Dragonrend was made specifically to introduce the concept of mortality to dragons. It’s function is very specific, to cease their flight so that they may be attacked on the ground. It’s not a godkiller to anything that isn’t an agent of time like Alduin.
Anon, think about this. A dragon in real life could never fly because of how large the wings would need to be. This isn’t real life of course but consider that when you use dragonrend on a dragon, they suddenly cannot fly. Why? They say you introduced the idea of mortality to them. But what does that mean? If the dovah are beings that embody aspects of time and are biological time machines, unaffected by time and a part of it, then they are unbound. Weightless so to speak. You throw a wrench in that, throw doubt and cancel their ideology with that of your own as mortals, then you’re contradicting the very idea of what they are. They become bogged down by it and quite literally weighed down to the point that they must land. I’m suggesting that they do not fly because they have wings. I got that idea by watching them once and seeing how unrealistic their flight is, as if they’re floating around. It’s a game of course with limitations, but it’s a good way to picture this in your head. Think again of it like someone trying something out and they’re doing very well until some negative Nancy decides to tell them they suck, then suddenly they fail. Or better yet, cartoon logic. Walk off a cliff but you don’t fall unless something makes you look down. This is what the Nords did to the dragons. More or less.
