Grandma, can I have $20? Ad for the United Nations Fund for Drug Abuse Control - 1976.
Things started getting out of control when I had to give my arms and hands a break from digging into them with a needle, over and over again. Between breaking rigs into my skin, and constantly fighting to hit a vein, I knew it was time to start considering other options. I was becoming sicker and sicker each moment wasted on trying to register my shot.
By this point I was broken up with my ex, but we started hanging out again, it was hard for us to be separated from each other for longer than a few weeks. He noticed something was different with me, “What have you done to yourself?”, my ex says to me as I go to pull down my pants to continue exploring to find visible veins that I could inject some heroin and cocaine into. Little did he know that my habit grew worse and worse after us being not together. His surprised face was no longer surprised, then he realized the monster he created.

Healthcare innovations must centre PWUD -- or else.
I found a lot of amazing authors [in the Sherlock fandom], and a lot of amazing fic, but I also found a lot of harmful stereotypes about drug users. ... The idea of a loved one kidnapping a drug user, locking them up in their apartment or whatever until they detox, the idea that this is for their own good; the idea that a character needs to refuse medically necessary pain medication; you know, casually using the word ‘junkie.’ And I guess I would say, like, I know that these are tropes and stereotypes that are all over pop culture, and have been for decades, so what I would want would be that people would be aware, and then they could tag things properly, and then I wouldn’t necessarily stumble into things that were untagged.

THE DRUG USERS BIBLE: THE END OF THE JOURNEY The complete version of The Drug Users Bible has now been published: and this definitely is the final cut. I’m getting too old for the constant drug touring, and the ride cannot go on for ever.
For this edition I added an extra 25 psychoactives, bringing the total to 182. These were:
3-MMC a-PHP Carisoprodol Zopiclone Sentia 3-HO-PCP Snus 5-MeO-DMT Modafinil Sananga Ginseng Green Tea Horny Goat Weed Yerba Mate Cacao DOM Chamomile TMA Hops Mullein Saffron 5-HTP Mad Honey Essential Oils 1cP-LSD
Some of these were definitely scraping the bottom of the barrel but I had to cover them for some sort of completeness (at least in terms of common perception).
Various sections were also substantially expanded, some new segments were added, and a significant number of previous reports were extended/improved or added to. The new page count is 636, making it literally a weighty tome.
More information is available on the book’s website (www.DrugUsersBible.com)or on Amazon (www.amazon.com/dp/0995593698/).
Finally, my 12 year journey has ended, but it isn’t the end of the road. I will continue to ‘research’, to post on parts of social media, and attempt to disseminate harm reduction information wherever and whenever I can. You haven’t heard the last of me.
Regarding the book, I hope it continues to be a useful resource in preventing tragedy, both now and long after I have shuffled off this mortal coil.
Finally, please don’t hesitate to ask any questions or post comments, or most of all, if you ever need help and you think I can assist, drop me a private message. Stay safe.
