidly from the tips of your fingers—and you’re doing absolutely nothing to stop it from happening.
“Wanna know why I like you,”
“What, why, haha,” You respond, tone flat.
“Hahaha, I don’t know, I might as well tell you right now since I’m such a fucking mess already,”
You sense the knot in your chest tightening even more, it might just burst along with the entirety of you—and the prospect of that is just much too frightening. Your body does what it does best and auto-compartmentalizes more of your feelings into an even sturdier locked receptacle.
“..Alright,”
“Okayy, let’s go,” He says, looking down at his hands as he smiles with tears brimming on the edge of his glossed eyes, “I like you because you’re so honest about how you feel—”
Wrong.
“—And all that shit, fuck, I can’t think, ughh. This is so fucking pathetic. Anyways,” He says, letting his tears fall clearly in the face of you this time around.
You firmly press your lips together into a straight line.
“Haha, well... Thank you. I do try. I don’t even know what I feel about things sometimes, at least what I can do is to be honest, about whatever,” You calmly spit out an answer you managed to reach for from one of the more perceptible cabinets of your mind.
“…You know I’ve learned some things from you, it’s really helped me. I’ve learned to be clearer about things, and tell people how I really feel about them at the present moment—to not beat around the bush before getting to the point,”
You scoff. Not one out of acknowledgement, rather one out of irony.
And he doesn’t know that. Not one bit.
“…Well thank you for seeing something good in me and sticking around. It mattered a lot to me as well—”
“—I think if you find someone you can open up to in the future they’d see what I see, too,” He says, smiling. You could tell that this time, it was one that truly came from the heart.
You feel a sharp prick in the depths of your heart, despite having made sure to have it buried thousands of feet under.
“…Nah,” You start, voice quivering ever so slightly, “I doubt it, haha—”
“—And they’ll like you for it, nahh, trust me,” He interrupts you, still smiling, despite being in such evident pain.
“..Even if I do,” You say, finally raising your voice for the first time in this conversation, no longer being able to hide the entirety of the discord within your emotions, “Would I let them in, though? I didn’t even let you in. Hah, what hope do they have,”
Doyoung holds a gaze towards you, one that mixes affection and despondency in equal parts. “You never know, y/n. Because I know how it feels,”
“What?”
“To fall for someone like you.”
You feel an overrun dam threatening to finally break through your well-protected reserves, and you needed to push him out of the way before that happens.
“.....Yeah. I’m sorry this happened, Doie. We had a good thing going on.”
You finally say, quickly looking away before you collect your belongings from Doyoung’s room. Perhaps you did catch him saying a few words as you let yourself out of his all-too familiar room, but every bit of memory and senses related to Doyoung's turned into a sort of kaleidoscopic collage of mosaics—blurred out, fragmented, much too remote and tangible all at the same time. Your mind desperately tries to fit all of Doyoung into one airtight compartment as it usually does, but it keeps on spewing him out in such a beautiful, fragmented mess, one that you can’t suppress but to finally take over your whole mind.
[01:22 am] If it wasn’t for vampire!Doyoung, you probably wouldn’t have survived your latest encounter with the undead. This was the second time he saved you and although you hate to admit it, you kind of want him to be around all the time.
“You really are a good guy, aren’t you?”
“Don’t call me that. It makes me sound weak.”
“Right,” you reply, rolling your eyes. “Being good doesn’t make you weak. Actually, I could use someone like you on my side. You know, the good side.”
“Oh, really?” He says, an amused smirk playing at his lips. Of course this would be entertaining to him; the Vampire Slayer asking a vampire for help.
“Either you fight with me or against me, but it doesn’t seem like you have any plans to kill me so why not just join me?”
“And have you kill me when I let my guard down? I don’t think so,” he huffs.
“I won’t kill you and you won’t kill me,” you say, extending your hand. “Deal?”
You could easily keep your promise, knowing you could never kill the person you love. You just hoped vampire!Doyoung could do the same as his cold fingers wrapped around your hand, shaking it in agreement.

[5:40 pm]— “What do you think you were doing?” commander!Doyoung demanded, specks of saliva spraying out of his mouth from how angry he was.
“What you told me to do.” I shifted out of my vest and hung it on its hook. “Why are you pissy?”
“Because you deliberately disobeyed me.” Doyoung took the rifle from my hands although not roughly. “I told you to get out of there with the rest of the unit.” He leaned in close, voice dropping to nearly a hiss. “You could’ve gotten yourself killed.”
I met his eyes. “Then you would be free of an insubordinate soldier.”
Doyoung pinched the bridge of his nose. “I don’t want to lose you, Y/N. You’re too valuable, but you need to listen.”
“I’m not dead am I?”
“No, but it was a close call.”
“Relax, alright?” I scratched the back of my neck, which was insanely itchy from the mix of dirt and sweat accumulating there. “Everyone’s safe and sound.”
“For now,” he said. “Dinner’s in ten. Wash up and lose the attitude. The lieutenant will want to speak to you.”
“Oh, great.” I rolled my eyes. “Tell the grandpa that I’ll speak to him as I am.”
“You’ll watch yourself.”
I couldn’t help but smile. “Alright, I’ll be presentable.”
“Good.” Doyoung turned on his heel. “I’ll return your rifle to the armory.”
Before he could disappear from the room, I called to him. “Will you be there?”
“For when the lieutenant summons you?”
“Yes.”
He looked at me over his shoulder. “Of course. I can’t leave you to your own devices.” And with that, he was gone.
