Everyone rightfully condemns Queen Elizant II and her kingdom for the Ladybug Ban, yet let the Bees off the hook for THEIR blatant racism.

It’s also worth noting that, not only is the Explorers’ Association composed predominantly of non-Ants, but Queen Elizant II appointed several bugs of other species to important positions (e.g. Maki, Professor Neolith). Meanwhile, the highest ranking non-Bee in Queen Bianca’s court seems to be Professor Honeycomb’s assistant, Hawk.

I am NOT arguing that the Ladybug Ban was justified, that racism isn’t an issue in the Ant Kingdom, or that Queen Bianca and her people are all Bee supremacists. My point is that the Ladybug Ban was just the most obvious manifestation of prejudice that already existed within society, and that ending it-while an important step-won’t magically cure said prejudice overnight.
