New Super-Man and the Justice League of China #24
Commission for the ever-wonderful author of Dragonson, FeedMeEliNini!! ❤️
Asian Herritage Month Characters of the Day: Justice League of China
2016 series New Super-Man, after 19 issues renamed New Super-Man and the Justice League of China, introduced a goup of teenage superheroes modeled by Ministry of Self-Reliance after classic Justice League members in an attempt at “beating Americans at their own game”. The team initially consisted of Wang Baixi, who passed rigurous tests to become Bat-Man of China; Peng Deilain, a character from a famous Chinese legend (saying more would be a spoiler) as Wonder-Woman; and Kong Kenan, who was imbued with energies left after Superman’s apparent death to become Super-Man of China. The group would later be joined by Avery Ho - a Chinese-American speedster who debuted in 2016 Flash #3-8 before reappearing in this book as Flash of China. And in the final arc they are joined by Ahn Kwan-Yo, a North-Korean refugee bestown with powers similiar to Aquaman by spirt of half-legendary king Munmu. He goes by Dragonson but people often call him Aqua-Man of North Korea.
The book is highly recommended by me, it is a great mixture of funny and thought-provoking, not shying away from serious topic like widespread censorship and information control in China or racist deciptions of Asians in past DC books. Writer Gene Yang does trmendous job conencting the DC mythos, and Superman mythos in particular, to the politica, mythological and philosophical history of China.
Aside the book the team has appeared in the Terrifics #25, Deilain in Wonder Woman #82 and Kenan in Action Comics #981-984, Superman #14-16 (first time meeting between Kenan and Clark), Deathstroke #26-29 and Supergirl #14. Meanwhile Avery has returned to be supporting character in abovementioned Flash book, appearing in issues #39-45, #75-87, #750 and #752

Summary:
Kenan is having a crisis. Just a small (read: very big) one. The matter at hand: He's pretty sure he has a crush on Kwang-Jo. But he's straight? He was with Avery, so he's straight, right? Who better to ask for advice than the Superfamily.
Undead Outlaws
Because I shared the idea of twitter, time to share it here
What if....RHATO is redone...but it doesn’t just have the antihero theme...but also the undead/came back wrong theme linking the lineup together?
And they like....go on a roaring violent rampage to avenge those whose lives were unjustly lost something....
Not like, “killing-spree”, they wouldn’t kill everyone, but they often go against the worst of the worst and make sure that they return to their rightful spot in Hell
Horror-adjacent Outlaws would be very fun, especially if they have to interact with the other heroes and have to either hide this side of them or the heroes have to deal with how, unsettling the Outlaws can be when together
So like, the crew will be antiheroes who died before:
Jason Todd/Red Hood
Artemis of Bana-Mighdall/Requiem
Bizarro
Jack Moore/Rankorr
August Heart/Godspeed or Thaddeus Thawne/Inertia
Koryak/Narwhal or Dragonson*
Courtney Mason/Anima*
(*I don’t know if they’ve ever died before but I would like them on the team nonetheless)
And also they all get power ups related to how they came back and stuff
So like, Rhato would become more horror focused, but the Outlaws are the “monsters” and we watch those they’re hunting eventually get consumed by fear
Of course, it would rely on having a good horror writer who also knows how to make it mesh with superhero stuff
Also, Undead!Rhato has to open with how everyone died
Also Artemis needs to become the Queen of Hell/a half-demon
And like, Jason needs a boyfriend. I’d accept Godspeed or Red Devil, anyone else needs verification. But at this point Jason needs to be like, Bi at the very least and with a ns because non of these female relationships or sticking so I want to try something.
And Artemis gets with Anima because it’s my rarepair
Dragonson [Roy + Eliwood]
@pheraescourage
Heavy breathing sounded from behind a locked door. Roy was on the other side, grabbing his hair and trying to avoid running into anyone who knew who he was. Unfortunately he had come to the Castle Pherae in the past because he’d wanted to talk to his father and Hector about something. Not end up locking himself in a room because of something he had zero idea about.
His hands were more like claws and his arms and face itched. He had zero idea what exactly he looked like right now but it wasn’t good- especially not when he had one reason for being here. Knocking sounded on the other side and his eyes widened.
“Don’t come in! I-I’m busy!” It was an awful lie, but he didn’t know who was on the other side of the door.
Ahn Kwang-Jo sometimes helps smuggle North Korean dissidents into South Korea.
