so in shuichi's lab we find he's got a shelf with all these files of murders and how the culprit pulled them off, the dialogue says there's about 50 but it looks like there are 52. maki finds that some of the files are illustrated instead of being photos.

the implication is that these are all the murders that have happened in danganronpa and the illustrated files are from the fictional games/anime. but isn't that kinda weird? maki and shuichi barely go over these files and we're given very little details of what's actually in them. shuichi never makes any connections about the murders being of and carried out by ultimate students, idk I feel like if victims/culprits aren't outright labelled with their talents then there should just be a lot of crimes carried out using weirdly specific skills? eg. leon using his baseball talent to throw the crystal ball. there's no patterns compared despite v3 following a similar formula to previous titles so a pattern could be pointed out around a double murder happening in about the middle every time?

they also don't talk about the illustrations much, I feel like they do notice something weird about them that they aren't saying but it's still kinda weird of them not to react more. if the illustrations are in an anime style and have bright pink blood, isn't that strange? a tamer reaction makes sense if the illustrations are more realistic sketches, probably in black and white. the question of why they're illustrated is still there because illustrations would make sense for crimes committed before taking photos is commonplace, so why are these possibly super old crimes here with newer ones, or if they are actually more modern, why illustrated if not photographed.

it's just that the v3 characters refer to the blood that looks bright pink to us as 'red'. so it's part of the art style rather than the actual world, the characters don't see themselves as anime and they see blood as red. looking through actual photos and then finding anime CGs and treating them the same feels so off. unless we're supposed to think dr's style is very realistic in-universe, which doesn't explain the blood & idk if that makes sense to me.

also i havent gotten to this point in my rewatch yet but when the characters get the flashback light that connects them to hope's peak and has them learn who junko and the remnants of despair are, it's also weird how maki & shuichi don't recall seeing some of their deaths - it's probably just murders not executions but sdr2 still had murders of remnants of despair and mukuro in the first game may appear.

we get this as an early clue of the game's ending, but it's really vague so it feels like it's just as likely that these 52 files aren't the danganronpa murders at all and could be any murders that support shuichi developing his detective talent or whatever. it doesn't contradict the common theory that tsumugi lied abt the hopes peak saga being fiction but it doesn't confirm it either. I just find it a really strange detail and I never see anyone talk about it so I don't know if anyone has ideas/theories about what's really going on, here.

SDR2.5 & DR3

*Just my guess, don’t take this too serious.

Danganronpa’s storyline is actually accorded, although the release date might be confusing, the numbering of the series were pretty obvious (except for Despair Arc). First it’s Danganronpa/Zero, which occurs before DR, and followed by SDR2, then Danganronpa 3 Side: Future. Base on this, we can  conclude that SDR2.5 occurs between SDR2 and DR3. Since the protagonist is Komaeda, SDR2.5 will probably be explaining how Kamukura (Hinata?) save his comatose friends.

I can’t believe he possessed a talent which can wake up those comatose person too... My guess is he messed up with the Neo World Program (programming, even consulting them because they were supposed to woke up as Ultimate Despairs) and so they could wake up. Whatever it is, I hope it will sound a bit logic... Well, logic doesn’t seem to work in DR’s world anyway.

Personal opinion below,

I’m at the “it’s ok to be shitty! as long as my sdr2 babes are alive” side, yes I do think this anime is a bit shitty compared to the previous games or novels. To be honest, does anyone notices although Kodaka gave us despair throughout the game, we are still feeling hope after clearing the game? It’s obvious that this anime will be a happy ending- oh no no, I meant a skeptical ending. A little link to NDRV3, we don’t know what will happen in NDRV3, they say it’s a whole new series so don’t mess it up with Hope’s Peak Academy series BUT please note that Monokuma is there, again, and what is it this time? Who is the mastermind? Is it really unrelated to Hope’s Peak Academy series? The game isn’t out yet so I’m not going to make wild guesses, one thing I’m sure is Amami Rantaro won’t die before his talent is revealed. (oh wait I’m not THAT sure.....)

whatever, i wish there will be lots of hinakoma moments in sdr2.5 because i’m not satisfied with dr3 hope arc

A SHSL Cosplayer (Tsumigi Shiragane) theory?

I think the SHSL Cosplayer (Tsumigi Shiragane) could be a good murderer.

I mean due to her talent she can “cosplay” as anyone in the class and murder someone.

If her cosplaying talent is that good, she can copy anything of that person.

Their fingerprints, their voice, their eye colour, anything.

And her prop making should be good aswell, she can easily create a fake murder weapon to throw everyone off on how the person died. She can also use her make up skills as a cosplayer to disguise all the wounds on the body, making it seem like nothing happened or make it look like something happened.

If anything, the case would be very hard to crack if she kills anyone.That might be why she’ll probably die early on. I hope not anyways.

Who do you guys think will be a good murderer?

Maybe the new cast are all “bad” people, and due to Ryota’s video (brainwashing the world with hope and absolute good) and they were put in a prison to stop them from infecting everyone else.

These kids must have been hiding when Ryota’s broadcast went around and went and rebelled.

Ryota might actually be the mastermind in all this, making them kill each other in the name of hope.

She is like the Impostor but she's more efficient, since she can possibly use her makeup and prosthetics skills to change her body type to that of another person as well.

She could be way better than the Impostor.

Despair arc theory

(spoilers for despair arc, future arc and sdr2)

(trigger warnings for suicide, murder and brainwashing)

I’ve seen alot of people saying how bad the despair arc was executed and wondering why it was so badly done and rushed. My theory is that they wanted the characters to stay perfect. Let me explain. In future arc when the characters commited suicide by brainwashing, nobody would think that they were suicidal. Same with how junko brainwashed class 77 into despair. The writers did this so the characters would stay liked, I haven’t thought of a reason for nanami to be executed beside the fact that she’s a mary sue. 

This also doesn’t make sense because in the simulation the same characters have seen their friends get executed infront of their faces, and they stayed sane and full of hope through the whole game. So why does it work before? Also why does kamukura cry when nanami dies, even though he hardly remembers her.

Well, since Tengan is dubious and how Mitarai conveniently got a message as soon as the power for the monitor had run out, I think the message he sent might be a “Thank you for everything” or “Congratulations, you won the game” kind of thing.  Which is then followed by the despair video.  Junko doing the same in that despair episode makes me think that will happen. 

And we know how that ended.  Hoi boy I sure can’t wait for that to happen... *sigh*

How Ryota was used again...

You know how we just found out that Tengan texted Ryota (even though he’s meant to be dead)? Well I think that Tengan was texting him/ or using timed texts which would explain why he could “text him from the dead” from the very beginning, hence why Ryota kept looking at his phone all the time. I think that Tengan gave Ryota directions or instructions on where to hide, and in almost all of these rooms, a monitor has been present or a motive has been put in place. Tengan was using him to cause despair. This is just something I thought up on the spot because Ryota seems to have a knack for being used for other people’s agenda.

Headcanon: One of the videos Chisa saw while commiting suicide was of Nanami death, that’s why she has tears on her eyes.
