New drama class starting today. Wish me luck! I pray I don't tell another group of 8-12 year olds (which I was too old to be with, they just put me with the kids because I was dyspraxic) what The Magnus Archives is when I inevitably start drawing on my script, because that all happened last time, and let me tell you, I was stricken with such fear I'd get told off for scaring the kids by recommending them a horror podcast that even gives me chills.

my drama teacher just put on hamilton and the whole cast was singing along. then he just walked out to go talk to someone. he put on hamilton to babysit us.

OH YEAH I FORGOT TO MENTION!!!

My school drama production (for my year level) was today!!!!!

I thought it was good but everyone afterwards said it was one of the best plays they ever saw. My drama teacher even said it was the best year 10 play she's ever directed

best of all? My costume was very gender.

If you're planning on working with kids, I highly recommend you take an improv class or two.

Being able to bs an answer* out of nowhere and/or to "yes and" a kid suggestion is critical when working with tiny humans.

And taking drama classes also helps to teach you how to project your voice with maximum effect without hurting your throat, which is a VERY useful skill when you have 25 little kids bouncing off the walls.

* I don't mean lie to them if you don't know the answer to their question, but rather how to improvise an answer related to magic lore like Santa or the Tooth Fairy when someone questions the magic.

Misread a kiss scene for a fight scene in a script today during drama class and my scene partners laughed at me but BRO I'M ACE IT'S ALL THE SAME TO ME!

GANG I KID YOU NOT ALIEN STAGE GOT ME INTO THE BEST DRAMA CLASS IN MY HIGHSCHOOL 🙏

I had to do a song (I did Jane Doe from rtc) and a monologue.. I chose Mizi’s whole speech in Karma

(“Mizi.. there’s something I need to confess. Every night, she was secretly practicing her death. And.. I knew, but I pretended not to. Maybe I just wasn’t as desperate as her? I know my love was different from yours, but isn’t that still love?! Who could have blamed me, huh? If you’d seen the look on her face, would you still have judged me?! -And you. You were always running away from the very beginning. Not once did you face your true feelings, right? Fighting for the sake of justice… did that really fix anything?! All it brought was a meaningless death! And even if humans were set free, we still would have been alone! Because us humans are the root of all this pain. Even with love! We can’t seem to love without exploiting others..”)

I love my drama class because why are 4 kids performing an improvised musical where two girls are fighting over a guy but the guy is in a secret gay relationship with the other guy involved so the two girls get together and they’re all gay in the end. All while my teacher is trying to wrangle together two students who left the class because they didn’t want to do their assignment final

“We’re gaaaayyyy~” has to be my favourite line, I was hoping for it to all end in one big polyamorous relationship but we ran out of time 💔
